Changes to Rage
[ QUOTE ]
well when picking it up at 28, i would use it situationally until you get to 29 when you can add slots to it. A casual gamer should be able to grasp this concept as they have lvl'd 28 times already...and at each lvl they are adding enhancements to improve their powers...
[/ QUOTE ]
This assumes they have hasten and its 6 slotted. And yes I know a couple of level 38s that don't use hasten. Sure I think they are nuts but they do it.
[ QUOTE ]
Now on to the accuracy. I realise it takes accuracy enhancments but if the powers description doesnt say it increases accuracy (like Build up for example) How do you know what to believe ? Maybe its another error that it takes the enhancments. And how much of a bonus does this give ? or maybe you can stear me to a sight that lists power bonuses and % caps, I'd lke to know when to stop socketing my defensive powers for one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I edited a post of mine 1 or 2 back with my "testimony" on ToHit buffs in that power.. check it out, its interesting stuff. I totally rely on it for Acc.

Im 47 and I do not have Hasten. It is totally wrong for my concept and I have no desire to lose end suddenly. That is a big part of the reason I dislike the test Rage that went live. I used to use Rage when it was a stun very rarely until I found out about Uy cancelling it. Then I used it more but not all the time.

I applaud the not using Hasten by the way.. I've actually considered dropping it since I don't need it for perma-unstop anymore. Haven't quite found an attack chain I like yet, however this Rage thing might mess up any chance of that happening for various concept reasons.
Ah, thats good to know. Missing isnt fun I'd rather hit stuff regularly and do weak damage than miss frequently and do awsome damage

Spot on! I hate missing with a passion. This is why I have an acc in all my attacks even on my Blaster with TD.

Same here, all my attacks on all my characters have an accuracy in them, but maybe I've just learned a better way to improve my punching technique.

Assuming they don't have hasten, then one would assume they are accustomed to putting recharges in their powers.

I have some info for you.
This damage reduction and defense info is wonderful and seems accurate in practice.
This Calculator is nice too.
I usually calculate everything based on white enchancements. I set my enhancement level, character level and enemy level all at 40, so I'm always ok at white enh time, better at green and not so bad when they go yellow.
Together they make it really easy to approach yet not exceed your resistance caps too much... Though I have heard that exceeding resistance caps isn't all bad. If your resistance is ever debuffed, it will take into account your excess.
If you are interested in my Invul build which I used these tools to make, I'll be happy to post it for you, though I don't like to push my builds on people.
EDIT: because I forgot to take off my winter mittens before typing this apparently. Silly type-o's
Im going to go out on a limb and say ACC is ALSO increased by 80%.....
Like I said in previous posts....I can hit Paragon Protectors who are running their Moment of Glory repeatedly back when i was lvl 32-35 and they were red-purple con to me with 2 recharge and 2 ToHit Buffs in Rage and 1 ToHit buff in Invincibility. Im gonna add another To Hit buff to rage at next lvl.
i bet i can hit +10's when i pick up Focused Accuracy. LOL....
I have no ACC's in any attacks because of rage and invincibility.

I felt so adequately accurate that The Pirate King actually went Pyre at 41.. I figured pirates like to play with gun powder and justified it for my character. I can't wait to get Fireball and do a Macro that says "Give 'em a broad side, Matie!!!"
Oops I digress... I don't like rage as is, changes it back! I want my drunken sailor pirate!!!
Mittens, LOL. I'm curious as to your build just to see how some other players are doing it, doesnt mean I'll change mine, being stubborn like I am I'm convinced I have a good build.... And thank you very much for the links.

I recently stripped a slot out of Hasten to put somewhere else and to lengthen the time between Hasten enduced Endurance drops to levle out my endurance... I implied in a post earlier I had 6 slotted hasten. I just wanted to make it clear that was a very recent change on my part.
All damage type except Lethal/Smashing (and except Psi of course) land somewhere between 80 and 90 percent with white enahancements if I have Unyielding on. If I turn Temp Invul on I have about 92% Lethal/Smashing (have math written down somewhere. This is my best guess)
As you can see Rage is important to my build, thus why I'm on this thread discussing it.

Until then we have to make due.
[/ QUOTE ]
Make due? I made due when they made the changes to invul before. I made due when i lost perma unstop, i respeced it out. I made due when i had to spend almost a solid day on test figuring out how to mix certain powers to make my invul/ss tank playable, not just at 50, but also at lower levels when i exemped down to help out my SG mates. Now i have to make due again?
I have never seen devs screw [censored] up like they do here. I used to play a game called "the realm" cheesy little MMOG. The devs there screwed up a lot too. finally everyone left as it wasn't any fun anymore. I'm not saying they are all bad because they do add some cool things. Winterlord being one of them. but the fact that I have to completely relearn a character evrytime a patch comes out is insane. I have 6 slotted hasten and 2 slotted rage. I died 3 times in a mission fighting level 52 mobsters. First 2 times were because i wasnt' paying attention and when my end dropped to 0 and all of my toggles dropped i thought I had been mezzed somehow. so i took it on the chin. The third time i noticed what happened and was in shock. i had to open a browser and go read the changes. I agree with the dude that said that such a severe change should have been put in the login screen.
So, now my tank has to adapt to another play style. one where LT's, Bosses, and AV's have more health, and i do LESS damage. I was already the lowest damage tank out there.
Ok, enough of my rant.
Is it going to be fixed? if so, when? If not then those of you that want to start a guild on EQ2 send me email. Id rather give my money to devs that aren't screwing me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can sympathize with you, but Statesman had previously said that the end drop was too harsh and they were cooking up something else.
And SoE are not "screw" less, I have been in EQ 2 years, and when they publicly admitted that GoD and OoW should have been 1 expansion but still made you pay ful price for both I left for a couple of months and only play now due to my guild and non-guild friends. The content of GoD was planned for people who were 66+ they had said and you could not get above 65 till OoW was released.
This Rage change coming live on the coat-tails of the Invuln changes and delayed respec are annoying to be sure, but considering Statesman said the end drain was too harsh, I am sure something else will be ready for test soon.
[/ QUOTE ]
No matter what the reason (intent, mistake, excuse etc.) the fact remains that we pay for a complete product. Its a matter of professionalism. The way they are handling things are quite the opposite. Un-professional!
If content /fixes where not fixed/ready they should NOT have released I3. I would have been happy to wait- instead of being rather insulted by the way Cryptic has handled the launch of I3 and this subsequent "patch". Why do we spend time here and on test if we as players and paying customers, who want a better game, make suggestions and point out problems we find, if we are to be treated as if we dont know what we are talking about. We as a group of "Ragers" made some really good suggestions on how to handle rage, most were reasonable and seemingly ignored.
We should have been offered some sort of announcement or warning of what was to come.
We should be offered another free respec for any and all players whos characters had new powers that were significantly changed by the patch as well.
And please, don't insult us by asking for opinions and suggestions, or pretend to have open communication, when it seems we are left talking to ourselves in the dark.
My 15 bucks a month, and word of mouth to get others to play have supported this game, and the people who make a living operating it. I think we, the players, deserve a little bit more respect than we have been shown lately. I'm not going to quit, but I want to be able to play my characters without worry, and without using MY resources to compensate for changes in the game. This includes time on the boards, time in test and wasted time in busted missions using the power of the week.
signed, an unhappy customer
I could live with "build up".

Many players complained about the stun at the end of Rage because it turned off toggles and left them helpless. At the same time, hardcore players with perma-unstoppable or Unyielding were able to avoid the Stun effect. Thus the casual player was getting penalized and hardcore player wasnt getting the desired penalty. We're still looking at the issue - so feel free to post your thoughts & ideas!
[/ QUOTE ]
I just want to report in and let you know that over the last 2 nights (about 3 hours of play) of FORCED live server play testing, I have confirmed that yes indeed, the zeroing out of endurance is MUCH more difficult to play. I've died once in that three hours, I've had bail outs from teammates multiple other times since this has gone live. All due to toggle drops from the endurance drop in the middle of a fight. Each time a villain with a mezz attack will disorient me or hold me and then kill me a slowly or as quickly as they want.
This doesn't feel very casual to me... oh, and before someone tells me it is a mistake or that it had to go through to get the other updates out or send me towards the post from Statesman that says he doesn't like this, FIRST point me towards the Dev post that explains why it went live at all. Also, one that explains why I have to stop using a key power for 2 days, just to be safe especially when this was the original change to make is safer in the first place. Please Please Please show me why so I can stop looking at how much I'm paying for this game per month and questioning my decision to do so.
Coupled with the Unstoppable change, and no respec for a week after that went live, I'm going on 2 weeks of not being able to play my main. Can I get a $5 credit or something because this is silly? Don't worry folks I already know the answer to that question.
I guess I'll go buy a couple of recharge redux and replace my ToHit buffs with those for a while and hope to use the overlapping Rage exploit to keep my end from dropping.... boy, I'm glad they made Rage much less power gamer.....
Ok I am way disappointed with rage, and I really hope it's a mistake.
Has anyone confirmed its a 100% drop? It's seems like it is, but when I turned off all my powers, and stood there, using rage, it only seemed to drop about 20%.
But several times it dropped 100% or appeared to be a 100% drop, but all those times I was fighting and my powers were on, etc. SO I wonder if it's a bug. Still horrible, and more so from a lack of dev comment up to this point. Even a "whoops, mistake, were gonna have it fixed ASAP" or something would be ok. As it is, I am, if it's a permanent change, I will decide whether to just shelve my Inv/SS or tought out the remaining 12 levels. After all, I don't need rage teamed, and the last 10 levels, what with all the AV's, is all about teaming anyways. Feel deep sympathy for all the lower level tankers though.

btw, thanks for that link. My prior post was not aimed at you. It was aimed Statesman. I really appreciate you pointing that post out.
My general point is that Invul/Unstoppable, and now SS/Rage have both been handled in a way that was very inconvenient for me the paying the customer.
LOL JaZonZ, you crack me up!

Unbelievable.
What happened, when did you stop listening to your fans?
Congrats devs, you have successfully "balanced" the crowning powers for the most popular Pri/Sec Tanker combination into utter uselessness.
Unstoppable and Rage are now dead powers.
This is the last time im gonna type this next bit, and thats not a threat, im simply sick of reading myself say it, and jumping up and down for a year and change trying to fight for my fun, and justify paying for that:
Stop punishing players for using powers.
Listen to your players when scores of them tell you something isnt fun.
Comprehend the fact that in some remote possibility of reality that what you may consider to be "balanced", isnt fun, and people play games for fun.
Your "balancing" the comic book feel right out of this game.
Your tuning it into an interdependant mess and taking choices right out of peoples hands.
Your posting token threads to humor your fan base, implying they have some kind of interactivity with upcoming changes, when its apparent we dont at all. If it isnt done on purpose its certianly coming across that way.
Im not going to pay for that anymore, sorry.
Why would I when I can play other MMOG's out there that arent going to punish me for using my characters abilitys?
If all that is interpreted as over-emotional whining and holding my oh so valuable 15$ a month and fan allegience hostage for the devs to do something about then thats fine, knock yourselves out.
Just think about what ive written before subscribing it to "E-Martyrdom" or "OM*GWTFLOL U BROKE MY CLASS i QUIT!!1!!1!shift1!!!1one!111" raging.
So no ultimatums, ill simply cancel my account like many others have from the old beta crowd and quietly slink away to other games.
Remember that guys..its a *game* it shouldnt be work or a protest march.

Rage is just a damage buff, looks like a roughly 30% increase and once it wears off it gives you a defense penalty and a 100% endurance drop.
[/ QUOTE ]
it's an 80% increase to your base damage.
It is also a buff to your acc. I don't know the numbers for acc.
2 To hit buffs in rage and 2 to hit buffs in invinciblity you can hit MOGd PP's that con purple.

I just went and tested it with out rage I hit a grey con mob for 668.9 and with rage for 854.62 and a green con mob without rage 491.6 and with rage for 628.09 this isnt an 80% increase and the power says nothing about an accuracy increase in its description. (All tests where done useing knockout blow on mobs that where same level minions of the same gang type)
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know if he is right but he said an 80% increase in 'base' damage, not enhanced damage. You could try deleting all your damage enhancements out and punching someone with and without rage. I'm at work or I'd go check it on test. Someone, DO MY BIDDING!
[/ QUOTE ]
Done and Done, went and used my Hurl which has no damge enhancements in it and it did 173.93 without Rage and 313.09 with Rage, thats a differance of 139.16 ^^ Okay^^ that looks like 80% to me, thanks for the help and "patience"
