Changes to Rage

This is a good question. Is it over and done with?
While I can live with 3.0 I don't like it much. So are we through discussing it then?

There hasn't been an official reply to this thread in months. I doubt it will change.

They're employing the time-tested "ignore them until they stop bugging us" method, apparently.

As bad as Rage is now, it looks like we're stuck with it.

Between stripping the knockback out of the set back in Issue 2 and the current incarnation of Rage, the fun has been pretty thoroughly sucked out of the powerset.

[/ QUOTE ] Makes me think you have no idea what the majority of SSers out there want.

And you do, is that it? You who seem unable to discern the difference between a statement of fact and a personal opinion? It's very easy to confirm what the majority of Superstrength tankers want; simply read this thread.

SablePhoenix... just wanted to say that I love your Avatar.

Well... Thank you. You're the first person to ever say that. I came up with it more than ten years ago and it's been my "coat of arms", so to speak, ever since.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled thread.

Do I know what the majority of SS tankers want in game? Heck no, I'm not a polling service.

But sure, let's go over this thread to try and find a continuing "heavily negative response." From what I've seen...
First, the thread was people shouting about Rage 2.0. Next we had people grousing about the proposed Rage 3.0 Then 3.0 was released, people tested it, found it wasn't as bad as prophesized, and dropped the topic. The latter part of this thread has been people suggesting some tweaks, discussing the mechanics of the power, and YOU arguing with anyone that dares to say they like the current Rage.

Pretty standard for a power change here. People shout that they don't like a proposal. Proposal comes out, testers find it isn't that bad. Topic fades away except for a few hangers on remembering the glory days of pre-change. Kinda like Smoke Grenade and Regen.

The subject faded away because it's been ignored by the red names, and eventually people will tire of ramming against brick walls. Most SS tankers have are living with Rage as it is and trying to make the best of it, not because they enjoy it, but because there is no alternative and no apparent hope of one.

My posts have been general posts directed to nobody but the dev team. I've not argued with anyone other than you (if you can even call it arguing), and that's only because of your insufferably superior attitude and your insinuations that my opinions somehow don't matter because you don't like them. I'm mad at you, and that happens rarely. Hence I'm ignoring you from now on.

[/ QUOTE ] Nonsense! There are people on these boards that do nothing but ram brick walls and beat dead horses. I can't think of the last time anyone mentioned changing Rage outside of this thread. If it has as much support as you say it does, bring it up in the Tank forums, sit back and enjoy the piles of people that agree with you. If it gets locked, PM CuppaJo and ask her to remove the semi-lock on this thread that keeps it on page three.

Funny, that's how I feel about you. The problem I've had with you in this thread is that you seem unwilling to even contemplate a dissenting opinion and have no problem making all-inclusive generalizations. When you try and speak for everyone, don't be surprised when you get a few indignant dissenters.

I've said it before (probably in this thread) but original Rage was the perfect example of a well balanced power. For some strange reason Statesman got it into his head that it unfairly penalised "casual players". Whatever they are. So it was replaced with a power for which the only solution is well slotted Taunt.

Now I hate taunt and I think Statesman was on the "juice" the day he came to that particular decision. However the current version of Rage is very light on penalties so as much as I dislike it I am reluctant to complain because the replacement will be much much worse.

However on a thematic note I do wish they would give Rage some Fear defense. In fact my idea for Rage would be this:

1) Damage & ACC boost as is.
2) Duration & recharge times as is.
3) While Active Rage halves magnitude of all status protection.
4) Provides very strong Fear protection.

So there is a disadvantage while the power is running, not for 10 seconds when it ends. when it ends.

Alternatively if the Devs aren't looking at this thread (which is my guess) would they please lock it.

Wow, that's... brilliant. I could totally get behind that change (although almost anything would be better than what we have now). Unfortunately the tradeoff is engineered for PvP and is a little heavy for PvE, since almost nothing in PvE uses Fear powers. They'd have to add Fear-using perps to make that really attractive. Still, it'd be better than what we have now.

And I agree about Taunt, I despise it too.
