It is a shame though that my toon that I've played since April is now hurtling toward level 50 (will be 50 before I3) and then that's it, my toon will be done.
Sure, I can play my alts, but my main is my fave, it will be a sad day when I part with her.

I would also like to give a shout out for Starship Troopers. That is one seriously funny and enjoyable movies that you can watch on autopilot. It doesnt try to take itself seriously in the slightest. Would you like to know more?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, while the movie still just plain old sucks, the fact remains it has nothing to do with Starship Troopers the book...did you know there even was a book? Of course, they rely on the fact that people that would enjoy that movie dont generally read books, so they are in the clear.
How can you take a ground breaking book for its time and reduce it to utterly brainless sci-fi crap? Call it something else like "Trooping Starshippers" or "The Twit Movie", but no they had to latch onto a known book cause the movie story was soooo bad.
Well, as long as people will buy that tripe, Hollywood will continue to churn it out.

umm... I liked the movie, I thought it was entertaining, had a neat directorial style(the web news thing) and it had boobies
I also read a good bit. Granted ive never read starship troopers the book, and maybe if i did then i would hate the movie, but i can say, that while the plot wasnt spectacular, it also didnt have anything in particular wrong with it. So please, if your going to make a blanket statement be more specific. Maybe like "who ever saw the movie and liked it must not have read the book" as Opposed to "whoever liked it must not read"
Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

Oh, and what alway got me is that around the time the infantry grunts are finishing basic training, the babe-who-wants-to-be-a-pilot, who started her training around the same time as them, is at the helm of a STARSHIP and even plotting course corrections! Man, they've sure got a kick-butt training program. Plus, Slick Biff the pilot boy actually HOLDS HIS OWN in the fight with the COMMANDO! Man, the flight corps needs to take over all the training. The army corps must suck. No wonder they all died so easily. Put the pilots in charge of everything; even the hand to hand combat.

I feel bad for people who can't enjoy both the book and the movie. I'm a Heinlein fan and a Verhoven fan and I will tell you that I enjoyed both the same way I enjoyed serious tellings of King Arthur's tale and the Monty Python version. Same way I enjoyed Thor comics even though I was a rabid Norse mythos addict.
I wouldn't recommend Python, Thor comics, or Verhoven's movie as serious tales that teach you important lessons on life. That didn't stop me from enjoying them.

Read the book. Nuff' Said. The book was 100x better than the movie, and anyone that say other wise should be shot. The only thing good about the movies was the size of the women's..... IQ.....and the random propaganda they were throwing out there.

To be fair, the book is ALWAYS better than the movie. Seriously, has there ever been a movie based on a book that turned out BETTER than the book? I can't think of one and I'm a movie and book junkie. I've read several hundred, if not thousands, of Fantasy/Sci-fi books over the years, and watched many more movies than that. I am a fanatic for both. Anyone who both reads books and watches movies knows that the book is always better (heck even the novelizations of movies is usually better), but both can be great. They are two completely different things that entertain in completely different ways.
Now, as to Starship Troopers, I still say it equals 90210 in Space, BUT it is still an enjoyable popcorn action movie. You just have to sort of check your reasoning at the door when you watch it. It is pulp and stupid dialog to the core. But, hey, the dialog in the Star Wars movies isn't really much better.

Well, first off, if they had called "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" "An Accurate Account of the Life and Times of King Arthur", I would see your point. But from the title, you know what you are getting into.
But when you put the title "Starship Troopers" on a low budget B movie sci-fi flick, you cant tell that they are not even trying to stay true to the original book of the exact same name.
If you truely read and understood the book, you know how they arent even really the same story!
But I do agree, Starship Troopers the movie was comical, but in ways they were not trying for.

You're dead wrong. The movie was very specifically trying to be funny, camp, and over the top. It converted true drama to melodrama on purpose. You sound like someone who went to a John Waters flick and walked out suprised it was vlugar.
Did the movie Starship Troopers lose themes of the original book? Why indeed it did. As the Thor Comics lost themes of Norse Mythology and as Monty Python's the Holy Grail lost themes of the Arthur Legend. All three took rich, thematic source material and transferred them to a much flatter genre where themes are all much shallower - the comedy, the comic book and the camp Sci-Fi flick.
Anybody who goes to a Python flick expecting depth is a fool. Same for anyone picking up most 1960s comic books. Anybody who walked into a movie by the guy who made Robocop and Showgirls expecting something deep was just as misguided. Movies are a director-driven medium. Setting your expectations for a movie based on the source material and the title are as foolish as setting you expectations for a novel based on the publisher and typeface - the first has little bearing, the second no bearing at all.
You want to see a crap adaptation of a Heinlen property - get the Puppet Masters, an attempt at a serious adaptation the completely crapped on the themes of the original work, rather than just ignoring them. How do you defeat the Puppet Masters? Blow them up!

Don't believe everything you hear, especially in-game.
When the cap was upped to 50, the devs said rather specifically that that would be IT.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well they did not say that would be it, but they did say that raising the level cap is not going to happen 'anytime soon', & it was implied that we will see CoV long before we see a level raise. & a level raise would only be to 60 I would think.
Adding levels means adding content, including new city zones, new mission types, new villains, etc... adding 10 levels means adding a lot of content, adding 25 levels means writing an expansion pack. This game will be dead long before we see L75 IMNSHO. & I don't expect CoH or CoV to die before 2007.
The stuff that came out in issue 1 was really just getting the game to where the devs wanted it at release. But they ran out of time & needed to put out a product, so they finished the content to L40. Once the L50 stuff was finished they raised the level cap. Regular level raises is not part of the program...
The beginning of December will be 3 months from the last update. Since it has been stated that they want issues to be released every 2-3 months, the end of December seems very late.

That is one of the reasons I hated that stupid “Space and Beyond” TV show that Fox came out with a couple of years ago. They were using trained fighter pilots as everyday grunts. What!?!? Do you know how much money and time the military spends to train just one pilot, and then you are going to use them as freaking infantry? I hope they fired what ever General thought up that idea.
About the Starship Troopers thing. I enjoyed it as a movie, but I'm a pretty big fan of Heinlein. I've always thought that if a writer is going to change the plot, setting, story, message, characters and morals of a story....don't freakin' call it by the same name as the book! It will only tick some people off. Try calling it something else and then put "inspired by So and So story" in the opening credits if you want to tribue something.
