Kudos to the art team - Lou's Garage
Ditto ditto ditto... I rerolled one of my characters and when I did this mission I had to take a lot of screen shots, it looked very cool. And the Nazi one with all the doors and the broadcasts in the background, very cool too.

I hate to kvetch, because I love the new artwork and models, but I had to bug one problem with Lou's back room:
There is no way for the parked truck to have gotten into that room unless he assembled it there. All the doors on the wall are loading docks, not garage doors. It could not have been driven in, and there is no way to get it out without disassembling it.

Well now, Lou is a bit of a gadget nut, and over the years he's had plenty of opportunity to scavenge all sorts of bits and pieces. One of his more useful gadgets is an unlicensed teleport module put together from some broken down bits of Skyraider equipment. He's been using that for several years now, as he can now use some nicer buildings for his business that would otherwise have been innaccessible, and as a bonus, it's damn hard to steal things from Lou's Garage!

Hehe, a bit off topic but- We have a level 30 Force Field/Psychic Blast Defender in our SG. He still had the Lou's Garage storyarc (circa level 14 or so) in his mission list. He simply hasn't slotted his attacks and suchlike, so he never did it. For a laugh, we select it and go in. He targets a level 14 Cog, uses his snipe attack.. And misses. We all have a laugh. Then I (level 41) use Dark Blast on it. It misses. I am now the subject of laughter, hehe. We dubbed it the Alpha Cog, from which all other Clockwork were wrought.
I remember being rather ho hum about the orginal "Garage" ie office building.. good for you devs.. thanks for the details
Take a dash of Illuminati, add a sprinkle of Mafia and just a touch of Omnipresnce and a healthy helping of mob violence...

While I do LOVE what's being done to low level content, can we get some more stuff for other areas as well? I'd love to see these kinds of updates being applied to mid level content as well. I don't know if it get's better at higher levels, but fighting Raiders and Family in the same office buildings gets old fast. As does fighting DE and BP in the same caves, Lost in the same sewers, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, it gets worse. Around level 29 or so you start getting identical missions (tilesets AND objectives) from two or three of your contacts. I've had to go arrest Frankie Frost twice (for myself; I've also helped others with it), saved the mob guy in witness protection two or three times; & apparently the "low-level" heroes who are raiding the 5th Column bases are real idiots, because I keep being asked to provide a distraction for them.

Yep - we've been going back and customizing a bunch of early level stuff. One of the big assets to City of Heroes is that players LOVE to roll up and play tons of characters. As a result, I want to make sure that the old content gets freshened up.
To sum up: on every expansion, we'll be customizing art & software for many pre-existing missions. So sometimes, you'll see something new in something you've done before.
[/ QUOTE ]
Another shout out to the devs, you guys rock consistently. Name me another MMORPG that has almost doubled it's content in such a short time? That garage mission was a shock....in a great way!
All I can ask is have more of the missions have that 'lived in' feel. When I enter a 'Freakshow'ed mission, it's great! When thje next warehouse looks plain, it stinks!!!

Couple things I like:
. The new Freakshow mission tiles - brilliant! All sorts of scavenged goods...
. The Hellions and 5th Column missions for the lower levels - great tilesets, sound and it really feels like a base in a warehouse or burnt-out building. I like the pentagrams and all the other goodies in the Hellions missions...
. On the Bastion taskforce, we went to the same "cave" for 2 missions... it was funny to walk in and get the message "The smell of fresh paint is overpowering." Not sure if that meant how the base was new, or how quickly they cleaned it up for us to come in and wreck it again

Is there any specific reason why some of these new enchanced missions can't be applied to all the missions States? For instance things like the glowies that you have to attack instead of click, or the villain specific art in door missions?
I have horrible Alt-itis, so I have seen alot of the changes with my new characters, but I would really love to see them with my more advanced characters too. I was kinda curious why they weren't made accessible at all levels. Its mostly just an artwork skin right?
Have fun !
Speaking of awesome mission environments:
Who doesn't love ice skating in Frostfire's hideout?
That was so much fun.
[ QUOTE ]
I love the Outcast missions with the ice on the floor (that you can slip on!) and even Ice slides that you could slide from an upper level to a lower one. There was one that could be used like a halfpipe. Great touches.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's downright silly how much time I spent riding that halfpipe the other day. Someone should compile a list of CoH "mini-games."

What?!
I HATE that all of my old characters are constantly suffering from new content being given to lowbie players without any way for my high level characters to access it.
Wait, I do have a way, but it involves 10x the effort of making a new character, it's bugged, you get almost nothing for a reward despite the same risk as always. It's called Exemplaring.
Thank you Statesman, for giving me the last reason I needed to cancel my account.

I Agree wholeheartedly!
I mean what did high lvl guys ever get from issue 1?
wait never mind, the protal Corp...
But then they got shafted if inssue 2!
oh, shadow shard, i forgot...
Damn you statesman for providing more high lvl content for free with each update and then having the nerve, nay, the GALL to provide new content for lower lvl charecters who have yet to experience all the content in the game!
But what is this you say? Some high lvl players make alts and dont want to be bored? And so you add new content that benefits both the alts and the new low lvls? UNACCEPTABLE!
psh
on a serious note, now that youre leaving: can i have your stuff?
p.s. I'm new to this whole internet thingy... does sarcam translate properly through text?
Edit had to edit as i did just a little research rather than spout off the top of my head:
issue 1 gave high lvls:
Rikti crash Site
Peragrine Island (portal Corp)
Sewer Trial
Issue 2 you got:
the shadow shard
and the Eden Trial
so in the span of 2 free expansions you got like 4-5 new villian groups, 3 new zones, and 2 new trials with another new issue and a whole new gaming experience (COV) on the horizon...
you are seriously needy. I'm glad your not MY girlfriend.
Wow...dev's add content and this tool is mad enough to quit.
Go figure.
Oh yeah, the shadow shard...
You must mean that place no one ever goes because the mobs are tweaked out where even the minions chain hold.
If anything you're Cryptic's tool, fanboy...
Such retarded and all encompassing statements from the Statesman are just one of many many reasons I'm quitting. I'd tell them to you but CuppaJo would have a BF.
So he wants High Level Content
But High Level Content that's Easy..
Not...challenging content...
...easy...

Noticed a lot of this with several starter 5th column and Hellion missions. The hellion hideout full of flames and smoke was just choice...and the warehouse decked out in 5th propaganda and tech really set things off nicely.
Definite snaps to the team on these.
My only complaint with the new tilesets is that they aren't used very much. The only Freakshow mission with the Circus-like tileset was the Teh Pwnzorz (sp?) one, and I've only seen the Rave setting once (not counting the Dance Club), and the Dyne Lab twice (two different looks, too). The 5th Column outpost was also only seen once, even though I've fought 5th Cols in warehouses since then.
However, Statesman's comment that every new update will add more of these tilesets to older missions makes me happy.

Hehe, the Hellion hideout also has the Puzzle Box from the Hellraiser movies. I have a screenshot of it somewhere...

I guess you're just as blind as the devs then since you don't seem to see in anything other than black and white. That's how swarms went from being far too much experience to worthless. That's how smoke grenade went from being a huge debuff to a nothing debuff.
Guess what? Killing the same mobs with the same stupid animations at level 40+ isn't new content. You can add mobs to this game all day and you've added ZERO CONTENT.
Content is details like Lou's Garage, one small example. Frostfire's mission is another. Still these are only minor graphics and model changes, something I myself can do to this game in less than ten minutes with Adobe Photoshop. I'd explain to you how you could edit every single detail in the game but it's against the EULA now to make the game more interesting yourself.
Content is being able to do something new that your character couldn't do before. Fighting the same stupid mobs in a slightly changed location with the same powers of chain hold/stun whatever is NOT NEW CONTENT.
Take level 40+ for example and you'll see it's definately missing something...
1 - Shadow Shard: Only accessable by flyers. Nothing to really do excapt fight pointlessly difficult mobs. Why even fight the creatures on the shadow shard when they are ridiculously hard compared to PI street counterparts?
2) Hydra Sewer Trial: Still broken since it was added. Guns that are required to defeat the hydra don't spawn when they should or don't do enough damage. Either way, I've run out of ammo before completing the task more often than not. Usually this mission is used as a boss XP farm since it isn't good for much else.
3) Hamidon: The devs have openly stated that Hamidon is working fine, yet if you're not playing a blaster or empathy defender, don't expect to be anything more than a cheerleader. Overheard at the Hamidon crater, "Tanks and scrappers, please leave, you're causing the blasters to lag!"
I guess I'm just crazy though since I don't think that any of that is very good content. Even worse I t hought that since the game pretty much forces you to level at some point no matter how much debt you accrue and since you get to pick new powers at each level, that the idea behind the game was to level.
Appearantly this game is just for alts though, since players LOVE to reroll so much. Go ahead and delete everything you have that's 30+ if you want to follow Statesman's ideas and reroll some level 1 alts. It's just too bad that no one can get through Statesman's thick skull and showl him he's wrong, so I hope the cancellation of my account will. If not... eh... what do I care, right? See you in WoW.
I'd give you all of my stuff except items haven't been implemented yet...

I may have a near-sighted eye, a far-sighted eye, astigmatism and be half-colorblind, but I can see fairly well. Swarms shouldn't give experience, because they're underlings, and besides people who like to complain for the sake of complaining, the vast majority of the population consider what happened to Smoke Grenade a "fix." Efficiency aside, I prefer things in balance, that's why I left Star Wars Galaxies.

I suppose that's what the Task Forces are for. Content is in the storylines, not in the graphics. Reading is great!

They're minor cosmetic changes, that's a given, but people seem to enjoy them nonetheless. It's a parade, if you choose not to be involved, then take your hand off Nemesis' weather machine and sit aside and let people have fun. If that's not your cup of tea, then no one's forcing you to drink.

I would have considered new powers to be new content then? So every other level (and every other, other level) would give new content then right? Wheeee.
Personally, I always carry 2 or 3 Status Resistance Inspirations myself. I might never get those Restrained Badges. Damn my readiness!

It's not only accessible to those whom can fly. There's a very extensive geyser system that no one likes to use because they've had it good with being so much faster with their own travel powers that they hate being slow for once. Fly has often been looked at as the least favored ability, with jumpers and teleporters and runners being able to always get everywhere faster than they have. I for one think it's a good idea to have at least one zone that flyers can excel at, as it pertains to balance things out and offer the power some great practical use. I'm sorry if you don't feel this way, but we all can't be super speeding jumpers. Some want to be original.

It's broken? Lots of people seem to be able to do it. There's some major discrepency in that you can't be over the level cap to use the weaponry on the Hydra head. I still see more and more people carry the Charmed Badge either way.

How unfortunate. Oooh well. I hate having hard things either. Kerafym was eventually defeated. Took 200 people to do it, but it was done. More conviction to your cause, I say.

I have 6 characters. Why wouldn't anyone have at least 5, if not just to try out all the archetypes? People enjoy different things. It seems a vast majority enjoy trying new things. I suppose that's because it's such a positive characteristic of a good natured person. Who doesn't enjoy being with someone who likes to try new things? That's where real life experience points come in (I guess that makes me a level 3 college student with 3 dots to go)!
I suppose if you're that stubborn in your character and so heavy-set in your ways that you are so threatened with change, then I suppose you may feel slightly irked. That's really not my problem to try to 'fix' you to my opinion. I figure if you're in this mindset, you're in it 'til the end, so good luck with that.
