"I got a rock"

I love the rock idea too

And I gotta say it again, You guys are the best Dev team I've ever seen in a MMO game

Wouldn’t be funny if they tied the rock into a future event, that if someone still had there rock they could one shot a monster with it because they were somehow susceptible to such a rock. “Sticks and stones can break his bones, but no other power could hurt him.” Well at least not as bad.

Positron all the way on the rock.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

I nearly fell out of my chair first time I got one...

"I burn my candle at both ends, it will not last the night. But Ahhh my friends and Ohh my foes it makes a lovely light!"

When I was a kid, there was no cable, no VCRs, no DVDs, no computers and the TV had three channels.

The Charlie Brown specials were HUGE! It was one of the best parts of Halloween. Every kid waited and waited and tuned in for it.

So when I saw "I got a rock", I knew exactly where it came from. Fun stuff!

And to think, back then having two TVs was a Luxury :P

Well... Still is, to a lot of people.... Ok, having a Color TV was a Luxury

Somehow I ended up being the designated rock holder for my group. No tricks, a few treats, and 9 rocks. Man I hope we get to keep these for a while.

I'm thinking of going into the Pet Rock business.

Ok Course that idea in Netrunner of rocks from the moon is from Moon is a Harsh Misstress. My favorite book by Heinlein

I don't know if it's related to the Peanuts thing, and maybe I'm seeing links where there aren't any, but I remember a Netrunner card with the title "I got a rock." I was told it was a reference to some Cyberpunk thing, referring to a corporation with the ability to drop a satelite or meteor onto someone's house from orbit.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Netrunner card is the same Easter Egg... it is referencing the Peanuts cartoon.

The event the card refers to is the destruction of Boulder (Denver?), Colorado by the Tycho Mining Corporation on the moon. They used a mass-driver to launch a big chunk-o-Moon at the Earth. (At least that's what I can remember from when I used to run 'Punk. I am sure someone will fact check me and point out if I am wrong.)

Brilliant, Positron, that is 100% ROFLMAO material right there. I deadpanned to my wife the first time I got this temp power, "I got a rock". *golf clap* Well played, VERY well played.

Heh, I also tend to think of Netrunner and Cyberpunk every time I hear this phrase... was that the 'Urban Renewal' card that had the 'I got a rock' flavor text? I remember the card, once played, thoroughly nuked the bejeebers out of the opposing runner... Kudos to the Heinlein 'The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress' reference poster as well, while Starship Troopers (the original novel, let me be clear) is my favorite Heinlein novel, I have to give a nod to 'Harsh Mistress' and the simple elegance of throwing rocks from the moon. That and the Heinlein short story 'The Long Watch', which is probably my favorite piece of moon-related fiction.

No, the Netrunner card was actually titled "I got a rock." IIRC, Urban Renewal did 4 damage, and I Got a Rock did 15 but required more "tags" on the runner. (For reference, the base max health of the runner was five.)

You know, now I have this desire to pull out my Netrunner cards...

Thats because it was a great game. If theres one thing about Richard Garfield, it's that he knows what makes a fun game. It's too bad that Wizards of the Coast ruined magic with way to much errata and way to many cards. In a way, I'm kind of glad Netrunner didn't suffer the same fate.

Netrunner was (and still is) a very cool game.

and yep, "I Got A Rock" nods to that Peanuts goodness.

It's a Black Ops Node card, requires two or more 'Tags' on the runner AND three Agenda points. At which time it delivers 15 meat damage.

yeah, toss 15 cards from your hand there Runner-boy!

All we needed was the sheet with all the holes cut in it...

I can't tell you how many times I've used that line while on a team and people start listing the enhancments/badges/whatever they've gotten. Now everyone's going to think I'm making a lame reference to the CoH Halloween event rather than a lame reference to an ancient Peanuts cartoon.

CURSE YOU CRYPTIC!

My rock has a picture of Dee Snider on it saying "I Wanna Rock!!" It's pretty cool.

I used Build Up and Aim then threw it at an Eochai, it was pure comedy. Wish I had demo'd it.

so when are they going to make the rock an accolade power for getting all six halloween badges? Because we all know they have absolutely no choice but to do so.

I logged out normally and my two rocks had vanished.

What gives?

Virtue: multiple characters.

CoH/V: Woot! Maybe Fun is to be had once again.

Ack! RUN! Regen is glowing mean & green!

If it reduces you, it's a nerf.
If it buffs the mobs, it's challenge.
They are not the same.
