"I got a rock"

I would love to shake the hand of the brilliant developer who thought to include this "temporary power" in the bevy of treats for Halloween.

The first time I encountered this I was with my supergroup on teamspeak. We were all shouting about the goodies we recieved from Trick or Treating. After listening to the others talk about temporary powers and inspirations a younger member deadpanned "I got a rock", a perfect imitation of Charlie Brown.

I almost fell off my chair laughing. The real irony was that the guy in question has never even seen that Peanuts special, but was clearly channeling Charlie Brown. Hilarious!

Who was the Dev behind this treat, I'd like to thank him or her!

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

The rocks, well, rock...but wish there was more temporary one shot powers, like rotten eggs (to disorient a foe) or toilet paper (to hold a foe, or maybe confuse him).... Maybe jack o lanterns to hurl like the strengs do. but the rocks were very cool.

"Looks like we arrived in the nick of time. What does that make us?"
"Big damn heroes, sir."
"Ain't we just."

I don't know if it's related to the Peanuts thing, and maybe I'm seeing links where there aren't any, but I remember a Netrunner card with the title "I got a rock." I was told it was a reference to some Cyberpunk thing, referring to a corporation with the ability to drop a satelite or meteor onto someone's house from orbit.

The Netrunner card is the same Easter Egg... it is referencing the Peanuts cartoon.

The event the card refers to is the destruction of Boulder (Denver?), Colorado by the Tycho Mining Corporation on the moon. They used a mass-driver to launch a big chunk-o-Moon at the Earth. (At least that's what I can remember from when I used to run 'Punk. I am sure someone will fact check me and point out if I am wrong.)

Ok Course that idea in Netrunner of rocks from the moon is from Moon is a Harsh Misstress. My favorite book by Heinlein

I wonder if it has magical provoking powers, that Vampyre Lord was pretty mad at me after I bounced it off his head.

The rock is awesome, thank you Positron.

Save your rock for PvP, then get a defeating shot on a villian with it, proclaiming: "HUMILIATING DEFEAT!"

Roach went trick or treating with Midnight's Skye. Dark out. Real dark. Roach wanted to ring doorbell, but Midnight's Skye did not let him. Midnight's Skye got candy. Roach hold out bag. Roach got rock. Roach picked up rock and rock spoke to Roach. Roach named rock Rocky the Rocky Rock and will hold and love forever and ever. Thank you BrownArmorSuitedMan.

It's tough to get all the conditions met for "I Got A Rock" in the Netrunner CCG. But when you do there's nothing quite like the ability to pwn the opposing player with a rock flung at him from orbit.

I'm waiting to see if ppl get a Lump of Coal roundabout christmas.

When the servers went down for maintenance, I crashed out, and lost the three rocks I had carefully gathered. Spent the evening [censored] (in character) about my 'stolen rocks'. Much to the amusement of the local 'Trick or Treat' gang.

Great Job!

Rend this space....

Wow. A dev who's played Netrunner. No wonder Positron is cool. Now if only the giant pumpkin headed spawn had Santa hostage...

So does the rock damage scale up the higher level you are? It'd be funny to one-shot a grey with a rock. Hell, it'd be even funnier to bean Dr. Vahz with a rock and watch him collapse.

Not only do we have the rock tie-in, but we have the great pumpkin himself as well. Oddly though, that spot we found him in over in Talos wasn't a pumpkin patch, nor did it seem terribly sincere.

I had this thought to write up a little peanuts CoH bit with CB repeatedly getting rocks then going to town with them on the pumpkin king as Linus shrieked in horror, but I honestly didn't think I could do it justice.

The moment I heard what "Treats" would be available for the Halloween event and that "A Rock" would be one of them I knew someone at Cryptic was a Peanuts fan. LOL I used to watch that cartoon every October for over 20 years. I finally got a rock. ( All they ever gave me as a kid trick or treating was candy... sheesh!! )
