Newsman badge--very sly!

The Newsman exploration badge you can get in Faultline seems to have a tricky background to it. It reads:

The Theodore Knight building was home to many Super Groups in the years before the Rikti War.

Okay. That got my wheels turning.

Theodore Knight
actor Ted Knight
his newsman character Ted Baxter
the Baxter Building
home of the Fantastic Four supergroup

Man, that's just as twisted as the streets of Faultline themselves!

Wow, that's either a very clever twist or completely coincidental. Although, Positron releasing info on badges in cryptograms makes me think it's the former

You know, I had the line "and Kevin Bacon fits in there somewhere..." all ready to go and took it out at the last minute.

One of the recent scientific americans had a bit about the six degrees idea that works right in with this. Like and phrase can be manipulated concept by concept to fit another in 4 links or less.

Note, this isn't friends to friends, but concepts to concepts, so it can be much more liberal in its linkage.

Yeah, that's the one I thought of. Was it an accident that this is the exact name of a super hero? I wouldn't be surprised if it was, considering how many superheroes there have been.

Wow! Positively Positronic!

I believe Ted Knight also did the "IN the Great Hall of Justice" voice over work from the original Superfriends Cartoon way back in the day.

Right you are, as well as doing voice work on several other shows such as New Adventures of Superman, the Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure, Batman/Superman Hour, and a few others. You get a cookie!!!!

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I thought of Starman before I thought of the actor, since I was a big JSA fan and never really cared for the Ted Knight character on MTM show.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

another one(although totally obvious)is the "around the bendis" badge,as in brian michael bendis, writer of powers, daredevil, ultimate spider man and about a bajillion other comics...
anyhoo, very cool-I'd like to go through the badges and see if there are anymore references to comics!

Here's another one:

Doc Whedon is a reference to Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, who is currently writing the Astonishing X-Men, and rumored to be directing X-Men 3 now that Brian Singer is on the next Superman movie. Joss is often used as a "script doctor" for various movies, Toy Story being one of them, hence the "Doc" part of the badge.

And of course, if you kill enough Vampyrs you get the "The Slayer" badge.

Ted Knight also played Henry Rush in the series "Too Close For Comfort", in which he had the occupation of cartoonist of "Cosmic Cow".

I enjoyed that show myself, but being 33 I guess my opinions are those of an "old man".

Ted Knight was in Caddyshack with Bill Murray who was in Ghostbusters with Dan Akroyd who was in Blues Brothers with John Belushi who was in Animal House with........

Kevin Bacon.

(sorry, couldn't resist)

And on a more on-topic note, the "Whitecap" badge is obtained by visiting the "cargo ship Alba Varden, a hotbed of criminal activity." Alba Varden is the ship in Lethal Weapon 2 in which the criminals commit their criminal activity.

A friend just pointed out to me that LW2 was a movie dealing with South African white supremacists...which would neatly relate the 'white cap' back to the KKK...Hmmm.

So far, my favorite reference (since I haven't seen any Babylon 5 references) has been "Doctor (or was it professor?) Zhaan". Zhaan was my favorite character from the TV series Farscape.

Speaking of which, If you're a Farscape fan, be sure to check out The Peacekeeper Wars, the miniseries which airs October 17th-18th. It rocks.

I love that 5th mission from the noob contacts that has you go get that crate. "They've been trying to steal it since WWII. Oh and whatever you do, don't look inside!"

Indy's the man! (This is from Raiders from the Lost Ark, if you didn't know.)

And speaking of raiders from the lost ark, where the hell do I find Duray?
