I'm stuck exactly at the same point.

I accidently quit while it was applying the new patch and I couldn't run the updater as it kept crashing. So I renamed the PIGG directory to force it to reload - and it gets stuck on the sound.pigg. I re-tried it 3 times, and it gets to the exact same spot and dies.

I'll leave it on like someone suggested and see what happens. Otherwise I'm quite screwed right now as I cannot play the game at all.

Trying that now.

After new checksum still at 0MB at 0B per second. Guess I'll have to wait until the mant period is over to see if it starts up again.

This will teach me to pay more attention on my computer when I have multiple programs running.

PS - after ablut 15 mins of nothing - it started up again and going strong.

So I renamed the pigg directory something else and then it started to redownload the files.

But it stopped now and is hanging and I am hopefully assuming its just becasue they are doing maintenance and it will start up again as soon as they are done.

If not - then how else can I reload the game? I haven't had to touch these files directly in over 5 years.

I got kicked out of the game a little while ago in the middle of chatting with my friend.

Tried to log in for about 20 mins - no dice. Then I got in. Played one toon for about an hour - logged off to change toons and now I can't get in again.

Hopefully they rememberd to feed the hamsters after the servers were down so long on Thursday.

Even just on the login screen - my task manager shows COH using between 92-98% of my CPU, which is also why I think I crash back to the login screen 9 times out of 10 trying to log in a character.

I know it gets that high when I am in the game and playing - but on just the log in screen, that doesn't seem right. All this happened after the last patch.

Starting today - every toon and every server I try to log in - the bar goes about 15%, stops for like 3 mins - then kicks me back to the login screen. Internet is working - the program lets me log in and see my servers and characters - but anyone I pick won't load into the zone.

Worked perfectly when I played yesterday.

I am having a lot of problems with the COH website lately. I can get to some of the pages, but for example I am trying to get to page to pre-order the Expansion Pack and all I get is this:

Some pages work fine, like the forums, but other pages I go to look like above and I can't do or see anything.

If anyone can help me figure this out I would appreciate it.

And city of heroes is the ONLY website I have this problem with.

Lately when I open City of Heroes I get the updater box with the buttons on the bottom, and they work fine. However in the frame where the little mini web page should be - I'm getting a white screen that looks like this:

and so on for the whole screen. The game works fine so its not a breaking issue - but its just odd as its been perfectly fine for 5 years.

I've also had random problems when I try to go to the COH main webpage. I get some wierd error that its trying to download a file called cityofheroes_com. But if I go to say www.coh.com/news - it opens just fine.

I'm sure its a related problem and so far I've made sure coh is in my firewall and ita added as a trusted site. I also deleted all coh related cookies just in case.

It happend to me after a patch a while ago, then after a few days it was fine until today's patch.

I still get the frame and the bottom buttons ok, just the middle part is messed up.

So far every time I try to goto www.coh.com or www.cityofheroes.com I get a dialog box asking it can't open file cityofheroes_com.

But if I type that address in my ipod touch browser - the web page loads just fine there.

I got to the boards site directly and that works fine - only the main coh site seems to e giving me trouble.

Normally when I play COH if I look at the process in Task Manager it usually goes up to between 750 - 850 megs of memory usage. But since I16 it climbs and climbs going easily over 1GB and sometimes really cuase my PC to go nuts. I have 2 GB memory, so I dont have to do a lot of disk swapping - but it sometimes really causes slowdowns and even crashed me a few times as the memory usage gets higher and higher.

I'm just wondering if this is a known issue and has anyone been seeing this.

I've seen a lot of people with must be a 'crawl' travel power as they take forever to get to zones or missions..

Since I started this post, I haven't had much to say since I've been busy.

First off, I am not against AE itself, or farming for that matter, hell I'm guilty of the latter myself many times over.

I am against AE being used by someone who buys the game at 9am and farms and farms and by 3pm he had a 50 and a 50 Kheldian.

It's a shame that they offered the AE edition as a purchase. If Issue 14 was just a free add on like the others, the easiest thing they could have done to stop noob abuse and all that was to make the AE unavailable to anyone who does not at least the 3 month vet badge. Yes, the new players could also farm in PI to get 50's but it would be much harder for them to do so as farms in PI tend to be closed to lowbies unless you have friends that will help you. This way you need to play the game at least 3 months and you would learn essentials like enhancing, mission selections, the different zones, etc.

But by having it as an edition to buy - you can't tell someone they just bought a game for a certain feature but can't use it for 3 months.

By this point its just getting sickening sometimes to play. Doing an AE farm (since that's about the only thing you can do now if you don't want to solo), with lvl 52 bosses, half the team quit because the 'xp wasn't fast enough, we should be doing lvl 54'. Even thouigh a lvl 1 went from 1 to about 10 in like 4 mob groups.

Or some toon that had whirlwind and while the tank was getting aggro by taunting the mobs, this jerk kept whirlwinding (is that a word? lol) into the mobs and scattering them all over.

To be fair, I've played with very good players who didn't even have the 3 month badge yet, but really were interested in learning all about the mechanics, and actually knew how to play the AT's really well, but I find that very rare.

Actually you can't tell if the servers are up - look at the date - that page is still dated 6/24.

Well at least we know on 6/24 they were up!

I hadn't noticed that until the other day that the day never changed.
