I had a feeling Twilight Snow was going to post in this thread.
Anyway, EA isn’t the best secondary out there (in terms of survivability or dmg and whatnot) but it is actually quite good, if it’s built right. -
Yes, generally just inf/min.
In AE though i think it is VERY important to count ticket/min too as this is were something like 90% of your inf should be coming from. You could easily have 3 inf/min but only 100 tix/min. (which means you need a better mish :P)
Of course, you need to run a few mishs to get a good average for these (thus the pausing during load times). -
Quote:Hero stats, which is hereAnyway, I was mostly wondering, what's the best way to determine my inf/minute while farming? Clear my inf, do exactly an hour of runs and divide my total earned inf by 60?
Sorry for getting off the brute topic, but it IS a farming thread.
I like to run a few mishs and pause during load times (since having a slow/fast comp would really **** with the numbers) -

I remember doing something like this on an SR. Got soft capped on just SOs, pre inherent fitness.

Quote:Interesting, considering SS has much more KB than elec. They are great for damage but honestly I am leveling a Fire/Electric tank and he is FAR more survivable than my SS/Fire Brute. Both are in their mid-30's and with only a few IO's. The Electric knockdown really helps to mitigate the alphas. I really love fire armor but is so weak as to not be in the same coversation as many of the other armors.
My opinion: go with a brute you will have A LOT more dmg and surprisingly comparable survivability if you shoot for the s/l soft cap. And one thing to consider when teaming is that there is a VERY high chance you will run into buffs, which can really make survivability a non-issue. So the brute can easily get very very close to tank survivability but the tank will never get similarly close to brute dmg. -
Quote:Hmm, interesting. I sit at 301% global when my Proc fires (hitting the rech cap, yay!). I just might have to take a look at this. You just might have something there considering the fences, burn, ball, FS attack chain takes about 7.128 seconds to do but each power rechs in less than 6 seconds. I will take a look a this later today. With insane levels of recharge, go with fire. I used to have Mu but got to the point where I was only useing one of the AoE attacks before footstomp would recharge and elec fences just sat there neglected. I went with fire, single slotted char (thank you inherent fitness for the extra power slot) and now have a total of 3 aoe attacks and a damage aura. I kill stuff way faster than before, but then again I am at +250% global recharge most of the time (thank you FF proc). YMMV
This is exciting
Edit: Ok, tried it out and i was not able to maintain a full AoE attack chain 100% of the time without using fences. HelinCarnate, do you use your heal or anything? -
Yes, i have to say crabs are up there. Sweet buffs, nice debuffs, pets, dmg, toughness. They are just...sweet.
And I for one think ill/cold is a little bit more diverse than an ill/rad, as they are also good buffers, (and better debuffers for the most part imo) But thats more opinion than fact >.<
And to answer the question "how many people out there explicitly build for diversity?" i can say i do not. I almost always build toons do to a few things and do it well...really well. While being "ok" or even really really really really bad at most other activities (this is most evident of my farmer). My diversity is having so many toons :P -
Quote:That.I guess I could fit into that category.
I love playing my 50's, and I only have a few characters I play regularly(all IO'd out 50's). If I create a character it is because I plan on getting it to 50, get the accolades, and get him all IO'd up.
I used to have Altitis, but I guess I got over it and then some. -
For some versions of RotP the untouchablity doesnt kick in for 0.25 seconds i think. Just like all the rez temps. In that case yes it is possible to die. All that KB/stun should save you though i would hope most of the time.
The brute/scrapper/tank version, unless it was changed within the last 24 hours, gives you the untouchable right away. You can res in anything from those, ive even used them in the middle of apex blue patchs of death. One of the reasons i love that TF -
I for one have never had trouble with trapdoor. Half of my toons killed him without even going after the clone things. Of course i lower it down to -1 first. :P

Quote:This is not a valid way to compare them. For example, SS is widely cosidered one of the better AoE sets and it has exactly one AoE power, a tier-9. It just happens to be so incredibly good all by itself that it puts the set up high in AoE comparisons.
The Mu AoE immobilize, is not really much of a damage power would you really try to farm with it and nothing else? Fireball hits harder than ball lightning.
SS is cosidered one of the best AoE sets because you only need that one power thanks to burn and APPs/PPPs(mu).
With mu, you can always have an AoE up. That cant be done useing fire.
Also, fences IS a good dmg power. In fact it should end up doing over 40 dps. Thats about what fire ball does, but it has higher target cap. But then you also have ball lightning which does about 30ish dps. So in the end mu does about 1/3 more AoE dps than pyre. -

Wow, thats just odd. Shouldnt it be the other way around?

Um, let me put it this way: if /SD has only SOs and the /FA has only SOs. The /SD toon will have about 30% def or so, if they grab fighting and other def PPs, and about 30% s/l res and 15% against everything else but PSI. And that -dmg and some +hp
The /FA toon with have about 50% s/l res 30% or so e/n and 90% fire and about 6% def. But they do also get their heal, which can end up at about 48% hp every 17 seconds or so.
The SD is going to be much much much much more survivable before we factor in any possible buffs from teammates, which I really don’t want to go into right now >.<
Now we get into IOs: /SD toon should be soft capped to m/r/a and have at least 50% DRR most of the time. The /FA toon on the other hand now is soft capped to s/l and has 0 DRR, their heal should also be up a bit more often hopefully. If each toons is fighting mobs that are doing s/l dmg and killing them quickly enough survivability would even out quite a bit.
But now let’s say you are fighting a mob that is nrg with -def. The /FA will have only about that 30%ish res and maybe 15% def at most. This def will melt away within seconds and they are left much easier to hit with very little res. This should be where the "dead mobs do no dmg" thing should kick in, right?
But now the /SD toons fighting a mob just like this luckily they have at most 7.5% tohit. They might get hit once or so but that only ends up sending their def down by a few % points. But they would be were their "dead mobs do no dmg" thing should kick in (as well as any possible def points they have beyond the cap). And the mob is dead before any major -def can be layered on, right?
Dont get me wrong though i LOVE /FA and actually kind of hate /SD, even though /SD is more survivable. -
Quote:Then they are doing it wrong.I add another "much" to the pile.
I've played support where we had 2 brutes, 1 /FA and 1 /SD for LRSF. FA brute will do a couple of mobs and faceplant. The SD brute holds the agro from the heroes until the FA brute rezes and then eventually goes down again. The FA brute was pretty much a glass cannon, short burst of high damage and going down in a blaze of glory. Well, eventually, he'll get back up, but by that time, the rest of the team already finished off the hero.
I have actually tanked the LRSF on my SS/FA before, died a couple times but so did everyone else. Of course, i have seen plenty of horrible /FAs in my day. Was another LRSF we had one that couldnt hold up against AVs for more than 10 seconds, it was really kind of sad.
Edit: what Auroxis said. -

Imo, it is far far too early to start speculating about the Oslot.
-
Mu has better AoE than fire, because it has 2 AoEs. Additionally all you need to get are the two AoEs, no useless filler power. Whereas fire only has one AoE and you need to get 2 other powers to get to that.
However, fences has that -KB effect which can be a bad thing unless you are farming most of the time.
But if you can get patrons i would recommend soul rather than fire if you don’t want the -KB effect from fences.
So sum up: mu if you are a farming toon or soul if you aren’t. Fire just uses too many powers, imo. -
From an offensive standpoint FA wins...by a lot....and by even more on a brute.
At their dmg caps (which is really really easy to get too) i believe burn alone has better AoEdps than SC. Thats taking into consideration that SC has 16 target cap and burn only has 5, it still wins.
But SD is much much much much tougher. -
1. Dont worry about increasing your max hp
2. NEVER get musculature on a brute EVER. Id say go with spirit or cardiac (looks like you could use the end) -
I have to disagree with everyone that says not to soft cap s/l. The only other thing you would want to slot for is rech and you get dminishing returns which means anything over about 60% rech is kind of a waste. And 60% rech, on an /elec no less, will be really easy to get and still soft cap. And once you get to that soft capped you will find even against romans your def doesnt dip too far. Of course, its not cheap.
