Man, I hated the grind up to 50 on my old /SR Scrapper. Now, I know that Brutes =/= Scrappers (not quite anyway), but I hated just about everything about getting to the bloom. Once there, I started to enjoy myself a bit more, but I wouldn't want to go through that ever again.

+1 to most of the above.
Acrobatics has been said to be of limited use after the nerf a few issues back. I haven't taken it since that point. You might as well switch it out for Manuevers from Leadership if you're getting that pool as well. On top of additional defense, you can slot in another LoTG.
I'm of the opinion that on a Corruptor, Choking Cloud is generally an aggromagnet that you don't need. I agree that stacked with HoB, it can produce some awesome mitigation for your nuke move. However, as HOB it has a knockdown effect, a brief +def self-buff, AND HoB doesn't drain your end bar (so you can continue an attack chain on anything still standing), I don't see Choking Cloud as being necessary for DP/. Other ATs may have different results with CC, but it is generally skippable on an Corr. Also, you don't need the additional end drain (not that it is likely to be a big deal for you).
- Generally speaking, I put in some Defense Debuff into Radiation Infection, particularly as Touch of Lady Grey has some decent set bonuses. Of course, YMMV on that. It's not a bad thing to throw in for AV fights though.
- Travel Powers is travel powers, do what you want. SS (plus stealth) could help you with positioning for Piercing Rounds hat-tricks. -
Ah shoot, I'll miss these, particularly the caption contest!
-
Check the stalker forums for DB/Nin - I've not played DB/ yet, so I don't know the end issues there. However, /Nin is probably the most popular secondary for Stalkers.

Well I'm partial to seeing the face, so I'd say #3. If not, then one.
I also might suggest changing the chest detail to a black-colored heart - but that's if you particularly want to play up his dastardliness.
EDIT: Oh, btw, do you have any designs for female-body costumes?
Quote:I thought about Stalker but I hate being hidden all the time.
I agree with BS/ as lending itself to the iconic nature of the concept. I'll caution that /SR is an end-heavy set that blooms very late. You might want to consider an offensive powerset that is cheaper on end.
I'm presently playing a DP/Rad corr and enjoying it, you could definitely consider the /rad powers as being probability manipulation (which, actually, from the game mechanics it actually does manipulate probability, i.e. to hit and defense). DP/ doesn't exactly keep with his playing-card motif, though. -
If anything, they'll launch a whole slew of $9.99 emote packs.

Fang Widow Foyle.
In a weird combination of Marvel Zombies, 28 Days Later, and Ultraviolet, she's from an alt reality where Arachnos rules the world, but the world is also overrun with rabid vampires. She's one of the few who have been vaccinated against the plague, which gives her the typical Primal-Earth widow powers. Or, she's a completely insane woman with incredible combat skills. You know, whatever. -
Hey folks, this is a TL;DR of my last post on my arc, Task Force: Mutternacht.
I changed the final mission and the conclusion of the story significantly, so I would like some opinions on how it fares compared to the original version. There were no other (present) changes to the rest of the arc, so instead of asking players who know the story to run back through four other missions to get to the one I need feedback on, I might post a Final-Mish Only duplicate of the arc.
Does this seem reasonable? Would anyone help me out on this or would the reviewers and players rather just redo the whole arc to get a sense of the full narrative?
Please offer opinions in this thread if I should post a Final-Mish Only version. If you have comments about the arc itself, please see my original Arc Thread (linked above). -
UPDATE 07/15/2010
Revised the final mission, changing the map, final battle, and the ending somewhat.
- Mission 5 map changed to Atlas Park Fashion Show: Under the guise of Ms. Liberty hosting a ceremony for new heroes.
- Mission Start clue changed to reflect the new map and a rationale for being there.
- Mission Start Popup changed to update the revised objectives (destroy TV Trucks), and made it more clear that there are allies you can get.
- Mission Objectives revised: destructible Generators were removed, exploding Trucks put in.
- Changed Mr. Inquiry's text around since he's no longer trying to get access to Sister Psy, but rather trying to get to Ms. Liberty directly now.
- Final Boss changed Agent Indigo - Kat/Ninja AV (will scale to EB). Used the mock-up I mentioned above. Less annoying now that the self-heal is gone. Caltrops are still annoying and she has wicked defense, but you can whittle her down. Silent Blade's mirror of her powerset also rather helps (caltrops vs. caltrops)
- Ms. Liberty is now a "friendly" hostage, to whom you speak after defeating Indigo.
- There is now a Mission Complete clue detailing the conversation with Ms. Lib.
- Mission Complete Pop-up & Debriefing changed to reflect the new conclusion. Mostly the same though.
Thoughts:
1. Riffing on Policewoman's comment above, I felt like Indigo's betrayal of the player is sort of borne out by the kind of cloak-and-dagger work she does normally. After all: two can keep a secret, if one of them is dead. Unfortunately, I could not slip that line into her text. She's also less trouble than Ms. Liberty can be in either Pet form or EB form.
2. I softened the despair of the ending due to several complaints I received that the story was taking power out of the player's hands, forcing them to go along with the conspiracy. I'm sort of on the fence on how to handle this. I rationalized that after taking all the abuse and demoralization from performing the villainous acts (and then being betrayed by your contact), it might make sense for the PC to take matters into their own hands and confront Ms. Liberty directly with the evidence. I feel it sorta loses some impact of the original narrative, but it does make things a bit more heroic in the end - while leaving some of the ambiguity intact. Did you do the right thing by giving it to Ms. Lib? Will she succumb to the corrupting influence of the film?
I feel the new ending is acceptable, although I feel less satisfied with it, and it puts some responsibility on the person most at risk with the film. This isn't supposed to be a wild divergence from canon, so I certainly don't want people to think Ms. Liberty is somehow innately corrupt and that the PC has given her the only evidence to expose her family. That's just not borne out in the story. Besides of which, it does add another level to the theme of "doing evil for a greater good" (shaking Ms. Lib's resolve = bad; inspiring Ms. Lib to investigate = good). As such, the new ending has the potential for building a sequel MA Arc off of it. We'll see where we go with that.
3. I didn't change the Arc Souvenir to reference the new ending, which I sorta felt like it should have (and I have room to do so if I wanted to) - but I really like how it is written at present, and shoehorning in something about Ms. Liberty's new quest just detracted from it. There's still a little mood whiplash going on, but not as bad as it could be.
4. Kinda wish I could have saved a bit more of Ms. Liberty's battle patter, but eh. You win some, you lose some.
FINAL THOUGHT: Need some folks to run this for the new mission. Alternatively, would people prefer that I put up a separate arc with ONLY the final mission to compare. I've already lost the text for the original ending, so I could not easily go back and reset it if the players think they like the original version more - but I could mock up something reasonable. -
I'm going to agree with folks on watching your ammo types. If you're soloing, you can't underestimate the benefits of Standard Ammo. The KB might get someone out of your heal range (bad), but while they are picking themselve back up, that's time you've got to handle other issues if you need to (recharging heals, attacks, managing insps, running!, etc). At this level, CoT cuts up real nice under fire ammo, which is good to remember.
I do, at this point, recommend taking Dual Wield. Concentrating your fire will start taking down foes a bit more efficiently than spreading your middle-of-the-road damage over a large area. I didn't take Empty Clips on my DP/ corr, but that was sort of a coin-toss vs. Bullet Rain (so far I've been pleased).
If you can afford, it, I do recommend slotting either the Achilles Heel Proc in Pistols, or the Lady Grey chance for negative damage proc in the same. One will ding out a reasonable -resist debuff, while the other adds a reasonably "exotic" damage type not commonly resisted at that level of play. -
This is for Solo? /Therm and /Pain are definitely team booster sets, since they are mostly buffs with a few debuffs later in the game. This won't help you be terribly survivable if you're pairing with the aggro monster that Fire/ can be.
Pain Dom is comparable to Empathy when you're thinking of soloing, so while you can heal yourself (somewhat) and have one debuffs - your best mitigation is probably a teammate. Thermal is sorta similar.
Fire Blast, on the other hand, pretty much goes with just about anything, being as it is the highest-damaging (out-of-the-box) blast set for corrs. /Dark, /Kin, /Rad are all popular combinations and will have available debuffs to keep Fire's ridiculous aggro potential from causing you to faceplant constantly. With soloing, a pinch of prevention in taking damage is worth a pound of healing. -
Nope, I actually checked all folders to see if they were getting crossed or something. It was looking in the base CoH folder. :/
EDIT: On the advice of someone in a global, I checked to see if the deleted files were removed or the missing files re-appeared. The ones I deleted to "make room" were back. Still no sign of the other files I can't seem to find -
Hey folks. Just popping in here, need to know if this is a known issue.
Tried to reload my power customizations that had been lost after one of the patches, and found that they won't come up on the load screen. They are still in the PowerCust File in my COH folder, but they won't come up on the "Load Power Customization" Screen menu.
Kinda annoyed by this, is there a limit to the number of "visible" selections on the loading screen? If they are still present in the PowerCust Folder, why can't I see them?
If anyone has a workaround on this, that'd be good too.
EDIT: Interface might be shot on the power customization load screen. I attempted to delete some old customization files (to see if some of the others "reappeared" if it was a screen-space issue), but found that they were still in the PowerCust folder after I exited the game. -

Honestly, any of the three will be good for DP, although for different reasons. DP/'s debuffs are not uber, and won't take the place of a good debuffing secondary (/dark, /rad) - but the damage and recharge buffs you'll see in /kin may also assist with the middle-of-the-road damage output you'll see on it.
-
To make a completely unhelpful suggestion, just make a Corr with some set other than /pain. While they make good support - I have quite a lot of trouble soloing them because of a lack of debuffs or self-buffs. Keep your DP/Pain for teams, but try something else if you want to solo. Dealing with Mez on a Corr (and other squishies) is just part of the experience (seriously, I can barely solo in RWZ with my fire/rad for all the danged LT-level Mesmerists putting me in near perma hold).

Okay, the fact that these glasses exist at all means my toons will be breaking them a lot at the bar in game.

oo hey. Thanks for responding Enrious. I wanted to point him toward the mentor project but needed a link.

Hey folks. Got a friend of mine to return to CoX after a looooong absence (around i11).
I'm trying to keep him updated on any changes to play since that time, but there's obviously a lot of information to download to him. I've already pointed him here and to Paragon Wiki - but I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for guides that can streamline this for returning players.
Thanks for any help. -
If you're talking about PVE - Yes. My elec/kin can solo EBs with minimal threat by bringing their end down to the point that they can only use their least damaging attacks is crucial. Not to mention you will have a little friend (Volt Sentinel) tagging them pretty frequently. Also, if you're going to sap, don't forget to slot a lil bit of End Mod into your heal, since it also has a -end effect on the enemy target
Soloing EBs might not sound like much, but this is not something my own fire/rad could do easily.
I questioned whether Mu Mastery was necessary on an elec/kin. Power Sink doesn't do much that Transference can't cheaper and faster. Power Conservation doesn't hurt, but again - you have Transference available. I've never liked the Mu hold, but I suppose having a Mu Pet for more sapping isn't a bad idea either (althogh I didn't opt for it on mine).
PVP -- don't know, don't do it much.
EDIT: Hey, btw, I liked your design on Guerra Nuclearra in the Virtue forum "Post yr Character" thread. -
I'm going to pick and pull the above poster's comment and pull out what DP/Rad can do:
Quote:Not a bad idea, and a /rad will always be welcome in a team due to heals and the occasional hefty debuff on a troublesome mob. If you are soloing, there are two things you need to be doing: 1. Standard Ammo (KB effects) 2. Radiation Infection (enemy -def & -to hit). You will be going through missions slowly, methodically, and healing every opportunity that you can, but this isn't a bad thing. You get to know your set very well.My advice at low lvls would be to find teams or your going to get frustrated.
Quote:IMHO if you want success with your DP you need to be able to stop the opposition hitting you so whatever secondary you have you need a good slow or hold.
/Rad is a popular secondary, it does a lot of things well. I think it's a good secondary for a starting Corr (it has next to no learning curve) and is low mental-maintenance* (end maintenance on the other hand - you're gonna want to watch your end usage). It also is a very forgiving powerset for builds. There are at least two skippable powers (Choking Cloud and Fallout), and up to four (Mutation, EMP - I don't recommend skipping the rez, and EMP can be handy but might not be impressed with the output YMMV) that can give you room for more in your primary or for power-pools. You will really shine in teams as you'll be contributing to everyone mowing down mobs, but will go slower solo because you don't have people soaking up the aggro you generate with your debuffs
I think DP/ is less important for what it does in damage output than what it can do for other effects to help your toon be survivable. The set has a lot of secondary effects which should be utilized as much as possible to your advantage. Remember that, work with it, expect to faceplant when you overextend yourself (don't be discouraged when it does - you're a squishy), and enjoy how awesome you look when you pop a cap in a critter running in fear from you and the shot carries them off their feet. =D -
Quote:You know, I wouldn't necessarily say that mutant would have to vaguely mean organic. I'd also like to see a "metallic" texture version of Organic Armor (which would go along with UM's reflections well). Also, if we're not going to get monstrous pieces, then there's always the possibility to getting more INorganic mutant pieces - Seldom's mention of "Shard Armor" could be very cool if actually gem-like (like DE crystal enemies), or sculpted Rock/Stone pieces for those of us who aren't Stone Armor (other than the standard stone texture - which really doesn't take advantage of the new graphics capabilities).I personally never thought mutant=bestial, just that mutant~organic. .... 'Shard armor' or something of the like might be more accurate.
I'd also would like to see some more auras. We haven't had any added through the Boosters since Cyborg. Maybe something like Warshade eye-flares, or a combat-triggered power-aura (like on the Cyborg Booster; thinking like Marvel's Phoenix or Psylocke), or a something with floaty power effects (sort of like those you see on the Thermal Shields).
Also: Organic Armor Shield Texture, Organic Armor/Bioluminescent claws, please.
