I also don't really wanna play live since i tried out elec/elec. Man, I can't wait for a solid white lighting bolt coming out of nowhere into the middle of a group then hittin thunder clap...
Made a nrg/nrg brute to tide me over I guess, and it is kinda fun so far. But jesus does he need stamina.
The healing power seems like, just from looking at it on paper, seems like it will be really good, and might be changed before live, but that is just looking at it. Boosts regen and end recovery as well as heals? Seems too good to be true. And my 3 50 scraps, /sr /inv and /regen, this would be my first straight resist scrap, so we'll see how long i can deal with getting hit a lot, and not having a bunch of heals to choose from. /inv is mostly resist, but the def is definatly there as well.
I really can't wait for elec/ and hope nrg/ is not far behind it. I'm just glad we get an elemental set that doesn't hve a bunch of swords that we already have. -
Where can I read about the new APPs, or can you read about them yet, I'm downloading test for the first time cause with this issue, I really can't wait to see what they are.
-
What is this physical perfection thing rumored about, and where can I read more about it.
And I had a db/da for a lil while, got it up to 36 (pre AE), and it was really fun, but it was hella bad on end, although I didn't have passive accs or set bonuses at all, so im sure its manageable with extreme attention. -
Yeah, im not sure what I can drop to get fireball ball either. I'd be happy with blast which I think u can get for two powers, although the aoe for ma/sr would be sweet. I know I can give up one power without second though, but would probably have to get rid of an attack from ma to just have the slots and power for another, and i'm already at a minimalist attack chain + DT or big groups.
If nothing else, It will give me a reason to respec my main and get some of the newer IOs, as he was pimped out with the first round of IOs, and hasn't messed with any of the new ones.
I'd expect to see a build soon for yall to critique. I'm not really sure how you would get soft-cap and still have a decent attack chain from MA with fireball or blast being extra. i took warriors challenge at 49 for a power with no slots needed, and I could drop elude as I only use it pvp, and only pvp once in a blue moon, although it does come in handy some pve, but not enough really.
I guess bottom line at least for me at the moment, is there are still too many variables out there for me to start thinkin too much about it yet. -
I can see my main ma/sr with fire just for fireball for the ryu costume that ive wanted to make, but didn't cause i couldn't shoot a fireball or do an upper cut, but now his 5th slot might finally be something worth switchin to.

If I were to change anything to MA (or Martial Arts Primary for Scrappers for the noob that needs definitions) it would be to add a chance to stun to all the attacks, or at least most, similar to what Energy Melee (here after referred to as nrg) gets. I love that Eagle's Claw (here after referred to as EC) has 100% chance now, but I think it would give the set a theme overall, even if it is similiar to nrg melee.
I think this change would make a lot of players happy and try it out more. But with all the animation changes, even though very brief and untested personally, and the performance boosts, I'll take what I can get really.
I would have more than one MA toon, but I just live in fear that I would want to play it more than my main, and I love him too much for that. -
My first, oldest, and main toon is a ma/sr, and it is by far the most fun toon ive ever made or have. He is about the only 50 that ever sees game time in the 48 months ive been playin.
And this was pre IOs and pre MA buffs several months ago.
And MA does have a distiction from the other sets. Mostly thematically. No weapon for one. Not sure if redraw actually causes u a penalty time wise or not, but I don't really care as i just hate it either way. Its good for a natural character. It doesn't look like bananas comin out of your every pore, which this is kinda changin shortly.
I just think for me it mirrors some of my favorite scrapper comic characters that dont need all these fancy powers/weapons, and just get in there and Kick @$$ -
When i heard the were giving u the option of adding new animations for MA i was sooo exited, when i heard they were punches, i was reeeeaaaalllly exited....when i seen them i couldn't have been more let down if they did nothing. SUCKS. like my dad always said, if your not gonna do it right, don't to it at all....... I mean really?

I would say not until you run Kaaaahhhhhnnnn tf. I haven't ran it on my new 50 kat/fire yet, but I ran it on my real old claws/regen, and regen just can't keep up with his insane amount of aoe and other AVs throwin stuff. Now I'm sure an AV soloist build would do better than my common IO build (don't play this guy a lot). But it will definatly be the very last time i do that tf with that toon.
I think my kat/fire will do better with a ton of melee def, but fffi think healing flames won't be able to keep up with his aoe. -
...and I don't like puttin my sword away, once i have taken it out of its sheath, i can't put it back till its spilled blood.
-
Yeah my kat/fire just hit 50 the other day and I had about the same idea, although i picked up boxing/tough instead of assault and tactics.
Tough has really helped my survivablity a lot. I am thinking of dropping caltrops/burn and picking up assault and something else, or just droppin caltrops and gettin assault and keeping burn. While i really do like caltrops/burn, it just doesn't do the same as having a troller on the team or fightin AVs. They start runnin when caltrops hit and continure to run after burn as went away as caltrops are still around.
Im only half way into slotting, have 5 obliteration sets which wiped out a lot of my cash, and the 3 heal procs, perf shifter proc, two lotg, only one achilles, prob gonna to to two as at least one should hit through a couple attack chains against AVs. -
You can slot obliterations in several of fire and bs attacks. They add a lot of recharge to attacks as well as global rech. I have 5 sets on my kat/fire, its like having a small purple and red popped at all times. The downside of that set, which I didn't really notice till after i slotted them is that they only barely reduce end costs, but with a set of them in consume, its up a lot and is very accurate, so no end issues there.
They are expensive, but you get 3% damage, 9% acc, 5%rech, 3.75 melee def and 1.875 s/l def from the set, which for a scrapper is the perfect set imo. You just have to worry about the end of the attacks, but since your bs/fire, which is similiar to kat/fire, it shouldnt be an issue if you have consume slotted well. -
There is some trick where you tp right up to romi or something before the cutscene. You can then pull romi and the three nictus just stay there the whole battle, even after you rez. Ive seen this done, but have no clue how to do it myself. I think it used to spawn a clone romi, but now i think they just stand there and look bored.

I'd say ma/regen. No weapon redraw from healin, dragon's tail is nice mitigation. eagle's claw will mez lts, and can stack with cobra strike, which i think is a worthles power anyway.
My first was ma/sr, next was claws/regen. I kinda wish I could switch primaries sometimes as I wouldn't have redraw on the claws/sr cept for poppin PB.
Martial Arts is just super fun, and it blooms pretty early, as does regen. At lvl 10 or 12 you can have 3 good attacks, fast healin and QR with recon as well. -
I usually get assault, sometimes alone, if I have one power slot left over at 49 on scrappers. Damage is never bad. I try and get tactics some. For leveling up, I look at it as only needing one acc in attacks plus it instead of two. Numbers wise this may be far from equivalent, but it seems to ge tthe job done. I usually don't ge sets goin till 50, only gettin the procs and bonus IOs early on as they are static for the most part.
I also strongly agree with the previous post about everyone getting leadership pools. Ive been on a few teams, not many, where we had 4 stacked leadership powers, and you don't need veng with all that goin on.
During the first few months of the 300 sg on infinity, you could really see how much it shined, along with grant cover. You really do'nt need a tank or healer in most situations when the whole team is soft capped with huge damage and acc bonuses to ensure nothing stands for long. -
I would do something with Cobra Strike. Make it a damage attack that debuffs res/def like starflier said, but a real attack, not 2 damage. Or leave it at 2-3 damage, and increase mag to 4. I like the animation as is.
CaK....man that animation is lame. It has immob for whatever reason, make it a nerve strike, or a knee kick and give it a crunchin sound when the immob hits. The animation as it is looks like your dancing not attacking. -
Just get two scrappers and screw tanks....
-
And also I'm not worried about end redux in it as the other attacks should have full sets or close to it with achilles procs
-
I am also lvl'n up a kat/fire at the moment, and was wondering the same question. I've been planin on gettin some achilles heel procs into my kat attacks.
I'm just used to puttin lotg in a togg or passive, does it auto the same way in an attack or is it a proc.
If the bonus is all the time like I assume it is, I'm thinkin lotg +def, achilles heel proc, 2 damage, 1 acc, 1 recharge.
or maybe the same 2 rares, 3 nucleolus, 1 def?? -
I agree with spider's last post, especially the last sentence.
If you are min/maxin, which is totally cool, and by using that phrase im not insulting it by any means, just the easiest way to identify it, there really is only one way to slot and play a toon.
If you want a kung-fu guy that does more than just kick, get other powers. AS does a lot with knockup that doesn't equate to a min/max equation.
I remember seein a guy, and this was before IOs, that had a pirate/scoundrel lookin guy that only had SK, TK, boxin, AS, and hasten that just went absolutly nuts with attacks. I asked him if it was fun, and he said it was a blast always havin an attack or two up and goin crazy. It looked fun seein it go on, and had to be more fun to play.
i think if you go purely from a min/max standpoint there is only one option, but is it fun for you to play personally?
I think the heart of this thread gets at something that I have wanted ever sense they let us vote on the new powers....Street Fighting.
I pictured it as a mixture of a lot of sets and some new attacks, for kicks, punches, elbows, knees, headbutts and who knows. And we got dual blades, which I see how it won in terms of voting, but the combo system just lost me, not in terms of understanding, but in terms of wanting to play it. -
I don't care what the dps is, im never getting rid of eagle's claw your using it whenever up. the mez is great on anything less than bosses, and you can stack it with thunder kick sometimes, and it just looks cool.
I had AS in my chain for awhile instead of TK, and switched when I heard that they buffed TK. Next respec I may switch back to see how it goes. After 4 years with the dude, a little change here and there is refreshing, and the Knock up just comes in handy a ton.l -
SR doesn't have any trouble with romans. with 95% def debuff, it takes quite a few lucky shots to get you spiraling downward. but as you will find after a whole lot of play, they can get lucky at any time. A few lts that your just not even worried about can hit you twice in a row and your dead and you don't even see it comin. Its the exception, but it happens.

Crushing impact has recharge bonuses and some other good bonuses as well for attacks, and its fairly cheap if i remember right
Scirroco has a nice regen bonus as well as acc and aoe def
Numina and regen tissue uniques help regen.
Efficacy adaptors would be good for both QR and Stamina for regen and recharge bonuses, and is IMO one of the best sets for scrappers in that it boosts recovery, health, damage, recharge, and regen, and you can have two sets being /regen. -
Get ya a hecatomb set for Storm Kick, as its your highest dps attack, and the pro will fire more in that you'll be using it the most often, and the bonuses from that set suit the power really well.
Touch of Death sets are good for the melee bonuses. -
I have also always got really good feedback from you guys.
I always team, and I find myself and other scrappers always sending tells about what is goin on, how do you like that powerset, how do you have that slotted, whats your regen rate or whatever at.
The most fun TFs are always the all scrapper ones, although I did an all def one that was fun.
