Quote:Increase the difficulty settings.I just started playing the game a couple weeks ago. I got a buddy who started the game as well, but he already wants to quit because he says it's just too easy, which is making it boring for him and his girlfriend.
I love the game myself, but I don't really know what to tell him, seeing as my highest level toon is level 9, and I just started doing the Hollows. But he does have a point, it has been pretty darn easy so far...any advice for some noobs who want more of a challenge?

On the character select screen, above the character list, there is a round button with three stars on it. Can you click it? If so, how many points does it say you have left to spend?
If not, then you haven't accessed the paragon point server. You should be able to see 0/0 spent even if you are not currently listed as VIP. -
Quote:Those bonuses have the same value, but a different name. They all stack.Chrono Shift can be slotted with Efficacy Adapter rather than doctored wounds, and provide better +recovery while STILL giving a +5% recharge bonus. (Speaking of which, if we are to take 5 LotG +recharge IO's into consideration, then your two Basilisk's Gaze sets with 7.5% values are wasted due to the 'only 5 of one numeric bonus' rule of IO bonus effects, so we can re-slot those powers with other sets to avoid wasting bonuses that will not matter. My personal preference would be for Lockdown with the proc.)

I haven't checked every combo, but I made a therm/fire defender, so it appears to be in.

6X Enhancement Unslotter...you receive 5 vouchers for a single Enhancement Unslotter...
4X Enhancement Booster...you receive 5 vouchers for a single Enhancement Booster...
Come on, guys, proofread.
And, yes, I'm nit picking over the one aspect of the system I can actually access. -
I can enter the store from character select, but not ingame. In the store it doesn't seem to remove options that you already have - I can buy both jump powers and ninja run even though I already own them and can access in the game.
And there is a problem where I can't finish the tutorial, but they keep making ingame announcements about that one. -

Looks like nothing is unlocked on the server when you start. I couldn't choose a transferred Widow and could only create the base archetypes available to everyone and none of the new sets - including temporal man. Testing now to see if I can unlock with a throwaway character and then get on with anything locked.
-
I've never seen the queued to join screen before. Not bad really, but would be nice if I could turn the music off.
-
I got all 6 gigs today in well under 2 hours. If there is a speed problem it is on your end.
-
Temporal Selection looks extra weak since it only appears to affect healing. If it also gave bonuses to the other buff elements, it would look better - more def, dam, and recharge from the corresponding powers. As it stands now, it's pretty much going to exist for it's own buff values and the enhancing effect seems ignorable.
-
First, I'm glad I followed my hunch and bought those Membranes.
Second, +recharge without +recovery is gonna hurt. -

The instructions for setting up the beta server still reference not working with the EU launcher. Since that launcher doesn't work for the normal game anymore, it's a moot point, but they do need to be updated to remove that irrelevant instruction.

Yea, a debuff heavy set with group defense and a group heal - that will be terrible for MMs.

Quote:Well, it does let us know that if this is how they define "hacker", then we can ignore them as a cyber-terrorism threat. So let me see if I read that right. They claim that 30 or so Hackers in North Korea are running bots in a couple of online games to sell money, items, and the like?
Um... .... This is different than all of the other bot runners in other games that originate in other countries ... how? -
Well, he blabbered on and changed the topic 3 times in a very short post. It's hard to address someone who can't stick to a topic.

Quote:No combination of incarnate or IO bonuses can replace a large -regen or -res. None can replace -dam. No combination of incarnate powers can replace fulcrum shift.I'd have to agree with this. No AT is useless, but none are absolutely necessary/crucial, either. It used to be that teams felt they just HAD to have a tank, empath, debuffer, [or insert any other] for just about anything, but that's not true (and actually wasn't even before incarnate).
As I've said, this empaths are useless meme is tired and has been (or could be) said about any AT in the game. Every AT adds something to a team, and whatever that something is can now easily (well, if you find grinding trials easy) be replaced by incarnate powers. This does not detract from the "usefulness" of all or any of the ATs, though it does make them all nonessential. I have zero problem with this.
I know it's fun to pretend that everyone is affected the same, but the simple truth is some sets are hit much harder by incarnate powers. It does no one any good to pretend that isn't true. -
Quote:Why would you need to replace the recovery value that emp has? It's overkill. Moreover, it's available less than half the time. A power that does less recovery and is constantly available is much more useful because it still gives all the recovery you could ever use and doesn't have downtime - and lookie, that's exactly what you can get with the incarnate power. Hell, even a kin can give you more recovery than you can ever need, and that happens at a lower level, with a lower investment of slots, is up permanently, isn't one shot and hope to get everyone, and also comes with +recharge just for ***** and giggles.Did you bother to read anything anyone has said? Have you bothered to read numbers?
There are no IOs or Incarnate abilities that can truly replace the Regeneration and Recovery values that Empathy has.
And the same problem with downtime holds for the regen as well. Regen aura is like a tier 9 godmode power. It's good until it runs out and then it's worthless. And its duration is short enough that it's not going to last through any fight where it's actually needed.
The further you get in the game with larger groups of enemies and bigger "bags of HP" enemies, the less useful Emp is. -
How is it "hiding" if it would never come up unless you made a special point of bringing it up. I've never "hidden" my gender in the game, but no one knows it.
-
Holy crap. My mind would even let me read the OP properly. I just automatically substituted in the more decent "will they be able to get PVP drops" for "will they drop PVP when I kill them".

Quote:You're confusing what they have a right to do with what they would be smart to do. They have a right to delete all our characters tomorrow. It just wouldn't be smart. Much like turning centuries old, corrupt sorcerers into Death Metal Band of the Year 2006.Yes they can. It's their IP; they can do anything they want to it, and for any reason (assuming that NCSoft doesn't mind, and I'm fairly sure that revamping the look of an old NPC group is something the home office doesn't care about). Really, there doesn't even need to be justification for said changes aside fro "We wanted to do it".
