Faster why of downloading Beta.

I remember before the launcher you could create a new folder for downloading the test server and just copy over the live server to speed up the download. Then when you went into the test server it would just download a few files and it cut the download time to next to nothing. Is there a similar process with the new NCSoft launcher? and if so how?

***sorry just saw it... i know.....i meant faster way of downloading beta? . . . . .sorry!!!!

Yes, why is that? Why couldn't we have gotten something that's efficient & doesn't suck, like Steam, oh, wait...

Odd, I got 1.8 gigs downloaded and installed in about 2 hours a few weeks back when I updated Beta with the big patch to it.

I21 is introducing parts of the new incremental downloader, but for the moment the system is still in beta and unfortunately the incremental download feature itself is not yet active and the system is downloading *both* sets of files: the incremental download files and the normal files. So the patch is almost twice as big as it would be normally and we aren't getting the full benefit of the staged incremental download yet.

Once the incremental download feature is fully enabled, the game client will download from scratch in three, or probably four stages. Initially it will download enough to launch the client and stick you into the character creator. It will then continue downloading all the files you'd need for the content you'd most likely encounter first: the tutorial and the low level content. Then it will incrementally download the files necessary for higher level content and then ancillary content in later stages. During this process, the game will be playable while the rest of the files download in the background, provided you don't try to do something that requires resources that haven't downloaded yet.

This is just a beta bridge issue with the patches being far larger than normal and probably duplicating some content while the feature is being refined.

That is because your current beta install, unless you were actually IN the closed beta is missing a variety of files. Like, say, badge art.

Long nap.
My download took over 6 hours. (My DSL sucks.)
I started it before I went to bed.

I got all 6 gigs today in well under 2 hours. If there is a speed problem it is on your end.

They didn't make it, NCSoft did and forced them to use it. But hey, thanks for playing. Kuni, tell him what he's won?

I DLed and installed the beta client last night and it only took about an hour and a half, no copying files or anything like that. So blame for slow downloads... shouldn't be directed at devs.

I already had Beta client installed, and I patch it regularly. When they announced last night that VIP Beta would start today, I patched up. Didn't take long. Nothing to patch today when I got home either.

Now just waiting for them to open the doors.

I've noticed that updaters for the Beta and Test servers do not have the robustness of the updater for the Live servers. When the Beta and Test servers get hit will lots of players up to a certain point, they use up all spare cycles and then each new person pinging it reduces its efficiency.
