So... with side switching... does this mean that villain archetypes will get ancillary power pools? I mean, they cant really have patrons as heros can they? Likewise, does this mean that heros are getting a set of patron powers?

[/ QUOTE ]dont see why, most patron sets have you ticking off your patron anyhow, so really, you have learned from them a way to control a specific source of power, you dont forget calculus if you arent in school anymore(if you keep practicing it) so i dont see the issue. back a while ago, i had even suggested that heroes should be able to tap into the powers by attacking the particular enemy till you learn the source of their power.

Beyond that, for all we know from Positron's pics--it's Pet colorization--not Power customization. My Guess: we can color our effects, but not the effects onto others.

[/ QUOTE ]the fire dom is shown throwing a purple projectile, its powers. the extent is unknown, but the attack was coming out purple.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't be surprised if there's an option to disable other people's customization on your screen if it looks like it'd be a problem. I.E, don't want pink fire on you? Turn off other player customization and it turns normal.

Of course, pure speculation on my part.

[/ QUOTE ]i was speculating this in my mind too. i can see how some people might not want to be engulfed by a avalanche of spectral buffs. I wouldnt mind it, hell, id ask to rainbowed at all times, but i can see the objection.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Well that is more of what i meant, something to increase the character beyond others because you put time or effort into them.
For instance a fresh 50 blaster will be less powerful than a 50 who is al lslotted in the best enhancements.

    Thanks for the quick answers.

[/ QUOTE ]yes, very, a character with a full kit of purple enhances and a well chosen variety of set bonuses will be a good bit stronger than a character with the basic single origin enhances. the so guys wills till be able to do pretty well, but the io'd guy will be stronger, more accurate, more resistant to damage and specific status ailments, may have procs that deal different typed damage in addition tot he base powers and will have additional health, endurance and recovery, among other things.
  5. this is something i ask of most posters who return after a long hiatus, but check back with comments, this game has changed a lot since then, and while going rogue is going to introduce much more change, i always like seeing how people who have been out of the mix like the new stuff. but yeah, io's were big, so is weapons customization, day jobs, vet rewards, WINGS(superficial, but still a big addition), the revamped rikti zone(they look very different now, they unlocked pants technology).

oh and as for your questions, the above guys covered it, so no need to echo. post more questions as they come to you.

Let's see...out of the 80+ characters I have, I think Agent Standin is one of my favorites.

    Agent Standin
    Full name: Stil Standin
    Father: Ben Standin
    Arch Type: Warshade
Theme song: Standing by Jon Bon Jovi
Role: Extra Agent for the SG when the team is a player short.
Also, the Stand-in Tank for the team if the Tank drops. (Go Lobster form!)
Yes, that makes him the Stand-in Agent.

Gotta love a good play on words.

    [/ QUOTE ]outstandin.

did his great grandfather, miles, enjoy his courtship?
  8. I was kind of proud of my plant/thorn dominator, Violet tendencies.
  9. i love ice anything(as the name implies), so yeah, it would be nice. /ice picks up a lot once you get freezing touch and greater ice sword. and the mitigation is not to be sneezed at.

<QR> This thread started out as mostly an offense against basic grammar and spelling rules, but then it rapidly degenerated into being mostly literate, cogent posts. Stop that!

Incidentally, the answer to the OP is 'yes, to varying degrees.'

So I nailed it with the first response?

[/ QUOTE ]yes, but you should have worn protection, get ready for thread child support.

anyone remeber jack emmert and how people disliked him because he made the game into his vision rather then giving players what they wanted?

[/ QUOTE ]silly question, yes we remember jack, he gets brought up on a fairly regular basis. People are not always rational, jack made good decisions and bad ones, just like any game developer, some people nurse their spite about the bad ones and ignore the good ones, their loss, but with that attitude, far from the only one in their lives.

The decisions made in the game are the developers, because its their jobs that are gone if they implement bad features, at times it appears that they have recognized good ideas put forth by the playerbase and implemented them, many other times they realized the poster was out of their skull and completely ignored them and other times the idea is good but just doesnt fit. Every developer has a vision, dont kid yourself, its jsut up to you wether your vision meets theirs or not.

The only problem with this is a TF giver can't be a trainer too; or at least hasn't been so far.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe it's possible to have separate contacts both with the same name (but different IDs) in different zones (for appearances sake) with one being the trainer and the other being the contact. I can't recall this being used in game anywhere, but I vaguely recall a dev saying it was possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Technically, yes... but I'm pretty sure they'd consider it immersion breaking. War Witch is only in two zones because they're different versions of the character.

[/ QUOTE ]maybe, but in that case the humorous legend of blue steel could come into play, that he is so powerful/fast/potent in bed/whatever silly descriptor that he actually appears in two places at once.
  17. well, we did need an illustration of why babs was making a joke. i mean, the fact that there will be an alignment system indicates that there would be more bad things to do to move your bar from blue to red(calling it a bar because most games with this system have a bar, no idea how it will used), and as per usual, we are forgetting the darrin wade/mercedes sheldon arc, from issue 12, the cimorian ghost widow stuff in issue 13, and the redside tf in 15? i think i know why co is not doing the hassle of having a playable villain side. there hasnt been a huge amount of mission content period in the past few issues, one would now surmise its because most of the people who do missions and art assets have been tied up with going rogue.

Yeah, I understand the idea. What I don't agree with is that it warrants in-game rewards for choosing a specific path, that the other path does not get. What does the side-switcher get that the "pureist" does not?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Side switching increases flexibility and options, possibly access to badges and other rewards, and potentially allows for limitless back-and-forth. What reward ought they design for characters that don't switch, that will be equivalent to the flexibility granted by the ability to switch sides?

I see no problem with the "exemplary" idea. In fact, using your logic, I'd say something like that is almost a necessity to keep people who don't want to switch sides from feeling shafted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem I have is with the unique rewards. Outside of specific badges and minor temp powers, there is nothing exclusive, rewards-wise, offered on either side.

As far as access to different content goes (I assume that's what you mean by "flexibility")-- we all have access to all of the content regardless of the character. Just because Dr. Deception has been able to run missions on both sides while Captain Admirable and Miss Malicious haven't, doesn't mean Captain Admirable and Miss Malicious each deserve unique advantages over Dr. Fabulous. Time played is time played, and there is no inherent advantage to having done all of the content on one character or all of it on two different characters that makes the two different characters deserve special rewards that the one doesn't, aside from badges and temp powers.

I agree with your logical conclusion-- if side-switchers get to keep badges and temp-powers from both sides, then it's a great idea to offer special badges and/or temp powers to those who don't ever side-switch. That's not what it sounds like to me, though. "Unique Rewards" sound like something more than mere badges and temp powers.

I suppose I should withhold my judgment until we see what the rewards actually are, but I would rather express my opinion of the concept behind it while it's still in design phase where arguments are more likely to have an effect.

[/ QUOTE ]honestly liquid, my own guess, and thats pretty much all we have to go on, was that being exemplary would give you access to some faction appropriate temp powers, justified as some reward for your loyalty or some such. I would be incredibly surprised if it was anything as drastic as the enhancement slots, as that could have a profound difference in powerlevels of the character, and would be a pretty significant difference between achieveable powerlevels between two characters, it jsut sounds too drastic, badges maybe, but i figured that temp powers, which by high levels are pretty much flavor concept things anyhow, wouldnt cause a significant power difference, and seems to me to be more inline with how the developers have kept the game balanced so far. just my view of it.

Also...*frowns at the ones that are blatantly just "Blue Steel" subbed for "Chuck Norris"*

[/ QUOTE ]given how many chuck norris ones were stolen from bill brasky, its a fair cop.
  21. ok this one really doesnt thrill me, but its not bad. i'll probably get it for the body switching and to support the home team, but i wont bu up with baiter breath and my credit card like i was with magic. but the costumes might pop up on about 2 characters tops, maybe the breathers can work into a powersuit, maybe. hey, now we cant say all the cool stuff is going into the pay sets, can we :P I do have very high hopes for mutant, lets FINALLY get some monster hero support, its only been 6 issues.

    Double XP

ignoring the farming nonsense, we also have patrol exp, while not exactly double exp, if you play a rotating roster of alts, that can push your leveling pretty fast too.

... Bad eyes her newest Object of Hate: the Positron TF.

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit - its the only way to be sure. Of course, this will involve multiple strikes on Steel, Atlas and Skyway as well, but any collateral damage is worth wiping this TF off the map - permanently.

[Yes we did finish.... gawd what an unenjoyable endurance-test. Take away my Unyielding and I become very grumpy indeed....]

[/ QUOTE ]have you done a shard task force? i know posi is bad, most of the launch ones are bad, but have you done a shard tf?

A lot of it comes from the original concept of tf's, they were designed with the pnp gamer in mind, as something for people to do over several nights in a fairly static group, well, things change, pugs and badge groups happened, and the redside and subsequent bleuside tf's start being compact, fun and concise. There are those who like the old tf's, much like some pine for the old hami raid, i personally feel the old tf's and particularly the shard tf's are about as fun as getting my male exclusive bits slammed in a car door, but hey.

NO MOAR S/L DAMAGE WEAPON SETS.

[/ QUOTE ]herein lies the problem, we cannot, thus far, customize the appearence of elemental weapons, unsure if that will be addressed by i16 or not, but as it stands, people really like weapon customization, so its not surprising that this comes up a lot, especially since i can think of several popular comics and manga characters who use a staff of some kind. furthermore, most real life weapons are smashing or lethal, broadly, so you are kind of limited if you are emulating them. most of the elemental sets are fairly broadly defined, so a second ice melee, while cool(no pun intended) would be equally redundant. Its possible, look how many ways they have repackaged energy to us, and water or lava might be conceptual ideas. so unless we get new damage types, or want to go to the pain of having a full toxic set, or a full psionic melee set, you are kind of scraping a conceptual wall.
  25. [ QUOTE ]

And to pre-empt anything about architect, I don't think we should be assuming AE farms are the standard around which we should be balancing lower level content.

[/ QUOTE ]myself my friend and his wife(the only members of our sg and vg's until relatively recently) had full computers on both our hero and villain characters long before ae, none of us play longer than 2-4 hours a setting and we skip several days due to work and real life responsibilities, and we dont farm. you dont need to farm anything if you just play the damn game.
