Quote:It's supposed to do the same in Lam, so. It's an oddity of it works consistently in one and not the other for youCurrently, my only Incarnate is a blaster, so Entanglement doesn't really bother me. Most of the time I'm hover-blasting, but when I do get in there to drop burn and Rain of Fire, I'm in and out, so I barely notice any ill effects of the Entanglement.
As to the temp power statement: It helps that the Power Cells drop automatically into the tray. All the times I've done the Lamda, I've had to keep an eye on my power tab to drop the acid/grenade into my tray, but not so with the Keyes. Makes it as idiot-proof as you can get..
Personally, with KIR, I find it more likely to end up with 10+ temp powers, which does make it difficult even with autoplops.
Anycase, I'm not sure if it's an incident of it's new so people are trying harder, or if it's a case of people having to pay more attention. I can only hope it does lend itself to more folks paying attention to their temp powers [still would like a better system for handling in trial temps mind you, but I'll take folks paying attention].

Quote:I believe it was added so that folks don't see the WST as the only option. And also as an attempt to address the idea of it being possible to obtain solo. Doesn't really do a good job of being obtainable solo though40 Incarnate Shards + Drop of the Well + Incarnate Infused Nictus + Infinite Tesselation + Vanguard DNA Metamatrix
-> Notice of the Well
Why in jeebus name would someone do the above, instead of just running a WST (if the point is to get a Notice)??? It's not as if getting on a WST team is difficult most times (and I play off-peak mostly)....
However, thank you for your clarification. It's much appreciated (not having access to the game is rather painful in these situations!!).

Quote:I wouldn't say that, I will say I am decidedly surprised at people being aware of their temp powers in KIR so far. That's a good thing. Time will tell how the final phase gets treated, but it's kind of interesting so far.Just finished the Keyes Island Trial a while ago myself, and I must applaud the devs for their work on it.
The entire trial was exquisitely done. I had more fun on it than I had on either the BAF or the Lamda before (and I happen to thoroughly enjoy both of them). Even with a league that was completely clueless, the deaths were minimal and everything ran smoothly after we got about halfway through and started figuring things out.
This trial may turn out to be the easiest one to complete once everyone knows what to do.
Personally, with the final phase, I don't think there is much point in worrying about entanglement, unless you're getting hit with disintegrate. -
Quote:Yes. You are.I hate to be argumentative (and I may end up with egg on my face), but I disagree.
This is the section in question;
Incarnate Conversion- Inf costs for Incarnate System conversions have been reduced
- Notice of the Well Conversion now costs 12.5 mil
- 10 Shards -> 10 Threads Conversion now costs 1 mil
- 10 Shards -> 5 Threads Conversion now has no Inf cost
- Incarnate XP Conversion now costs 1 mil
- Incarnate Rare Conversion now costs 25 mil
- Incarnate Very Rare Conversion now costs 100 mil
- shard/Notice -> threads; or
- threads -> ixp; or
- threads -> Rare/Very Rare component
Am I wrong??
Notices->Threads only costs 1 Notice, no influence. Period.
What changed was the cost of 40 Incarnate Shards+Drop of the Well+Incarnate Infused Nictus+Infinite Tesselation+Vanguard DNA Metamatrix->Notice of the Well. The influence cost on that combination was reduced to 12.5million. - Inf costs for Incarnate System conversions have been reduced
-
Quote:The patch notes refer to the cost for upgrading to a Notice of the Well from shard uncommon componentsI'll be checking this out tonight, but the person I quoted was obviously reading from http://www.cityofheroes.com/news/pat...scend_liv.html, which does say it now costs 12.5 million (but also, inaccurately says, "Inf costs for Incarnate System conversions have been reduced ", which is true, except for the 12.5 million stated increase for this).
If this has been missed, and it's still free when I log on tonight, I'll be converting my NoTW on each character that already has T3 or T4 alpha - I'd rather the threads to convert to commons than a Notice I can do little else with.
Thanks for the update.

Quote:There are two effects you're mixing I think.Okay here's my two influence....
1.) You can dodge the Disintegration Ray/Beam. It's a huge green location AoE and there's a pop-up saying, "Disintegration Ray started!" (or something; unless it's changed). Jump/fly/tp away and tada, no one needs to worry about getting healed.
Sure there will be times when you mis-click and use a long animating power and might get hit but...in general now that you know this, just be careful. It's kind of like the Apex (Battle Maiden AV fight)...if you know swords are going to fall down in a few seconds; use small/fast attacks.
2.) Yes healing is "needed". As others have said (only read through 1.5 pages), bring greens, destiny or empaths/pain doms./etc...
I will say that it is (was when I was in beta doing it) hard to see who is getting disintegrated and that was one of the main points brought up in beta. I agree that the person(s) getting disintegrated should be shown in the trial UI somehow.
But even if you die, AM heals from it, but I've seen where he doesn't heal to 100% every time...not sure why not...but maybe it's just a percentage of his HP healed *shrugs*
3.) If you're worried about PUGs, teach them! Tell them what to expect/try to show them. Sure some won't listen but ya never know it might help!
Disintegration and Obliteration. Obliteration is the one with the big visual queue. And not so much the one being discussed. Moving away is still helpful so you don't get pinged as much with incidental damage while under disintegrate. -
Quote:I'm missing it in game right now. The upgrade line doesn't say 12.5mill, using it doesn't take 12.5mill from me. So I dunno.I really must have missed this is in the open beta info - if I had known about it, I would have converted all my Notices last night. Now, I won't - I don't want to contribute that much inf to the great ether that is the Bank of X.
I would REALLY like this change to be reversed, but I doubt that will happen. I will echo this in a more appropriate forum (e.g. suggestions) so that hopefully a red-name will look at it (not saying they'll reverse the change, but at least I won't be whinging and doing nothing about it). -
Quote:Not exactly sure how you speed run BAF to be honest. Normal run are speed runs I guess, while grind runs are the exception [intentionally leaving the AVs up while they beat on you to farm adds].Considering I just ran a BAF (first trial in two and a half weeks) and earned 4% towards Judgment, it definitely depresses me. "Only" 24 more speed runs before I can start working on Lore.
I agree, I'd rather farm solo (and I'm not much of a farmer). At least there would be no 30 minute waits between missions.
I think I should refine my comment about the Greens. Yes it is a bit rough, and folks do tend to die alot during it [currently]. Hosp trips work out nicely in your favor for stocking up greens. But it isn't a good solution really, it's a solution that only alleviates a problem that exists [since if you're dying, there's a problem].
I do agree that there's too much focus on recovering from damage, however, the problem I see is that the other means of avoiding damage are far too absolute which lends itself to this situation. :x -

He gets stuck in the floors usually on the reactors. Given each of the reactors have identical geometry, not really specific to any of the reactor steps.
It sucks. It's annoying, and there needs to be something to auto-fix it. -
Quote:That's a possibility. If it occured, I'd squarely blame Black Pebble for it though. At the very least there should be a short term influx of players testing the waters.At risk of sounding all doOOoOOoomy, what if there isn't a big giant huge massive influx of F2P players? What if we're waiting for barbarians who never show up?
If the VIP server is named Flarstux I'll move a bunch of my guys there. Otherwise, hey - new slots for new tewns! Woo hoo!
That said, don't worry about the Barbarians, they're bringing the ice cream. -
Quote:Or there will be multiple objectives.They'll either force the signature character to act wildly out or character and hold the Idiot Ball or contrive some situation to kneecap them so they need our help.
Otherwise, they wouldn't need our help.
.
Quite, although I would also like some more exploration in the character background of some of the less-delved Signatures. Foreshadow could use some, for instance. -
Quote:fact, i think it was said several times during ustream chats and i think somewhere in that massive discussion thread (pretty sure posi was the one who said it in the thread)Quote:An interesting announcement which leaves me with 2 questions.
1 - On the side by side comparison, VIP players get Going Rogue included. Does this mean that if they as players don't have GR now, then they will now get it without having to purchase it at all?
2 - Futher to the question already asked, with Veteran Rewards being replaced by Paragon Rewards, will the VR badges become PR badges and still be awarded, will they be stopped but allowing players to catch up with the remaining badges, or will they simply cease to continue at a certain point meaning that players who don't have the VR badges and rewards won't be able to get them?
Quote:1) Yes.
2) VR badges will still be around and attainable under PR. We will be discussing the Paragon Rewards Program in more detail in the coming weeks, outlining everything exactly.
I would still appreciate a timestamp for a ustream claim though.

Quote:And due to the cascading nature of AI impact, there's a very big temptation to utilize lower level programming to eek a bit more efficiency out of the beast. Which, will make spaghetti code a lot more of a big pita to deal with.Unless you have coded AI for a MMO then you do not have much actual code experience either. The reason every MMO to date has the type of AI it does is not because better AI isn't feasible but because every component added to AI costs you on the number of enemies and players that can be active at one time. It's possible that some optimization can be found but your conception of AI as "probably nothing more than a few paragraphs of text" is a couple of solar systems wide of the mark. In short, you don't know what you're talking about. AI is one of, if not THE biggest difficulties of programming a large scale MMO. Your proposed simple fixes wouldn't seem so simple when they cripple the game servers.

Quote:Quite, personally, I don't much care either way with regards to Controller/more generic pets. But very much either one can rename them, or none can is a sound idea imo.I can understand why Masterminds get to rename their henchmen pets because that's a special benefit for being a Mastermind. But since -everyone- can potentially have Lore pets then everyone's Lore pets should have access to the same features/benefits. Basically either everyone should be able to rename their Lore pets or no one should be able to. The idea that Masterminds get to rename Lore pets just because they uniquely get to rename their MM henchmen is clearly unfair.
Like IanTheM1 I actually think everyone should be able to rename any pet we want regardless of AT.
But assuming that's not going to happen then at least Lore pets should behave the same way regardless of AT.
With the specific instance of lore pets, I know the pets can be named and it doesn't tend to fail [like I can be reasonable led to believe could happen with the 'generic' pets]. They really should be renamable. Just disappoints me and my naming schema that I had going on.

Quote:It's a short term solution. And one that'll get worse in quick order once f2p hits. If the names are deemed a problem, with f2p, they'll have to come up with a persistent solution instead of an incidental solution.The real problem, I'd say, is that a name purge doesn't necessarily help anyone running into name troubles.
To be honest, I can only really think of one good solution to the name space issue [if it is deemed a problem] with a f2p environment, and that is a major undertaking to change the system. -
Just feel the desire to respond to this claim, even though you didn't make it directly. There are f2p [and other hybrid models] games out there that sell xp boosts that still have promotional xp weekends.

Well, I imagine it's changing with the new Paragon Rewards system.
Quote:So, at least, indirectly, you'll be able to buy your rank up the new reward system, and I imagine get the badges/etc.Paragon Rewards gives you credit for every single month you are a VIP player, not every three. In addition, purchasing Paragon Points for use in the Paragon Market will improve your Paragon Rewards standing. You'll be able to select from all the rewards that you to could find in the Veteran Rewards in the Paragon Rewards program and new rewards exclusive to the Paragon Rewards program, as well! In addition, you can choose which rewards you receive every time you earn a new one.

Quote:I wouldn't worry about it too much. Don't grind the trials if you don't want to. And while different people have different standards as to what a grind is, I'd just typically suggest folks not do more than 1/each trial a day. If you want to plow through multiple BAFs/whatever, go for it, just don't do the trial more than once a play session if you don't enjoy the content that much. Burn out is bad.I foresee a hideous amount of grinding to unlock this stuff, as I want all of the costumes/auras/etc.

And it's a difference of one chest emblem Snow Globe.

Funny list, and I feel bad about bringing it down, but ya just helped me to realize a sad point about the new tutorial experience.
I feel bad about Coyote myself, since I vaguely remember the story of how that character got named. Hopefully he's around in some manner in the new tutorial. -
I'm going to stick with just players.
-
Quote:Yep, pretty much expected it. Such an insidious way to get more impulse buysUm ... wish granted? At least according to today's ustream. Not sure about purchasing it from within the costume creator, but apparently you can add the items to your 'cart' from within the creator at least.

Do we know if the plan is for First Ward to be flashback enabled at launch or hoping for later?

Quote:Also, I suspect that enhancement unslotters are going to have a bit of an impact on supply. And potentially supply [although I imagine that only on the exceptional cost PVPIOs].According to the comparison chart for F2P/Premium/VIP perks, it appears to me that there will be fewer players who can benefit from Purp/PVP IO's and possibly even some of the rare sets will be restricted to just premium/VIP's altogether. Couple this with fewer overall slots per server available (to all but VIP's who look like they don't lose anything), and this means to me an overall reduction in demand for the hotter items.
Less demand (via mechanics) means less price until the supply monkey kicks in. And given we don't know yet what the Paragon Points can be spent against, its possible the supply monkey may quite small.
There's also, from that chart, the mystical "Limited" tag assigned to F2P and Premium players for Auction house use. Not entirely sure what that means....its possible that they won't actually EARN IO drops in missions or perhaps be limited to SO slotting only and therefore have no reason to visit the auction house to buy/sell at all? Or maybe the auction house "constants" will be expanded and thats how they can buy their SO's? Who knows?
I'd say prices are going to fall in the long term, although a short-term spike might happen as people like you try to instigate panic.
