  3. Thank you for the amazing stories and work over the years! I hope life goes well for you and everyone after CoH, If you guys formed a new studio and made an MMO based on anything, I would be first in line to buy it.
  4. This was and is the best game I've ever played...hands down...the community working together to better it was something that I will always cherish, and I hope you all land on your feet.

    It's hard to say goodbye to the only MMO that I ever got into on a deep level, and the community of players and developers that I have come to know through this forum and the game. This was the only game that I have ever spent more than a year playing...and I spent a total of 6 years playing it! I look back at all the money spent, and the smiles and laughs and friendships and I know it was all worth it...

    I too wish it would have lasted another ten years...that would have been awesome!
  5. Why not invite him to read the forums and play the game briefly to get a feel for what this community and game are about? Talking about business opportunity makes sense as well, but if you want to build value in something you have to sell them something they can visualize. Creating a character and running through content in a PuG is something you can build value in, this community is something you can build value in. Make them become attached to your mission and values.

  7. I...really feel for you guys...I was never in such a bad place as you both were. But I have been at points where I really needed an outlet for stress, and to just...mentally unwind...spending hours playing this game and letting the weight of the world off my shoulders by smashing hellions or throwing rocks at trolls who throw them back, was a way to disconnect and allow me to get to a place where the stress was less pent up.

    I...really...can't say that there are words that are...fit...to express the looming and ominous loss of comraderie and friendship I feel...and I...I know it doesn't make sense in a way...I mean it's an online game, but it was so much more than just the gaming experience...and you just don't find that in other games...

    This group of people...maybe because we all liked superheros and doing good deeds...I don't know...but the attitude here is completely different...and that feeling...well...it will just never be the same...sadly.
  8. If you like Tanks, Dark/TW tank or TW/Dark brute would really make you smile...I have so thoroughly enjoyed mine...it's insanity to think this game is going away...so many things to do still, so much content left unfinished...I...it isn't right...

  10. I want to thank all of you for the time I have spent reading posts in here, and tweaking builds and coming together on making better toons. Though I spent alot of time in Scrapperland and other places too, this forum for the past year has mostly been where I went first. The questioning and the debating, and the powerset comparisons, as well as the help I gave and occasionally sought...I will miss you all.
  11. Agility...trust me...+DEF +RECH +END...win! win! WIN! It's my go to on Dark toons, and I have a bunch of them...
  12. Best to solo anything?

    Anything/Dark Armor...seriously...get some KB protection and slot for defense, put a ToE +end proc in Dark Regen and pick a mez aura to go with your damage aura, you will rule.

    My favorites to pair it with? BS/Kat/TW/SS/DM/Staff

    With BS/Kat/Staff you can positional softcap defenses, with TW and SS, you get great damage...TW can actually Softcap S/L/E/N pretty easily while SS can get alot of S/L defense. DM hits like a truck and can softcap S/L/E/N too, plus perma soul drain is a nasty thing to behold if you can swing the recharge.

    GW2 is not getting my money anytime soon...period.

    Who knows...maybe in a galaxy far, far away...

    May try DCU but I am not too keen on the way that looks so far...CO...bleh..

    I might just not play anything MMO until something grabs me again...CoH was so unique...nothing will fill the void I think.

  18. Some of us never did get along so well, and so be it, differences of opinion will vary. I would like to thank those who helped me when I came back to the game, and those who helped me when I first got into it.

    I only hope that my help to any and all of you over the time I have spent here has repaid the debt I owed to so many over the years. Those of you I knew in game, @Maxxxx please PM me to exchange contact information if you would like to keep in contact. I would appreciate keeping up with each of you as time wears on.

    I hope that NCSoft comes to their highly duped senses and realizes that this isn't just another MMO. I would equate this act to the sinking of the Titanic. I always knew CoH would eventually come to an end, but not like this...not a blindsiding act of poor judgement, but a graceful and well deserved exit after many years of great service.

    I am distraught over this sequence of events unfolding, and I really don't know what precisely to say...other than to say that unless these developers are working on an NCSoft game, I won't buy one of their products again. As a consumer, I can vote with my dollars and they will go somewhere else...this will undoubtedly be the beginning of the end for NCSoft in my mind. Alienating hundreds of thousands of gamers in one fell swoop has to be the biggest fool's errand I could possibly imagine.

    Thanks to all the developers who have worked on this over the years. Thanks to everyone else here on the forums and those I knew in game, I have come to respect and appreciate all of you as much as I hope you respect and appreciate me.

    This game was more than just an MMO, or even a group or community, it was a living breathing entity that sucked you in, and kept you coming back.

    Even after life got in the way for a while, I have to say this game drew me back to it, as I knew it would. It was the only game and community that I really could say was my gaming home. No matter what I played over the last 9 years, I always played CoH, if I was playing at all. I know that you will all find your way along after this game has come and gone, and I know that all the developers will bring their passion and talent to new endeavors that will be ground breaking and amazing in their own right. But CoH will always be something special, and nothing can ever take that away, I am just deeply saddened that the gaming world will be a little darker now without this fantastic game, and the people who poured their hearts and souls into making it what it is.

    We as the community were inspired, and the developers as a group inspired us to become a part of their processes and ideas. The 2 groups functioned together so eloquently, that I don't think anything will ever touch this community or the game for being the online entity that it is/was.

    I wish you all the best of luck, sorry that I am not terribly composed at this point, but I had to vent my emotions; and I hope NCSoft realizes the grievous error they made in judgement before it becomes hindsight.

    As hopeling said...any set has access to those...why wouldn't I play a set with more tools...like Dark Armor with insane composite resists, lots of psi mitigation, soft control and a taunt/damage aura, plus Dark Regen; or Regen with 4 different tools to mitigate incoming damage/debuffs plus a stronger taunt aura and inherent status protection....I could go on and on about other sets that have more tools.

    The point I am making is...anything WP can use to regain control when something goes south...any other set can use too. Other sets have tools that WP doesn't have, that doesn't make WP broken, it's just...average...really. Not exceptional...and not terrible...no reactive mitigation, and no *GLARING* holes. It does have holes though, they are just not gaping ones.

    I specified the Tanker version. I wouldn't touch EM on a Brute, the long activation times will hurt fury generation. (as will the weak AoE, indirectly). Brutes will notice the effect of the self damage too.
    TW does better ST damage than SS with Stacked Rage...you'll have to explain how on earth it is you're figuring EM is better at ST DPS...as I simply don't see it. Math is math, and yours isn't adding up.

    Furthermore...I would hotly debate the other sets you are contesting as well...ET is not that impressive compared to things like KOB from SS, or RA or FT from TW, or even MG from DM.

    In addition, I would seriously consider you out of your mind if you said the best EM chain on a tank didn't involve Gloom in some fashion...as the rest of EM to get your ST DPS up close to the other sets would not even be anywhere near on par.
  23. Spiritual or Agility would be my recommendation...Recharge is good for TW...VERY good.

    Plus agility adds +DEF and +END MOD...so you get more endurance and defense to help you survive and keep attacking.
