Something you didnt powerlevel in a quick rush to max it out.
But if you are, go for something completely, ridiculously overpowered. Fire/sd scrapper is what I would go with if I didn't have one already.
If you like Tanks, Dark/TW tank or TW/Dark brute would really make you smile...I have so thoroughly enjoyed mine...it's insanity to think this game is going away...so many things to do still, so much content left unfinished...I...it isn't right...

A storm seems very suitable for apocalypse - and great fun if you haven't done one before.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

I would probably go with a tricked-out, AV-oriented tank. God knows what's going to happen, but it will probably involve unreasonably large blasts that would, for example, slaughter all an MM's pets in one blow.
Kinda like my necros in Diablo II always had a pain in the *** against act bosses.

A Superstrength/FieryMelee brute would be amazing.
If you haven't done SS yet, you might not like it.
The only thing you mentioned that I was extremely surprized with how much fun it was involved the Katana on a Brute. It's so fast it's stupid. You find yourself button mashing as fast as you can trying to keep up.
But seriously, If you're going out, go out with a bang. Get something OP. Something like Mace/Shield scrapper. I've crit for almost 2k multiple times with clobber without any outside buffs. It makes you feel like a champ to 1 or 2 shot bosses... and Crowd Control and Whirling Mace can both hit 10 targets like woah. With Fulcrum Shift, it's sickening. If you don't like redraw, go with Fire. It's alright too
