  1. So with the closing, all long list of planned toons is dust.

I'm thinking of making one last toon to focus on and get fully incarnated. The following was the top of my list of projects I didn't 50 and incarnate out. What will give me the most epic memories to close out CoH?

    SS/INV (brute or tank)
    SS/FM brute
    Kat/Inv Brute
    Storm/Ice Defender
    Plant/Dark controller
    Elec/Earth dominator
    Plant/Earth dominator
    Staff/SR Scrapper
    StJ/Shield Scrapper
    StJ/EA Stalker
    Kin/Psy Defender
    Dark/TW Tanker
Any Mastermind (I know, I know. 8 years and I've never gotten an MM past 10!)
    Widow (stuck to my crab)
    Peacebringer (stuck to my WS)

    - you can use the self heal proc in Defenders Bastion, which plays very nicely with Storm. This doesnt matter nearly so much with Water Blast's self heal though.

I'd go Corrupter with this combo, because better base damage and Scourge outweigh the above.
Only thing I'd toss in is that solo, the buff to defender damage puts their base damage essentially equal. And on a full team, in my opinion anyway, the higher corruptor base damage sort of gets lost in the mix.

That said - scourge is still a (sometimes significant) factor, and can be a significant one. So I'd look at it as scourge vs. the higher defender debuff/buff values, and factor in what powers you'd want access to when exemplar'd.
  3. Hola,

I just grabbed Degenerative interface on my claws scrapper for the first time and equipped it (checked it shows in active powers, etc). I was looking at my combat logs and I have yet to see it proc. I double checked the logs active in my tab, and nothing seems excluded that would relate...

Can someone clue me into how degenerative indicates it has proc'd?

    - what log type is it?
    - is there any (onbious) visual cue?

My other proc'd are incredibly clear in the logs (for ex, Achilles heel -res and perf shifter +end) but I'm just baffled on this one...

    Thanks!
  4. I admit I've been away from CoH a couple of years, but I just don't get why it's even a question something needs to be done.

    Four melee AT's:
    1. Solo
    - Scrapper: High dmg, moderate durability
    - Stalker: High dmg, moderate durability
    - Brute: High dmg, moderate durability
    - Tanker: Mediocre dmg, high durability

    2. Balanced team (good mix of common buffs)
    - Scapper: Amazing dmg, good durability
    - Stalker: ""
    - Brute: Amazing damage, amazing durability
    - Tanker: Moderate dmg, amazing durability

Maybe I'm just simple, but it just seems like something is not right here.

And yes, I realize, caps etc are not getting hit for all teams 1-50. But guys this isn't 2004. Getting to 50 is now a cakewalk and it's clear that endgame content is where more people will be spending more and more time. The only reason this isn't more pronounced, in my opinion, is that modern day CoH has got to be the most alt-friendly game out there.

Edit: Plus, we are starting to see en game content that rather ignores certain durability elements. Disappointing, to say the least. Why does a big tough brick need to run around like a little girl for some of the new cheese? Oh well, a different issue and maybe a subjective thing.

    Hah, nice.

Though I wanted to focus on just one, I've decided to leverage patrol xp and split my time between trying out a street justice tank and a kinetic melee stalker.

    Wow, condescend much?

First, I doubt you can refer to me as "the newer generation" (unless you are over 55, in which case, my regards, gramps).

Secondly, if I wanted to join the assumption and generalization game, I would assume you are part of the newEST generation, and generalize that the college grads I've interviewed recently tend to be more full of themselves and not interested in the opinions of others vs new grads 15 years back.

But that would be unfair as I've a) hired several good new grads and b) I know nothing about you (besides your lack of manners, anyway).

To the rest - thanks for the great discussion. I've been away from CoH a couple of years and only have limited game time. The animation previewer is great but doesn't give as good a feel for the set in actual combat. In the past I've mostly played ranged characters so this has given me some nice thoughts on trying to focus on a melee. Thanks!
  7. Let's say:
    - I don't care about farming, ST damage, survivability (I do, but let's say it is secondary)
    - I care about looking looking/sounding really freaking cool

What melee combination (primary/secondary/archetype) has the best of the following?
    - Animations
    - Sound fx
    - Graphical effects

I want to look awesomely, heroically, badass while getting in my therapeutic beatings. Sell me on a combination that does it!
  8. So I recently returned, love the game again, etc.

I tried stalkers with the great changes made - it's so much more fun than before. But one thing that always kept me away from the AT is never seeing the costumes I spent all that time on...

Have they STILL not provided for a way to turn off/mitigate stealth transparency and let me see my character? :P
  9. /facepalm

Thanks all. It's obvious now that I use my eyes.
  10. Hmm. According to http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Origins_Pack:

    Origins Auras
    Magic:
Runes - Mystic runes fade in and out around the selected body parts.

How do I use this aura? Or is cohtitan wrong?
  11. I am confused. I bought the magic origin pack. I am getting the costume pieces in the tailor (for example: I get "high collar" and the female "magic bolero". But I don't get the auras. I only have the cyborg combat auras.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Tanker Update

Does this mean the damage cap for tankers will be raised?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doubtful. Remember, he said you're not going to equal scrappers in damage. Why would he raise the dmg cap just for one AT?
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Ah - and as for the argument that mission XP "sucks." Yes, you do reap less XP/minute if you simply travel from your contact immediately to your mission door (which tends to be player behavior). However, if you fight some spawns on the way - and finish the mission with the new XP rewards - I think you'll find that missions are much, much more competitive XP wise.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While the majority of what you are saying makes 100% sense, part of this statement seems a bit bogus to me.

What if you are assigned a mission in a zone where everything cons very, very grey to your character? Not much point in stopping to fight. While I agree completely that there's no downside to going on a mission and fighting along the way in some cases, there are many cases where this part of the xp you're factoring into the mission system simply isn't relevant.
