Wondering about Storm/ and /Storm

I'm trying to make up my mind between a Water/Storm Corruptor and a Storm/Water Defender.

Do Defender abilities do more damage as a corruptor or a defender? What I mean is, for abilities like Lightning Storm, do Defenders do more damage because it's their primary or do Corruptors do more damage because they're corruptors?

I'm leaning toward defender, but any help would be appreciated.

Looking up the info on city of data:

The versions of tornado that both sets use are exactly the same. Corruptors use the controller versions of lightning storm and freezing rain, which means 30% resistance debuff from freezing rain instead of the defender's 35%, and slightly less damage on the storm cloud.

The significant advantages of going Defender with Storm:

- you get a better To Hit debuff on Hurricane - Corrupters get 3/4 of what Defenders do
- better values on Arctic Fog
- you get Tornado 9 levels earlier and Lightning Storm 6 levels earlier
- you can use the self heal proc in Defenders Bastion, which plays very nicely with Storm. This doesnt matter nearly so much with Water Blast's self heal though.

I'd go Corrupter with this combo, because better base damage and Scourge outweigh the above.

Fixed for a total nitpick (I know they're interchangeable).

Like the others have said, it's a mish-mash for what percentages get assigned where. It depends on what you want--are you looking for more of a debuffer/team player, or something that acts more like a blaster with debuffs? Personally, I prefer corruptors over defenders just because the damage difference is fairly noticeable to me while playing, and the difference isn't made up in the debuffs. The downside is I sincerely miss having my favorite powers sooner (Hurricane and Freezing Rain).

However, with Whirlpool, it's not as much of a drag up to Freezing Rain. And with the self heal, it smooths out the lower level pain of storm. So, I'd recommend corruptor. I'm leveling one right now (water/storm corr), and it just plays well, period.

Personally, I'll admit to not having tried water, but for Storm, I'd always go Defender first. Getting Freezing Rain ASAP is that big a difference.. Not to mention all the other fun stuff.

But, I will admit to a general Def bias... Unless you're talking Fire/ vs /Fire, I'd lean Def most times. Fire's huge difference in favour of Corr's, means I'd go Corr a lot more often where that powerset is concerned.. And the reverse is true with Sonic Blast. With that one, I'd lean Def even more often.

Corruptor.

[EDIT: Unless you are Sonic Attack. Then maybe Defender.]

If you are asking which does more damage, choose Corruptor and prosper.

Defenders do a lot of things well, and I generally like them more than Corruptors. But damage is not one of those things. You lose a tiny amount of damage from Storm by going Corr, but more than make up for it with higher base damage and Scourge. As a side bonus, Water plays very nicely with Scourge.

Only thing I'd toss in is that solo, the buff to defender damage puts their base damage essentially equal. And on a full team, in my opinion anyway, the higher corruptor base damage sort of gets lost in the mix.

That said - scourge is still a (sometimes significant) factor, and can be a significant one. So I'd look at it as scourge vs. the higher defender debuff/buff values, and factor in what powers you'd want access to when exemplar'd.
