Thanks for all the discussion. The scrapper forum has been, by far, the best sub-forum I have participated in for discussing any game.

Indeed thank all of you for really helping me to appreciate gaming at its best. I've learned so much from the analysis and discussion. I am truly the better for it. Its been an honor and a privilege be a part of it.

Agreed. To all of my fellow Scrappers, including, but not limited too:

Arcana, EG, Werner, Claws, BZB and dozens of others.

This was far and beyond the most constructive and positive board I have ever been a part of. Just really stand-up people all-around, even when we wanted to do nothing more than Slash/Punch/Burn or otherwise commit to violent acts against each other.

Thank you for posting this thread. I was coming here to post it.

I haven't spent a lot of time here lately, for a variety of reasons, but if there was anywhere on the CoH forums that was my "home", it was this AT forum. The Scrapper AT has always been my favorite, the shenanigans that Scrapper players seemed to be particularly prone to resonate with my personality, and I am sure I learned more about this game from the regulars who post here than from any other identifiable sub-section of the game's forums.

Thank you all for being awesome.

This is where I learned to numbers.

Every time I've left City of Heroes, the Scrapper forum is what I've missed the most. I miss playing my Scrappers sometimes; my most recent 50 was a Brute, all my incompletes are other ATs, and I'm kicking myself for that. I'll have to pick a good Scrapper combo to go out on. Thinking between MA/Shield or something/EA.

I've never really put roots into a server. Triumph, a bit.

But the Scrapper forums... I know most of you. I've argued with most of you, and lost my share of those. I can't even imagine not being able to come back here after I map out some other game's ups and downs. Secret World right now, but...

man.

I think there is a good reason that the Scrapper forum has more posts than any other AT, and almost as many as the AT general discussion. Among the many things we're losing, this loss is one of the... loss-iest.

I actually would often read this forum even during the times I wasn't subscribed.

I was on and off CoH for several years but it was the Scrapper Forum that really made me a consistent player in the game for the past 2 years. The forums really made the game fun for me and I have most of you to thank for that. Thanks! See you all in the next big game.

No clue I was doing Rift for a year but i can not commit to Raids which makes it pointless if you are not raiding. I came back here because it matched my new schedule run what you can when you can and you can still be powerful.

As simple as this game was it was also the most complicated because of all the formulas of to hit vs acc vs debuff versus debuff resistance. regen etc.

Coming up with IO builds great stuff

Of all the things I will miss from CoH, the scrapper forums will be the hardest. This is where I came to learn to play CoH. I have fond memories of in depth and sometimes heated discussions here.

This has always been my favorite subforum here. I haven't participated as much recently as I did in years past, but most of the people I know best in this game I met in this forum.

I remember back before issue 1 and after the purple patch, when the talk of the day was that scrappers were terrible. Come a long way since then.

Anyway, I can't even remember everyone. The_Confessor left long ago. EvilGeko and Stupid_Fanboy are still around. I've had arguments with BillZBubba but I think most of my interactions with him were positive. I regret the last exchanges I had with him, if I remember them correctly. Arcanaville's always been good to have around, even though I've had my arguments with her. I remember when she took the time to test Lucks after I kept insisting there was something wrong with them and found out they were not working as advertised. I remember my persistent belief (and not just mine) that dark melee had accuracy issues, and it turned out to be something as simple as "different typed defenses stacked." Which wasn't a problem unique to dark melee, but I think explained the issue well.

I remember campaigning for dark armor to have stacking shields. I remember Super Reflexes being bad, then being good, then being bad, then being good. I actually like it now, although I haven't played my TW/SR brute in months.

I remember "Don't worry regen scrappers." I remember getting to 16 on my spines/regen and finding that just having status protection alone was practically god mode compared to dark armor. And I remember using superspeed to kite so I could buy time to use reconstruction while fighting packs of villains. I also remember getting to level 30 and suddenly being able to survive nearly everything.

I remember the neverending feuds with the blaster forum over who was overpowered and who needed a nerf. Ah, City of Blasters. Those first few months with broken smoke grenade probably did more damage to blaster balance than anything since.

Anyway, for those who are still here - thank you for the guides, the discussions, the arguments, and everything else.

I've never actually self-identified as a Scrapper. My main, Lady Arcana, is actually an Energy/Energy blaster. But this forum has always felt like home on the forums. This is the forum where so much testing was done, so much analysis, so much question and answer. More than any other forum, I think this is where we figured out the game, how it worked, how it didn't work, what we could do in it.

My first Scrapper, Violet Rumble, did the journeyman's work for a lot of my analysis of the game. She tested defense powers for me. She tested the streakbreaker. She tested damage mitigation in general. She performed the tests that led to "Arcanatime" and the luck problem Bella mentions above and helped me arrive at the correct formula for tohit (although I was trumped there by Stargazer).

Personally, I've always thought Controllers matured to the strongest archetype in the game. But there always seemed to be a much more visceral pleasure in destroying enemies playing a Scrapper than a Controller. Controllers always felt more "diffuse" in their destruction. Scrappers were always up close and personal, and in your face destruction. And because of that Scrappers always had a special place in my gaming heart.

I remember my "Take the Arcanaville Super Reflexes Challenge" thread involving SR and the Storm Palace, that eventually led to the creation of the Rikti Crash Site challenge, that became the Storm Palace challenge, and then the RWZ challenge. It was always open to anyone and anything, but in all its incarnations it was always known as just "The Scrapper Challenge." That was always the benchmark for performance: what could a well played well built scrapper do.

But what I remember the most about the Scrapper forums is that moreso than any other forum, Scrappers tended to be neither defensive nor superior about their accomplishments. We did not claim to be better than any other player or archetype because of what we could do, and we joyously took it as a challenge to figure out how to do what others could do rather than covet that performance.

There are always exceptions. But what I will remember most is that in my opinion, Scrappers led the way on a lot of fronts both in gameplay and metagaming, but did so in a fun way and not an obnoxious way.

And that's why this forum was always home.

Even when I played other ATs, I played them like a scrapper.

Scrapping with you guys, in game and in the forums, has been a blast, I'll miss it.

Keep on scrappin'.

I was late coming to the forums and even later to start posting here -- based on previous games (and some of the other sub-forums) I was pretty well convinced that most internet forums were festering pools of stupidity and petty backstabbing (and I'm still not convinced that most aren't! )

Somehow I found myself looking for information for one of my many, many scrappers and landed here in Scrapperland and was just stunned. Lucid, literate, intelligent debate, for the most part. Advanced math, for cryin' out loud! Most of all, there was (and is) a sense of camaraderie and teamwork to figure things out, tempered with the sort of humility that Arcanaville mentioned.

Sure, there was "My scrapper just did <insert Crazy Scrapper TrickĀ™ here>!!" but then, instead of "ain't I great? You may now grovel" it was "So NOW let's all figure out how YOU can do it, too!"

Thanks for all the ideas and wisdom and encouragement -- I'm going to miss my favorite subforum.

Even when I was mostly lurking, this board has been my home for the last 8 and a half years. I've always been a Scrapper at heart and to this day, play my Claws/Regen the most. He was the very first character I made the day I bought the game.

I'll never forget the amazing discussions and fights that have gone down in here. The Scrapper board has always felt like the place to be for the number crunchers and knowledgeable people, people who knew the numbers and/or their attack chains as intimately as one can. I'll always be proud to have made my home here.

You are all awesome.

I've been trying other archetypes lately, but when the lights go out I'll be logged in as my first level 50, a katana/regen scrapper. Thanks to all of you for the many years of advice and math and encouragement and inspiration and just plain fun.
