  1. In Traps all the powers are good except time bomb. People usually pickup everything but time bomb.

    With Traps you can become positional defense cap. So you will find much more use out of Trip mine. Much more then you did with Device since now you will be able to place it down at will.

    As I say in many Trap threads. Traps is Traps is Traps, meaning a Traps build is pretty much the same across the ATs that can use it. So if you do a search in this forum or Corruptors you should find Defense cap Traps builds. IF you don't I can surely tell you do a search for my name in those 2 forums and you will find me posting Defense Cap builds. Then just tweak it as you seem fit to make it your own.

    Nutshell with Traps its more of a melee based set, so your up there with the tanks, brutes and scrappers. Which I guess works out for you being your friend has a scrapper.

    The downfall of the Traps is FFG is slow to move with you so you need to somewhat slowly move into the fight to keep FFG with you or setup and pull the mobs to you. Another Trick that I do is I have Stealth IO slotted in super speed and I zip into the mobs drop a poison trap followed by FFG and then Open up with HOB followed by a Trip mine.

    Overall you can't go wrong with Traps. It's a solid set. It will allow you to farm any mission anyone else is farming just at a slower pace.
  2. They need to fix that hover in air issue. A summon should be a summon and that's it. Especially when your summoning a flying / hovering gun.

    I hope not.

    Seems a bit BS if your paying and now you need to pay for a new power set. It should be you get it if your monthly payer and then its locked out if you decide to go free and then unlocked if you pay the fee to have it unlocked.

  5. Regarding PBU it only last seconds, which you can see in the video as it is related to defenses.

    As for Range and S/L cap, I think its over kill. I think hover blasting with range cap is more then enough. I solo with AR Device on 4/8 setting against many mobs and of course tough mobs like anyone else it becomes an issue and 3/8 works much smoother. Even against mobs that mezz me simply because my opener attacks usually kill off many of the lower minions in the group, if I have to fight one or 2 mobs through a mezz I'm not sweating it as I can still fire off my 2 lower level attacks against them. Further like anyone else my main target is going to be the boss anyways as I let the AOE's kill off the minions.

    As for the build unless I am doing something wrong. Compare this build with yours and notice the differences. All I did was swap out AR for Fire and I didn't even slot several powers or fix the build. End result beyond recharge I have higher numbers with zero purple IOs. So personally I think your going overboard with the purple IOs and need to rethink your build. Your spending BILLIONS for something I am just about doing for maybe 500 million ? Again I could be missing something or something might not be checked off in MIDS. I just worked 17 hours so I'm a bit punchy.

  6. If they made group fly a more selectable power instead of a all in group it would work much better. Many just do not like the whole group fly thing. But solo it is cool.

    Mid_Boss pretty much summed up Bots FF. You can solo 4/8 settings but AVs and GMs will be a stalemate. You won't be able to kill them and they won't be able to kill you. Not the end of the world, but annoying a bit.

    Very much agree. Plus it still keeps your fly hover together and if you want to spend the 2 billion for the PvP IO at least it will get you closer to range defense cap which means you can frankenslot a few powers or at least 1 how you want. But I wouldn't spend that for this build when standard IO set bonuses will offer what you need and you can spend that on another build.

    DP/Dev Advice

    I'm greedy and always look to see how I can make a build to handle max settings. That being said what are you looking to do with the build ? If your just going for 0/0 or 0/1 setting ( BTW how in the world do you go back to 0/0 setting ) then anything is fine.

    But if your going for some higher settings then I have issue with the shortness in range that DP has with many of its AOE attacks. I tested out Hail of Bullets and it works while hovering so I guess you can go range cap and hover blast with the build.

    But the shortness of HOB will bring you close to the mobs which means some of there shorter range attacks will be hitting you as well. Perfect example is fire breath in crey fire farm mobs. Where as if your further away they are limited in attacks and the attack cycle is slower. So mixed in with Range cap and a decent regen you can farm that mish with hover blasters.

    Traps it is just too much a stationary build to offer you any assistance for PvP.

    As far as build advice. Traps is Traps is Traps.

    Traps is the same build regardless of AT minus a few changes. So go down a few threads and look at the build in the DP Traps thread. Copy it out and swap out your powers to compare the numbers. You can also do a search for Traps in any forum that can use traps and find many defense cap threads related to Traps. Again swap in your powers with the proper IOs to obtain defense cap.

    Over all you will see that many of the builds and IOs are pretty much the same all over.
  10. Two shot question

    Just wondering if you can increase the recharge of the Lore pet Incarnate power or is it a fixed time regardless of recharge ?

    And is the Epic pet recharge time fixed as well or can the recharge be decreased as well ?

    By recharge I mean the summoning time and not the recharge of the pets attacks or powers.

    Just trying to mess around with a pet build which is not mastermind but would want them as perma as possible.

  12. The stealth IO from Leaping and flying will offer very little benefit when compared to Stealth IO and super speed.

    You will be spotted when you fly or jump into mobs with stealth on. Where as with Super Speed and Stealth IO you will be much more stealthy. Only High perception mobs will spot you.

    Not sure how the game mechanics works with it. I am guessing they have some sort of minor stealth component in super speed that combines with the stealth IO really kicking up the ability. I pretty much use a jet pack or have hover on with super speed when I need some control in caves or tight areas but want to stay stealthy.

    I say post your build as it is currently and post a build your looking to get into at level 50.

    What setting are you running missions on ?

    Who knows how your slotted. It could be you or it might not be, but personally I would need to look at the numbers to see.

    Over time I have come to discover and accept you cannot build a toon around a concept but you can build a concept around a toon.

    But if your just making a build and want to play to live then I can tell you your doing it wrong or something is not right with your build.

    If I can solo 4/8 settings on my AR Device and Archer EM then you should be able to handle a 0/0 setting.

    But again I think we need to see a build to make and ask some questions regarding play style to make an educated decision.

    Some blind comments

    Do you have defenses ? Do you know what soft defense cap is ?

    Having an Archer / EM I can tell you that you can have aid self in the build and still obtain range defense cap.

    Again current build and future build if you thought that out and lets take it from there.
  14. A few things, not in any particular order.

    Your putting a stealth IO in hover. It really will not offer you any help. Super speed with a Stealth IO will offer you full stealth benefit vs mobs. So you can zip around a mission without being noticed unless you run by high perception mobs. EG Snipers and Rikti drones. So I would swap out fly and pick up super speed and just keep hover.

    Your using stealth to obtain your defense cap number but you forgot that it is suppressed so your only getting 2.5% and not 5%.

    One thing I learned from messing around with my AR Device Blaster is you need some decent regeneration in an attempt to get back some hit points lost between the hits that sneak in. So I 6 slot Numina in my health. It offers a health bonus regeneration bonus, a recovery boost as well and on top it offers range defense bonus.

    The next thing you want to go for is recharge to get Oil Slick up as much as possible. There is only so much recharge your going to be able to get without dipping into your defense bonus sets. So you will need incarnates to help you out.

    This is what I am building atm. Should be finished tonight to test out. When I work builds up I try build for highest possible setting. I know with my Range Capped Blaster builds which are similarly slotted for recovery and regeneration I can handle 4/8 settings. This should have incarnates on so you can see Oil Slick is down to 48 second recharge.

    Just make sure you turn off Incarnates to get some real numbers otherwise your recovery will be off the charts.

    Best bet would be to pull them up side by side and compare take what you like and scrap the rest.

  16. Long while back someone had their art stolen from some show and I was aware of google doing something images. Basically scanning an image and trying to find the image on the web. At the time it was iffy or experimental and in a nutshell they weren't going to use it to help find this persons art.

    Anyways it seems that the Iphone has a google app in which you can take a picture of something and then send it and it appears the app will try to find this item on the internet. It works decently sometimes coming back with results in several seconds or a minute and sometimes it just keeps going and going with no results or some sort of time out error.

    Anyways I figured I would put it out here and let anyone know who might be interested this way if something horrendous happens to you at least if you have a copy of the work or a picture you can use this app to search google images in an attempt to find your missing work. It's pretty much google app so I would imagine they have it on android as well.
  17. Many games do this for costumes, CoX does this now of course. But I would like if they allowed for a micro transaction for a power change.

    Simple example I always use. Grenade instead of Trip Mine from Device / Traps set. Maybe less damage but quicker recharge. I'm not going to debate the balance issues, I'm assuming they are balanced for this posting.

    Or for Time bomb the ability to click on it to make it go off when you want instead of hoping you get enough mobs on it or requiring the ability to stealth bomb.

    Again nothing new here many have requested these changes. So instead of trying to change the " Cottage rule " persay. Just create a 2nd power you can choose at the appropriate level for a fee.

    I would say 5 US dollars per power and maybe 20 US dollars for several changes in a set. Or even the ability to buy power changes across different sets and have the system count up the changes and just offer a 6 power changes for 20 dollars. So I can take 2 for Device / Traps, 2 for Ice and 2 for Energy Blast lets say.

    Again I am assuming that these changes would be balanced and fair. This way we have no complaints that a person with extra money gets some sort of unfair advantage that a standard subscriber cannot have or a F2P person does not have.

    I can think of bunch of powers I would like alternate effects for and would pay 100 bucks easily to have.

    Nutshell
    Traps = Soft Positional Defense Cap
    Defense Cap+Provoke= Tankermind build
    Tankermind build allows for 4/8 setting soloing.

    But you will eventually need IOs to accomplish this successfully.

    Build wise this forum is full of tankermind builds even going back a few pages will pull up builds. But do a search for traps in this forum and you will find what you need.

    Trap is Traps is Traps. Meaning you can port that Traps build over to any Arch Type that can use traps and with minor tweaking have a defense cap toon in that arch type as well.

    Here is the difference with Tankerminds though. One school of thought is you use the Protector bot pet to bubble you to obtain defense cap. And another which is get defense cap without the need of the pets, so with the pet bubble you will be at 50% defense wise. Personally I come from the defense cap without pets camp, but to each their own.

    AOE wise it goes 2 ways.
    Solo it does not matter because all mobs come back to you eventually. So worrying or having some sort of issue of KB really isn't an issue unless your so uptight and everything has to be perfect.

    Team wise stuff dies so fast now that it really does not matter. Pretty much everyone is using some judgement attack as an opener. Again I think yet another moot point.

    They can't replace it due to "cottage rule" persay. But it would be nice if they had another power you could pick instead of it. I hope when they go F2P they will have some sort of micro transaction that will allow this. Though it would be nice if they did it for free, but I would pay for the chance to have alternate powers for some sets.

    Pretty much no one takes time bomb because of the recharge time. On top if you try to place it and you get interrupted it's wasted. So you loose the endurance and don't get it placed. Which is double insult..

    I would be willing to pay in the line of a micro transaction for the ability to buy alternate powers for certain powers within a set. Again using Trip mine hand grenade concept. I would pay money to buy a small set of alt powers just flesh out my toon a bit differently from other AR Device toons. Again I'm not looking for an advantage just a different power. I would take less damage for quicker recharge or whatever they figure the math would be.

    Further I am not saying every power in a set. I think it would be great if they just picked one power from each set. I'm pretty sure they compiled enough data between AT used and powers picked from ATs which powers are weak or used for mules or not picked at all from a set. Add in player complaints or at least the valid ones and I think you would have a decent number of powers, again at least one from each set that you could provide an alternate power for.
  24. Dev should create double sets for each AT. Between the players and the Devs there must be enough input that the Devs can agree on some ideas. This way the "Cottage Rule" remains in play and it give more choices for newer and older players from power sets.

    Example some have asked for Trip mine to be a grenade. Have another power that the player can pick which is an alternate to Trip mine which would be grenade effect. This option would quell much of the complaints as it would make players feel that the Devs came across with something. Granted it is obvious that some will say I didn't want "THIS" I wanted "THIS".

    I could imagine that this would allow players to expand their builds and allow for a bit more uniqueness even among the same power sets.

    But either way I believe we will see some interesting things once F2P comes around with a bunch of micro transactions being available.
  25. I don't know, being fully positional defense soft capped and being able to solo 4/8 setting is really nothing to complain about. Assuming your using IOs.

    The duration for Poison trap is 30 seconds add in lockdown proc and you will see the proc take effect long after you thought poison traps no longer was in effect. Real cool stuff.

    Traps is very much an in your face type of set. So being in the background is not as beneficial as being in the front near the melee types.

    Poison Trap has a quick recharge so you literally can use the trap in conjunction with Trip mine and HOB combo or vice versa.

    I'm not that sharp to do the math but I would say that the debuffs offered from traps probably just about evens out what your loosing in DPS for trying to obtain the defenses. Meaning over the long run between being able to do higher settings then normal even at 3/8 and dying less. Your benefits will outweigh the guy who is doing more DPS but not such higher settings or limited in mob types based on the damage he decided to cap for, EG S/L and Energy / Range.

    Many go recharge forgoing many of the defenses but once your set in IOs if you start looking at the set the longest recharge is going to be Triage Beacon. With my Traps builds I have double Triage Beacon out for 20 seconds and everything else is a constant double. Some go for Tripe but you need to forgo some defenses trying to do something like that. I think triple is overkill personally.
