Given the HUGE and OUTRAGEOUS fees you charge for every little thing, I DEMAND that you... oh, wait, I was thinking of the dentist, not you guys. Never mind.
I don't see much benefit to the change, but if you do then go ahead. I'll adapt. I mean, I might have to change my name to Blue Rabbit, but somehow I'll adapt. -
I think it's sad (though probably inevitable, given the way so many people behave on these forums) that Zwill has given up hope of not ticking people off. As a result, some feedback is just being ignored. (Read, perhaps understood, but not acted on). It reminds me of old Psych 101 classes about learned helplessness. After a while, the poor rat just stands there getting shocked and doesn't bother to move out of the way. What's the point? Nothing he does will ever stop the pain.
Personally, I don't care how many different methods you use to communicate with people. I'm only going to use the communication channels that I like. Even after reading all these posts, I don't really understand why I have to miss out on some things because I only read all of your announcements on some websites and not others.
In general, I have always objected to the word "exclusive" when there is no time-limit attached. Go ahead and let people have something special for a few months or a year, but then give it to everyone or put it in the store. I don't understand why that opinion seems like a surprise to Paragon Studios over and over and over and over. -
You know what would be a great VIP perk? Getting these codes automatically. Does it really matter to you if I subscribe to your twitter feed? I don't understand how that benefits you. As a VIP, I'm already giving you money. You're not selling things through Twitter. You're not being paid per follower, are you? I understand that you'll advertise there, and you want people to see the ads, but the main thing you're selling is subscriptions, and I already have one! And as a subscriber, you have no trouble getting word of new store items to me by other means.

Quote:The Kheldian never stepped out of lobster form? With that team composition, he should have been a squid. That would have helped a lot with your damage output. That's one of the few things I like about Kheldians: they can sort of change from one archetype to another depending on what the team needs, sort of. I wonder what he was thinking. I've heard of human-only Kheldian builds, but I don't think I've ever seen a dwarf-only.Team composition was pretty offbeat- we had two tanks (ice & dark), the peacebringer who looks like a giant beetle, an electric controller, a spines scrapper, a fire corrupter and my mind/kin.
Between the two controllers pretty much ever spawn started the fight out of endurance and thoroughly confused- we could have used more damage, but what we lacked in speed we made up for in comfort and safety. =P
PS I love reading about your son's reactions to the game. -
In general I agree with the OP. The game keeps getting better. I think the overall difficulty level is gradually climbing, but I don't see that as a problem since overall character strength seems to be keeping up. It might make the game a little less friendly to brand new players, but I'm not in a good position to judge that.
The game has also grown much more complex over the years. Honestly, I can't even keep up any more. I find that I can safely ignore most of the complexity most of the time, but I still don't like it. It feels oppressive. -
Quote:But sometimes you can make them feel faster by padding the actual hit with fancy twirly fun stuff. Maybe if the devs see that movie, they'll be motivated to create a set of alternate animations for Axe... but probably not. They could create an entire new powerset for the same animation labor. I doubt if another melee set is high on their list right now, but if they ever make a new melee set (tonfa anyone?) maybe they could somehow leverage that to provide some alternate axe animations. The problem is, you can't exactly make powersets "faster" because that ruins the balancing/performance of the set. And the devs already said they would rather make new powersets than animations for older ones. (unfortunately)
I think the best you're going to get is axes for dual blades. Let's just hope whatever the new costume bundle is includes axes. -
Missed it. Darn. Oh well. It was just a matter of time. I won't be around next week either, so... Devs: please make next week's freebie something lame.
-
If it were easy for me to log in tonight, I would have. And it will be impossible for me to log in tomorrow. So I'm wondering if I should make the extra effort to log in tonight. But a princess hat seems pretty irresistible.. :P
EDIT: Oh! It really was a princess hat! For some reason I my sarcasm detector gave a false positive. I was expecting another consumable. -
How about today? Was there another freebie, or did the new issue interfere?

Someday I would love to see 8 people hit shield charge all at the same time. And I was just thinking of rolling up a stalker. I've never played a dominator past level 10. I haven't played with the new darkness sets yet. Fire is one of the few powersets which is available as a primary and secondary for every archetype (I think that's true), so an all fire/fire team could allow every AT, while still stacking lots of things, especially DOTs. Or, if you go with corruptors, I'll stick with Chronosian until he hits 50. In other words, I like all of the ideas presented so far!
Sadly, I probably shouldn't get a vote, since I doubt if I'll be playing much more often in the future than I have in the recent past. Final exams, surgery (my son, not me), out of town guests... the string of excuses is long and boring, and summer isn't looking much better. Still, I love all the ideas and I'd like to jump in when I can with whatever you all come up with. -
Quote:I understand, and I approve of the policy of treating employees like human beings. And I always appreciation alliteration, also. But I just got an email telling me about Freebie Friday, and there was nothing in that email to even hint at the fact that I would be too late if I logged in after work on Friday.1.) Sorry Tony, but we already ask a lot out of our business and development teams. They work long hours during the week, wake up early to push Market updates and stay late to make sure everything is good to go. Right now we're not considering asking someone to basically schedule their weekends around updating something at 4 PM each Saturday.
I'm ok with getting the freebie on Thursday, I really am. I'm just sorry that you're going to get so much negative feedback for something that could have been avoided so easily. All of those people who don't read the forums, who only know about the freebie because of the email, they're going to think that it will be available all day Friday. And, depending on their time zone, they may very well be wrong. And they'll blame you. -
I agree that A_F often has a good point hidden somewhere in his posts, but they're easy to miss for two reasons. First, the nasty personal attacks tend to rapidly derail every thread into ugliness. NetherGoat takes some jabs at people, but with more wit and less vindictiveness. A_F seems to delight in the personal attacks both given and received, which is pretty much textbook troll.
Second, even when his mechanics are right, he often ascribes motives and attitudes to other people which are not accurate, especially not in the extreme black and white terms that he uses. Or at the very least not provable.
Personally, I think the market has a lot of gray areas, a lot of randomness, a lot of excess inf sloshing around and falling into people's pockets, but not very much evilness and not quite as much cleverness as a lot of other people suppose. -
There was a time when the prestige slide was sold as a separate item pack. If they've done it before, I don't see why they can't do it again. I think part of the discussion the last time I remember this coming up was something about whether physical items were included or just the digital goodies.

Quote:The first character I ever tried and failed to make was a skeleton in armor. The skull head with a normal neck just isn't the same, and all the other body parts are too thick to be bony.My big want is non-normal thickness body parts.
skeleton body parts - only bone thick
wooden body parts that are stick like
missing bodyparts - gloves that do not connect at the wrist, or a head floating above the shoulders with no neck
we have some robot parts that are thin - skeletal robotic arms, and a peg leg
I want to be able to make a skeleton, a stickman scarecrow/puppet, and a ghost which is a hooded robe with gloves and boots but no arms or legs
The biggest, simplest thing I'd like to see added is scars. Right now a topless male can have a muscular chest, a smooth chest, or a tattooed chest, but how about adding some scars as an option? We have a scarred face, but not chest or arms. I'm imagining something like Rambo in the first movie, although I can't find a picture. -
If I had to guess (standard code rant and all) I would say that cross-server teaming is totally different from server transfers from the devs' point of view because of server load balancing. Moving a character to a new server changes the load on both servers. Cross server teaming doesn't do anything to server load, because all mission instances are already on separate mission servers. I would further guess that this is a Big Deal to the devs. The fact that it also bypasses the need to worry about name reservations and super group membership is just icing on the cake. But, of course, I'm not a dev.

I vote for 1. Both characters look better there to me.
In #2, it looks like they're running away from the forums. Also, I don't feel a need to have a dynamic image while I'm sitting still reading forums.
I assume they'll be stationary? Didn't we used to have an image of Positron bobbing up and down all the time? That was annoying. Actually, now that I think about it, I may have been so annoyed that I blocked that image. I can't remember now, but I don't see anything at the top of the forums. -
Quote:Nothing. There is no waypoint or anything to indicate where to go. I tried hitting the Ferry and the Black Helicopter to see if it would show up like a train mission, but there was nothing.Unless something is really bugged, you don't actually have to go to IP, you have to go to an instance of IP that's like the mayhem map. I just can't remember off hand how you get there, whether it's by sub or board transit or something. What do you get under the compass when you select the mission under the mission menu?
I filed a petition, and they auto-completed the mission for me. That is a solution, but I could have done that myself. I'm a little disappointed that I don't get to do the mission. It sounded interesting, with built-in choices that affect things that happen later.
Before I filed the petition, I tried to use the mission teleporter. This error showed up in my combat log:
"You have a mission, but it has an invalid door_id. Make sure that the city zone containing your door is running on a live mapserver!"
I've never seen that before. And yes, the exclamation point was included in the original. -
Ok, now I'm stuck in Leonard's mission. He's telling me to go to Independence Port. I'm a villain. How do I get to IP? Submariner Janus won't take me. The helicopter won't take me. I'm not getting a way-point.
The arc is Good Villains Never Die (20-29).
The mission is Get the PPD files in Independence Port! -
Huh. Seems like different people have different opinions.

The character I always come back to is my katana/regen scrapper. He's the one I bust out whenever new content shows up. He was more fun back when regen was a fire-and-forget set instead of a clicky set, but he's still my main. I was a little behind the curve on regen as god mode, so I don't think he was ever uber. He has always been good enough for me though.

This didn't work out at all the way I expected. As soon as I heard about the converters, I bought a whole bunch of Glad Armor End/Rech pvp IOs for under 10 million inf each. I had visions of selling them for 2 billion each the day converters went live. Didn't work out like that. I converted reward merits into hero merits and didn't get any converters until today.
Now I'm sitting here comparing prices, and I'm not sure it even makes sense to use converters at all. At three converters a pop, it would be, what 15 converters on average to get the 3% Def IO? (If I did the math wrong, it's because I have lots of germs and no sleep). And then I can sell it for a whopping 300 million inf. That's about 20 million inf per converter.
But if I just use 3 converters and turn it into whatever random Glad Armor I get, it will be worth about 200 million, no matter what it turns into. That's more like 65 million inf per converter.
Or I could just sell the end/rech IOs I've been sitting on. I bought them for under 10 million each. Now they're worth 150 million each. That's... division by zero error million inf per converter!
So I'm not going to make anything close to the billions I had envisioned, but I am going to make a big profit. And I don't actually need to use any converters to do it! -
Buy more Luck Charms, of course! Normally I try to keep outstanding bids on that character for low to medium amounts, and have items for sale from high to insanely high prices. Once in a while I check in to see how high and how low the prices have gone. Last time apparently I didn't bother to relist the high priced things, but the time before that I remember selling a Luck Charm that was listed for a million inf, so apparently it was the cheapest one on the market at that time.

Quote:Hey! Spoiler alert!!!1!1!!Back in the saddle!
I set his Easter Basket out for discovery, made a cup of coffee & fired up CoH.
There was a time when you could use the /ah command inside a mission. They said they disabled it because of performance issues, but I can see how buying inspirations mid-mission could be an issue too. I still miss it though.
