Talking about spanking here will get you banned.

What're they going to do, stop the IOs from dropping in arena matches? Yeah, that's a great way to fix it.
EDIT: And if you think the 100+ million a lot of these IOs cost now is bad, wait until they do something like that. Let's use purples as an example. From I11 to I13 they were reasonably priced, if not a bit expensive. I14 came and the farmers moved to MA missions. No purples drop in those missions. No salvage drops in those missions. The price of purples and common salvage skyrocketed. Don't think this is a coincidence. -
Yeah, okay. Keep telling yourself that.
I13 was much, much worse. Jussayin'. -
Oh yeah, Earth's AoE immob cancels the KB from Earthquake too. Doesn't Plant's AoE immob cancel KB from Carrion Creepers as well?
-
Every Dominator comes out ahead in these changes except /Psi Doms (as much as I'm sad to see PSW nerfed, you were probably just an idiot if you thought it wasn't going to be changed) and those with a lot of recharge who had Domination double-stacked often.

It's also funny how he know his exact kill:death ratio. Who actually keeps exact track of their kills and deaths in a PvP zone?
Something tells me he probably takes a screenshot of each kill too....to enter it into his CoH PvP diary.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was in there yesterday for probably six hours, always on a team of 4 or 5. I picked up 50 rep, which basically translates to somewhere upwards of 200 kills (factoring in bounties and all that crap). Yes, I know I didn't get all those kills, but even as a mostly-support Therm, I was getting my share while keeping my teammates alive. Meanwhile I probably died four or five times, once while I was about to head out for the night and got heavy held.
I'm not saying "WOW LOOK AT ME I'M SO AWESOME" but to brag about a 23:7 kill ratio on a flying sniping Blaster, where half the kills were likely kill-steals or against a fiteklubber, doesn't really mean [censored]. -
Stone has Rock Armor - not as good as it was in I13 but still not bad. It's also got Earth's Embrace, which you can easily use as an "oh [censored]" heal or to cap your HP, and Seismic Smash, which is an eight second base hold in PvP.

way wrong on the psi again.
elec, in zones, outperforms psi by a huge margin. psi only starts to compete against elec in sustained fights in the arena.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where are they getting all this psi resist? I know some sets have it, but a lot more have energy resists. Sonic has no psi resist, and neither does Thermal, and those are by far the most common resist buff sets. The only reason Elec outperforms Psi on Live is because Elec has huge burst damage while Psi has fast firing weak attacks. After the changes Psi will have far better burst damage than now, so as long as the target isn't Dark Armor or standing in a Shadow Fall or something I suspect Psi will do fine.
(Again, I'm talking in zones against soloists (except Dark Armor obviously) and non-optimized teams. A well balanced team will have defenses against all damage types, but if you are talking about organized team vs team PvP it's all about the buffs and debuffs anyway... the right mix of powers turns a tank into a squishy or a squishy into a tank.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Have you PvP'd at all since I13? Damage type doesn't mean a damn thing anymore. Squishies get a free 40% resistance to all types of damage just for entering a PvP environment, and their APP/PPP armors now have defense or resistance (depending on which armor they have) to everything. All that matters now is how much damage you can output, not what kind. Organized team PvP is no longer about the buffs and debuffs (free base resists and and diminishing returns have ensured that) but rather about 1) how quickly you can spam a target with damage until heals are no longer effective (if DR is on), or 2) how well you can time two AS's after the squishy has been KB'd (if DR is off). -
Wonder who named the little "PvP" icon next to the individual recipes "Day Job: Griefer."
-
I just find it funny that despite all his acting like he's so awesome and rules RV all the time, I've never actually seen him and I spend a few hours a day in RV.
-
Diminishing returns on or off will cause the actual resistance values you get to change (you always get the base 40% but the DR curve changes that to much less). As far as base resistances:
Tanks and MMs get nothing
Brutes/Scrappers/Stalkers get 10%
Khelds and VEATs get 15% (?)
Everything else gets 40% -
They aren't going to discount you from closed betas if you bug something that's already been bugged. More bug reports on the same bug allow them to collect more data points and probably make that bug easier to fix. Of course, if you're just spamming bug reports on things like "Hasten's graphics are ugly," then you probably won't be looked at kindly.
-
I'd go with the Peacebringer or Fire/MM Blaster unless your team is running a Stalker or two in which case I'd go with the FF/Energy to set up KB/AS spikes.

I have this slotted on my level 50 blaster. He's getting 65hp a tic in PvE.
Here's something unusual I did notice though. I had my combat tab open and was watching to get a sense how often the hp+ was firing off, and it seems to only fire off when *NOT* in combat. Not what I was looking for but an interesting discovery. This was over several TF's and AE missions in PvE.
Meanwhile, the end+ piece fires off regularly, combat or no.
Any one else noticed this? Is the hp+ supposed to work this way or do we have any info detailing it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Strange, I hadn't heard of this.. brb testing on test since I'm way too cheap to slot this thing myself on live.
EDIT: Stood in the middle of some possessed scientists and let them beat on me and it still triggered. Seems to be just you.
Also; holy crap I undervalued this baby.. I didn't realize it granted end in PvE as well!
[/ QUOTE ]
I was running through the Barracuda SF on the day I15 went to test and we had a /Traps MM (hai Karl!) with the proc in his Triage Beacon. I noticed funny text in my combat logs and was like "o.O it's healing me!" -

Why does Blizzard disappear if the caster gets defeated while it's raining down?
This is so not fair!
[/ QUOTE ]
All pets work that way. Hell, if you die while any attack is animating, the damage doesn't reach the target. Also, not dying while you're using Blizzard is also a good start in avoiding this problem. -

Ha!
My blaster got a kill ratio of 23:7 last night. If someone phase or iced up...I moved on to the next guy. Almost had that brute too, we were both 1 attack away from defeat, and he got his in first.
Strategy/Lack of strategy...who cares...I just happen to play an nrg/nrg blaster with fly/hover/AS, fitness, and hasten...and that's it...no APP and no armor, muhahahaha and I PWN villains. Sure I get killed a lot too, but then, I don't play to 'not to lose' I play to put targets down until I die.
That's why I get killed a lot.
But I also have emptied the entire bus station and left bits and pieces of villains covering the walls.
I have also wiped out the entire villain camp outside the hero base too...MMs and all. I find MMs very easy to defeat on my blaster. And the Aim+BU+Nova 'death from above' drop is a lot of fun.

You're bad.
I don't recall seeing you in RV yesterday and I was there for about six hours last night on my Corruptor. -
Fire/Kin/Stone can be a PITA in duels (can you say "lol where's my endurance?") but they're kinda lol in zones.

Different version of the build
[/ QUOTE ]
no acro and yet not a permadom build? might be risky especially since you dont have any mez resist uniques helping.
also, i would consider a membrane in QS if it boosts the debuff and recharge but i cant test the theory atm and my highest earth/ was late 30s.
earth/nrg/lev looks like a fun concept on paper, gl with it mac.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah it's very much a work in progress. Slotting a Microfilament into Quicksand would increase the debuff as well as reduce the recharge but I'm not sure how much it's worth slotting for slow since slows are kinda gutted. I figured I wasn't gonna bother with permadom on that build since with DR in zones (or DR on arena, which will IMO be best when combined with the "no heal decay" option in I15) you need some crazy high global recharge just to barely maintain permadom and I'm not sure that's worth it anymore especially with the damage increase going to the AT modifiers.
Once they add an option to disable base resists I might try again for a permadom build but as of right now I am not really seeing the point. -
I downloaded a fresh copy of the Mac version of test today and it worked fine for me on the first try. Wish I could say the same about the Windows version.
-
You'll have to bypass the updater (it's the only thing that finally worked for me). In the CoH test directory, create a shortcut to the CityOfHeroes.exe file (not the CohUpdater.exe file), and add "-project cohtest" to the end of the target line (don't include those double quotes, of course).

Speaking of sucking at PvP, did anyone else notice a certain Inv/SS Tanker in Freedom RV tonight running his mouth about how all the villains were bad because they had Hide and Phase?
