I got my start scavenging vendor trash for pennies! I recommend it all the time to people in need of some quick Inf for DO's.
-
Perhaps it's arrogant of me, but I think Tips and Tricks from a newby would be a good fit for this guide to guides.
-
@Fulmens: I think your theory is the more likely of the two, just given general knowledge of the way the "average player" seems to buy and sell in this game.
@AllYourBase: Glad you enjoy the thread. Feel free to add your own hints and self-reminders, and I'll add them to the OP. -
I doubt they will. People are figuring out they can make big bucks by spending 2 HVMs on high-cost Uniques, and use that money to buy Purps.
-
Quote:Oh, don't feel bad there. I didn't make a billion from nothing in a week. It took me 14 days to make my first billion. In my first week I think I only had about 200M in cash money, and I spent a fair bit of my free time doing nothing but reading the marketing advice threads and browsing the consignment house to learn the lay of the land. I probably sunk 30 hours into just the market that week, not accomplishing much of anything else in the game.True, but compared to starting from nothing and getting to 1 billion in 7 days... going from 100->150 is really rather peasant...
So, it's been a bit more than two weeks since I posted my last marketing update. In the intervening time, I haven't done any marketing at all. I simply have no drive to make money when I have so little to spend it on. I'm getting an expensive defense-capped build set up for my Scrapper, and once I start putting up bids for those recipes I'll likely want to start making money again.
I've turned 700M Inf into Prestige for a couple RP supergroups. I've purchased some expensive items (LotG Recharge, Numinas, Miracle, and Regenerative Flesh uniques) for my scrapper and defender. Generally enjoying the feeling that I can go out and buy anything I need RIGHT NAO without any care for price.
My Scrapper is 28, my Defender is 21, and I made a Demons / Dark Mastermind for grinsies who is now 10. I've also caught the FFXIV bug, and messed with the open beta. The game needs a LOT of work, but most MMOs do at launch. I think it has the potential to be amazing in 6 months.
Current Inf is 2.21B. -
In my humble opinion, you should never roll an A-Merit. Spend them directly on the high-Inf uniques instead for best bang for the buck. LotG, Stealth proccs, Miracle, Regenerative Flesh, -KB, etc etc. I'm not sure which of these are expansive at what levels, but I'm sure you can find something with a bit of looking.
-
... I can buy 400K prestige for the RP Supergroup I joined that night to set up a decent base, without hurting myself in any other area.
... I can make Mondo spaz about wasting money on level 25 frankenslotting.
... I can spend millions per enhancement at level 22 without actually spending any sort of significant Inf.
... my highest level character is 27, and I'm richer than most 50s I talk to. -
You know, I made the immediate assumption that they'd be handing out at least one freespec per character when I heard about the Stamina change. I mean, they have at every other turn where they've made a large change to the system, and the give one out practically every issue anyway. It seems crazy illogical that people are stocking up on respecipes.
-
After many hours of nepkin maffs, reading into how the system works, and advice from this thread, this is my "final destination" build and what I'm leveling up with from 25 on. I'd appreciate any comments or critique. Note that this is an EXPENSIVE build. The Glad Armor +Defense alone is 2 billion, and everything else will probably run another 1 to 2 billion.

Thanks for the offer Flea, both of those filled over the course of the day. Nabbed Reptlbrain's Scirroco D/E and updated the OP with what I still have bids on.
-
A level 35 Dual Aspect Set Enhancment gives 45.88% total bonus. The exact same enhancement at 25 gives 40% total bonus. Why wait 10 levels for 5.88% bonus when I can start frankenslotting now and enjoy the benefits of perma-+3 SOs for 10 more levels?
Fourspeed, no idea how fast I'll get from 22 to 25, but I'll certainly take what you have =D -
I just hit 22, and I want to frankenslot my scrapper. I'm looking to buy the following recipes or IOs, all level 25, which are not moving fast on the market. Variance upward is fine, but I don't want to get anything lower than a 25. I have million inf bids up on the recipes for all the Uncommons, 2 million for the Rares. Contact me here or in-game (@heffroncm) to work out price details if you're looking for more. Thanks for looking
Scirocco's Dervish:
1x Accuracy / Damage
2x Damage / Accuracy / Endurance Reduction
Reactive Armor:
1x Endurance / Recharge / Resistance -
ATM_Machine: I've learned a lot about IOs and frankenslotting. I'm still only level 20 on this Scrapper. GR distracted me into making a Kin/DP Fender and a DS/Dark MM. In the intervening time, I've made over 3 billion Inf just buying recipes, crafting them, and selling the IOs.
My current plan is to frankenslot my powers with all 2 and 3 aspect set IOs at around level 25. These will give the same or more total value than +3 SOs. I should be able to squeeze a couple of odd set bonuses in as well. I'll also be picking up some knockback protection IOs, a stealth IO, the Numina, Miracle, and Regenerative Flesh special IOs, and a LotG +Recharge for 5 powers I can fit it into. This should make levels 22 through 50 really entertaining. -
Basically, the South door from the inside connects with the North door on the outside, and vis-versa. It is a little confusing at first.
-
I don't think it's necessary at all. Making Inf is easy. Just recently I put 500M Inf into my new SG's prestige, generating 1M prestige for base building. That should make for a decent starting base. It was about 1/5 of the money I had available at the time. My highest level character is 21, and I've been playing for less than a month.
-
I'm getting the same numbers as Neogumbercules.
-
The Flash from DCAU. I've always had a soft-spot for speedsters, and he's just broken enough inside to be endearing.
-
I found everything I wanted the game to be when I bought it at launch, and when I bought it again at CoV launch. The potential is finally being realized.
So all the RP is locked away in D huh? I've been out teaming on three characters, hoping to find some, trying to stay in-character whenever possible in non-global chats, and haven't found anything yet. Guess I need to go clubbing... -
Thanks for the build Neo.
From what I understand, the best way to maximize DP damage output is to slot damage procs. Multiples per power, if you can. You seem to have avoided these entirely? -
Aura, thanks for the compliment.
Franklin, glad you're having fun with it. As for what to buy, I found that getting a Miracle: +Recovery socketed into Health at 17 made a HUGE difference. As a Brute, you might look into getting Regerating Flesh: +Regen socketed as well.
No real updates. I haven't even collected my earnings since the last time I posted. Too busy enjoying the Praetorian storylines. Well, that and playing Monday Night Combat. Seriously entertaining game. It seems like prices are falling a bit right now, so I'm probably just going to sit on my billions and see if deflation can make me richer in the next couple weeks.
Strange happenings: I've had two people PM me for marketing advice, and three contact me in-game. Maybe word is starting to get out about how easy it is to make money? Fury, if you're reading this, I apologize in advance: I linked them to your thread and told them you're awesome. -
Further than that, the Trading House transporter only works for Loyalists. Resistance members have their own consignment house to use.
-
Using your notes, taking one procc as .2, testing all those combinations in Mids, and mixing in some nepkin maffs, my quackulations show you to be mostly correct.
For one slots, a single EndMod is just slightly better in Quick Recovery. With two, correct, get the 5% run speed. With three, correct, EndMods are better. With 4, EndMods are slightly better than the set.
For Stamina, one slot Procc, two set EndMod, 3 generic EndMod, 4 change to full set.
For Perfect Body, one procc, two set endmod, don't put 3 or 4 becaues it's just inefficient =D -
1) How much liquid funds do you keep?
My problem was, when I hit about 500M, that I couldn't leverage enough of my capital! It was very frustrating to only have the slots to utilize about 150M at a time, letting the rest just sit and rot. I'm sure I could have made a market alt, but my leveling time was limited and they aren't really useful before 10.
2) How much crafted inventory do you keep?
As little as possible. I buy things to move them in 24 hours or less. I keep my slots full of fast turnover items, and restock overnight with moderately low bids on recipes. Then again, I don't work niches. I set my prices to make a 50% total profit, or to make 55% the "going rate", whichever is higher. Almost everything has sold for the going rate, and I didn't kill any prices with these price points. I also move around a lot, rarely working the same enhancements more than 2 days in a row. Keeps it interesting
3) How much salvage do you keep?
I don't keep any salvage. I buy it nao. Except for rares, salvage prices are such a minimal part of the cost that I'll tend to overpay just so I don't have to bid more than once.
4) Base setup?
I don't use a base for my marketing. I use e-mail to myself to store overflow enhancements that won't fit in the Consignment House. It's tedious to mail them one a time, 15 seconds apart. -
They do have outdoor power suppression areas. Just try to cross the sonic fence in Praetoria. The tech is there to flag Wentworths as a no-powers area.
