Ditto, I have the badge, but I could bring along a Tanker, Mastermind (bubbles), Dark/Pain Corruptor, or Fortunata if needed.
  2. Also, if your screen is *really* full of laggy graphics, go to Menu -> Options and select the Graphics and Audio tab. There's a slider (Graphics Quality, I think) were you can turn down the SFX, particles and other general stuff. Set it to Performance or Minimum and see if that helps.

Yes, well, grab some SOs, you'll need them for Mender Ramiel's arc. Get some advice on IOs (500 million Inf is indeed plenty for a first pass. I've done permanent IO builds for far less too.)

Then get to Dark Astoria and hop on some iTrials. Pretty basic plan, all in all.
  4. Quick sign up: Iron Mistress, @gameboy1234, and I'll check status of the Trial in game right now...
  5. Mender Ramiel for sure, and then you can start running Incarnate Trials with the rest of the folks. (Actually you can start any time after 50, but it's quickest to get the alpha slot out of the way with Mender Ramiel's arc. Also, the mission explains some important lore things, which is a nice change from a lot of the content.)

But you really should IO your character. Get some regular SO's slotted, then post some ideas on the appropriate AT forum. It'll really help with the incarnate content, which can be hard. Making your toon tougher with well chosen IO Sets is a great help.
  6. Yeah, doing nothing but DfB is mind-blowingly boring and makes you a dunce on how to play, but running one once in a while is just silly fun.

It may be best to go to the "real world" (primal earth) anyway. There's more to do, and you can easily access First Ward from Talos or Cap, since portals are set up in both places. Good new arcs in Primal for villains and heroes both, and as mentioned the new Praetorian content won't take you all the way to 29.
  8. Also check out Ouroboros. There's new lower level contacts in the game with new content. Checking them out should be fun.

You ought to try the newbie content in Atlas Park too, at least once. See how the other half (level 1) lives. This was totally changed from the old starting missions, btw. Also look for new lower level Trials and Task Forces. DFB (Death From Below) is very common and brand new. DiB (Drowning in Blood) less so but still fun.

Also, if you don't use them, ask on your server's forums what the popular global channels are for your sever. Being a member of 2 or more of those will improve your chances quite a bit of finding teams for Task Forces and Trials.

I'd say the same thing about an Invulnerability/Super Strength tanker.

    1. In Invulnerability, slot everything with 2 Resists that will take it. Slot one Endurance Reduction in any power that will take it.

    2. Slot 3 Heal and 3 Recharge into Dull Pain.

    3. Slot your attacks with 2 Accuracy, 1 Damage and 1 Endurance Reduction. Add more Damage when you have extra slots.

    4. Any level you have an extra slot, add it to Stamina, until you have 3 slots total. Put 3 Endurance Modification in them.

#4 Applies to any and all builds, so it's not really harder than SR/Staff.

Also, Air Superiority is nice with Super Strength (no weapon redraw), and Fly is probably the easiest travel power imo.

When picking any powers in this game, you usually want to take from both your primary and secondary evenly, or keep your primary one or two powers ahead of your secondary. Skipping powers is kind of advanced. It can be done effectively, but you need to know what you are doing. Not being experienced here leads to things like noobs skipping powers they don't "like," Darkest Night for example, and then I have to log out of Atlas Park to avoid going crazy or saying something really rude.

There's no one "right" way to play the game, but taking some advice can make your experience a lot more fun. It doesn't hurt to plan out a build, even just on a piece of paper, then execute it. Takes out some guesswork, and the resulting increase in fun is usually worth it.
  10. An even better farm might be to join a team and do a TF or SF. You might be less bored that way.
  11. Right, an Invention license is $2 per month (160 points), and an Auction House license is also $2 per month. So you could add those things to your account for $4 per month. Note that you have to buy like either $5 or $15 points at a time. The $15 amount gives you bonus points, so it's more efficient if you can afford that much at one time.

Or you can play the game totally free on just the regular enhancements, like we all did when the game first came out.
  12. I can't give much advice on slotting /Time. My Beasts/Time Mastermind is only level 18, and appears to be skipping Enhancements until SOs are available. I put a fair amount of slots into Temporal Mending (the heal), so look to slot that up early. I skipped Temporal Selection, probably judging that until I got better pets it wouldn't be worth it.

I'm also taking all the powers in Beasts/, mostly because they're a lot of fun. For Robotics/, I'd skip Photon Grenade and Repair, and either take Temporal Selection, or dip into the Leadership pool. I didn't take a movement power, you'll probably have to add one.

Take one if you're bored, but not if it means skipping something else useful.

For early levels though, take the attacks, at least two, or three for beasts and maybe demons. Before you have all your pets, those attacks do a significant percent of your damage, and should not be avoided. Also, with only a few pets to command, you might be pretty bored unless you have a few attacks to play with.

Note that /Time is a little busy, but not too bad. I'd take the first two attacks and see if you'd like to add more to your attack chain.

Personal opinion: Repair is crappy, and /Time has a much better heal. Skip Repair, use the one in /Time.
  14. I have not seen the Dark Knight yet, so I'm carefully posting without reading anything to avoid spoilers.

But I think perhaps the movie might be a little like this:

    Stage downloads?

    1. Stop the program/downloader

    2. Start the NC Soft launcher, choose City of heroes and let it download.

This is actually a neat idea. There's a couple of generic statues behind City Hall in Atlas Park. Perhaps those statues could be replaced with States and S. Psyc.

Yeah this is important. I assumed that going VIP and then back to Prem would allow you to re-choose all of your server unlocks. Not so. Once you unlock a slot as Prem, I believe that's it. That slot is set, and short of a character transfer you can't alter it.

You've basically got two sets of unlocks, one for VIP and one for Prem, and once you pick 'em they stay like that, no matter how much you switch.
  19. Has anyone mentioned "simplify enhancements yet?"

    1. Get rid of "combining"

    2. Get rid of TOs and DOs.

    3. Make enhancements work for a a larger range of levels. Don't have them "go red." Just slowly degrade their bonus instead.

    4. Rename everything so that the names make sense.

    5. Lose origins.
  20. Yeah I'd like to join this.

And 5s after that, your taunt wears off, putting you back to your natural position on the aggro list, while I still have a 30s taunt remaining.
Which should multiply your subsequent damage by 30,000. Yeah I can see that overcoming all damage done to something like an AV.

Thing is, with duration in there too, it seems to me that a Tanker, Brute, etc. without Taunt would never be able to steal aggro from someone who has Taunt. An aura usually only has a few seconds duration, so anyone with Taunt should be able to stay 4x to 10x ahead of anyone else. Assuming they're both playing normally, doing damage, etc.

  22. Here's the real rule here:

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancement_Diversification

    In summary it is:

    1. Rule of 95%.
    2. Rule of 55%
    3. Two others (interrupt and knockback) that no one really cares about.

The first rule applies to most things, and is where the "rule of 3" comes from. Most top level SOs provide 33.3% improvement each. For three, that's 99.9%. Which is over the 95% rule, but just barely, so it's ok.

Those powers are: Accuracy, Confuse, Damage, Defense DeBuff, Endurance Modification, Endurance Reduction, Fear, Fly, Heal, Hold, Immobilize, Intangible, Jump, Recharge, Run, Sleep, Stun, Taunt.

The other rule at 55% is mostly for defense and some debuffs. Those SOs actually provide much lower values, around 20% iirc, and if you add up three of them you get 60% or so, but that's still close enough to 55% that it's fine. Again you can't slot any more than 3 of them without loosing most of the bonus. (You only get about 3% instead of 20%.)

These are: Range, Defense Buff, Resist Damage, To Hit Buff, To Hit Debuff.

You can tell which it is by looking at the values on the SO. 33% = 95% tops, 20% = 55% tops. Usually what I do is remember that Def and Resist are the main odd ones out, and the rest are 95%.

ED counts against IO Sets. However, not all individual IOs provide the same bonus. So that Set, Perfect Zinger, provides Range, Taunt Duration, and Recharge. So he's probably not going over the rule because his "rule of 3" is distributed over several IOs. In fact, you can see in the screenshot that he has 93.6% Taunt Duration, 23.5% Range, 39.2% Recharge, none of which are over the ED caps.)

BTW, the rule of three is not really a rule of 3, that's just an easy mnemonic. The real rule is a rule of "look up and understand the formula." This works out to a rule of 3 for SOs, but nothing else. Not TOs, not DOs, and not IOs. (Dunno about Hamios.) So you have to be careful how you interpret it.

EDIT: fixed Perfect Zinger because the answers were right in front of me.

    Stage downloads?

Right, but you are *playing* the game, right? Or making progress with the downloader? You can run the tutorial and go to Atlas Park at least?
