Player returning: what to do at 50?

I just returned after a long break and want to start playing my 50 fire/kin again. What do most people do at 50? What is the repeatable content? I think I know some:

1) Incarnate Trials
2) Level 50 Tip Missions
3) Farm for cash (someone said I should do DA missions but I have no idea what that is)
4) Help lowbies PL for fun (I assume I can take a group of newbies into the MA and get them quick levels - this has always been fun for me)

What else do you 50s out there do for kicks?

Thanks!

The new Dark Astoria incarnate arcs are pretty good

One of the first counter-questions is "are you returning as a VIP player or a 'freemium' player?" (I suppose it's possible that your "long break" started after Freedom began and that you're returning as a "free-to-play" player, but sort of doubt it.)

As mentioned, the new Dark Astoria revamp has a lot of new stories, repeatable missions, and repeatable arcs (through Ouroboros) for Incarnate loot.

Personally, though, I'm not sure that DA missions are necessarily your best bet for "farming for cash" since the enemy groups are a bit tougher and challenging than some of the old groups.

With the popularity of the new "Death From Below" repeatable mission that seems to fill the broadcast channel in Atlas Park day and night, I'd have to say "good luck" helping lowbies level, since DFB seems to have replaced "lowbie AE farms" in that regard -- though it does the same job of churning out newly-minted 50's whose players aren't quite sure how a lot of their powers work.

Knowing what type of player (VIP or otherwise) will help in offering more suggestions on "what to do!" And welcome back!

Gold Name = VIP, doesn't it?

Welcome back!

Thank you!

I am a VIP with a 36 month badge. Played CoH from launch, played in the CoV Beta (yes, I had an Ice Brute lol), and so I am very familiar with traditional CoX.

Where do you think I should start? Should I go to Dark Astoria via Oroboros and just follow the contacts? Are the Incarnate trials solo or team only?

iTrials are team only - large teams at that. Generally, there is a place people congregate to form up, it varies by server, but it is often Pocket D or RWZ.

DA is the soloing alternative to the iTrials. There is a short intro arc that takes you to DA, but I can't recall the contact sice I only did it one time.

So the choice for Incarnate content is the wild & crazy iTrials (lots of powers fx going off, big, big opponents) OR the solo DA content OR (after the Alpha slot is opened) the usual level TFs like ITF, etc., which will then drop salvage used to make Incarnate powers OR some combination of all of them.

iTrials is definitely the faster way to go, if that is a consideration.

Ooops -- it does! Then again, from a while back when there were still VIP "White Names" I just gave up trying to guess, and went for the direct approach there.

You can also do the Signature Story Arcs. They are repeatable, where the Hero Merit you can get from doing any one chapter is on a weekly timer (though the first time you do any given chapter you always have the option of claiming a Hero Merit as a reward no matter how many times you've repeated other chapters that week). So if you've never done any of the SSA chapters yet, then you could get eight Hero Merits in one session by simply doing them all in succession (seven chapters total in SSA#1 plus one chapter, so far, in SSA#2). And even if you've claimed your weekly Hero Merit, you can claim 20 regular Reward Merits for doing another chapter (even the same one again) that week.

(BTW, when I say Hero Merit, I mean Alignment Merit...the same reward schedule applies to Villain Merits as well.)

NOR-RAD - 50 Rad/Rad/Elec Defender - Nikki Stryker - 50 DM/SR/Weap Scrapper - Iron Marauder - 50 Eng/Eng/Pow Blaster
Lion of Might - 50 SS/Inv/Eng Tanker - Darling Nikkee - 50 (+3) StJ/WP/Eng Brute - Ice Giant Kurg - 36 Ice/Storm Controller

Alternately he could -really- speed up his incarnate progress by choosing the 10 thread reward instead of the alignment merit. That's 100 threads in one go (doing 7 episodes of vol 1, 2 episodes of vol 2, and repeating any 1 for the weekly) which could mean unlocking slots or slotting open ones.

Also check out Ouroboros. There's new lower level contacts in the game with new content. Checking them out should be fun.

You ought to try the newbie content in Atlas Park too, at least once. See how the other half (level 1) lives. This was totally changed from the old starting missions, btw. Also look for new lower level Trials and Task Forces. DFB (Death From Below) is very common and brand new. DiB (Drowning in Blood) less so but still fun.

Also, if you don't use them, ask on your server's forums what the popular global channels are for your sever. Being a member of 2 or more of those will improve your chances quite a bit of finding teams for Task Forces and Trials.
