Atomic aura is great. Don't like it? DON'T BUY IT. Next.

Quote:I totally agree. Take for instance, my Rad/Elec defender. In fact, I can think of nothing more heroic than irradiating my foes until they are as weak and feeble as if they were 93 years old and starving, then repeatedly electrocuting them - or alternatively, blowing up my comrades' dead bodies in a tiny thermonuclear holocaust - until said enemies fall over in a smoking, glowing heap.Heheh. No worries.
Yeah, you can always start yourself in Pretoria and all but... ew? Defender? I have yet to see one over on the isles. It just feels so... heroic.

Nobody does 5 Decimations (5% rech) and one Devastation Hold Proc? That's my typical slotting - I usually stay Glass Cannon or 'depend upon the kindness of strangers' who Ice Shield me.

When are people going to figure out that comedic 30 minute cartoons are telling deeper, richer stories than hour long network 'dramas'?

I just watched the trip link. And I'd like an apology, because now there's all this brain all over my ceiling, and who is going to clean that up!!! Seriously, why would any<thud>.

But the even more awesome thing about her was that she was so willing to take that part in Airplane, and totally mess with people's minds who thought she was only the 'stereotypical housewife' when she was actually much more self-aware than people gave her credit for. I can think of very few cameos in the history of film and TV that could have surprised more people than that one.

Quote:I like to think of it similarly: Let's say you have a friend who is also a mechanic. And let's say you actually pay him to do work on your car occasionally. Now let's say he comes up with a new additive that makes your car run better. Would you say to this friend, "Hey, You should give this stuff away for free!" Or would you say, "Hey, you should sell this stuff, it's worth money to some people!" That's my way of looking at it - NCSoft provides us a fun game, and is kind enough to actually make it better occasionally for no money - they are entitled to charge for some of the improvements.I do
I just understand why they do it. They want to see cool stuff, and that is the way they think they will most likely get it.
I didn't buy the party pack, but I'm not whining about not having the seet guitar emote, or the funny disco dance emote - which I saw someone use to great effect in a costume contest just this weekend. So someone got some value out of it.
I still hold to my argument: If you don't want it, can't afford it, don't think it's worth it, or are totally against the thought of paying extra for some of the content, Don't Buy It. -
I don't know if this works for multiple enemies, but I know that if you're behind a foe and hit him with a single target hold, if you get him, he can't shoot back. I think; there may be exceptions...

Nevermind, 2 girls.
Some of the royal titles might be fun:

Silly:
Fuzzy and Wuzzy/Fuzzles and Wuzzles
Or you could just call them:

and

You might find this choice makes things easier. -

May I ask why? (currently leveling up my widow)
-
Hey Frog, (and others) I'm currently leveling up my widow, and I was wondering about Eviscerate. It has a huge animation time compared to the other powers, but I've read that the aoe is generally only enough to get 1 mob, making it harder to fit into an attack chain and keep up DPS.
Is this accurate, or is it worth getting Eviscerate rather than keep up a strong single target chain? -

You have the Gladiator's Strike Dmg proc (Smash damage) in several of your melee powers - is the damage on those the same as on a Mako's Proc (Lethal damage)? [According to Paragon Wiki [http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Table_of_Special_IOs], same damage...)
If I'm mistaken about the damage being the same, is Lethal resisted more than Smashing enough to justify the price difference? (Unless you're focusing more on PvP...)
Also, I've seen in several places that a third slot in Hasten is actually of less benefit than a LOTG rech+ in another power... [not positive, and I didn't look at your build to see if you had a spot...] -
Rain of Arrows
Because I love the irony when other players using other blaster nukes start telling me that Rain of Arrows is the most resisted damage type, less damage than other nukes, wimpy looking, no visceral OOMPH,
Rain of Arrows
and yet I just keep dropping them mini-nukes on my opponent. And doing all the math, theyre all It just doesnt stack up against Nova, Thunderous Blast drains end AND kills 'em dead, Inferno is just sick, sick, sick, Bilzzard is terrific... RoA has to be the worst
Rain of Arrows
Blaster nuke by far. -

Quote:Just off the top of my head, it seems that any content made for 40-50 is enjoyable only by people from 40-50, whereas content made for lower level characters can be enjoyed by people in that level, as well as 50's - 50's can enjoy ALL the content in the game, thanks to O-zone and super-sidekicking. So making things for only L40-50 characters would needlessly limit the experience, imo. [I don't think I'm saying anything that hasn't been said in other threads like this.]So, um, what was the big complaint about introducing the incarnate system with i18? Nothing new for 50s to do. So now that we're getting incarnates for stuff to do we get....new task forces? That's it? And the new arcs are going to be for a level range that got new arcs in i17?
Am I the only one that thinks they got it backwards, and the new arcs should be for level 40-50? Or even 45-50? Since it doesn't look to me like 50s will have a lot of new stuff to do with their new Incarnate abilities at all. Soloists will get a grand total of nothing (well ok, there are new tip and morality missions, but those aren't specifically incarnate content and all level ranges get them) and everyone else will get a frenzy of people running the new TFs for the badge and then abandoning them in favor of more speed ITFs unless the new TFs give a good enough reward to incentivize running them. In which case people will speed-run them. I hate speed running, so I'll get new tip missions, which hopefully will be good because they'll mean the Malta Gunslinger Action Figure and Doc Quantum's Moral Quandry show up less often.
So I guess what I really want in i19 is new arcs for my 50s, and more tip missions featuring stupid crazy chaos on convenient terrain, kamikaze Scrapper allies, and/or the opportunity to punch Nazis in the face. Oh, and some level 50 hero tip missions with CoT, because there aren't any that feature them as the main enemy group.
Since this game is, (to re-re-reexpress a theme), about the journey, not the end-game, providing HL-only content is contrary to this theme, and low-mid level content is right in line with this goal.
On the other hand, the new TFs are right in line with your request, and look to be expanding the scope of HL content.
Quick tip: you can start your own TFs and tell people it's not a speed run; I think there are many out there (including me) that aren't necessaily married to speed runs, though they are fun from time to time. -

Quote:Re: the first paragraph above, yeah, the whole 'success as tragedy' is really a problem for me. Upper Middle class wealthy... family having problems? Cry me a river, you whiney little b***es.They did a lot of telling instead of showing. "You're never around for the kids." "I usually tell this kind of stuff to dad." "You have to face that he has a learning disability." But we haven't been with these characters long enough for me to really connect with that or to be convinced. Frankly, they all seemed pretty happy except the teenage daughter doing teenage daughter stuff and I guess their mom works a lot because she's super successful. Really, these are the kinds of problems you want to have. So I didn't get the dysfunctional vibe at all, except that they kept saying it.
<snip>
And I guess the pace is the other reason it's apparently better than Heroes. Except so much happened here in one hour that I didn't care about it happening. Like, the dad is, I guess, unhappy with his job or something. Then he gets super strength and that makes his life more fulfilling. Except I don't know this guy at all, and they never really show him being unhappy at his job - so when he gets super strength, I feel no vicarious joy that, wow, now his life is going to turn around! I'm just like, OK that's cool dude. Same with their "dumb" kid. I never see him being dumb except that maybe he doesn't know where Brazil is. So when he does really well on his math test without studying, I'm not very excited for him. I was just thinking, oh OK so he's like Forge or Cipher. So that's why shows with good writing usually have a slower pace. Because if stuff happens to characters before you care about them, then you don't care about the stuff that happened.
I guess if you just want people to shoot fire at each other then that doesn't matter.
I don't mean to slam the show so harshly. Like I said, it was fine and I'll probably watch more of it. I'm just surprised people here seemed to like it as much as they did. It seems to me mediocre to above average, but certainly not great. It doesn't have a laugh track, so that's a big plus.
Different strokes and all that.
Re: the second paragraph above, agreed - I think it may have been intersting to see maybe 2 of the 4 members of the family get their powers in the first ep, and begin to deal with that set of issues, then the other 2 members get their powers in the next episode. The rushing was offputting, esp. after seeing the recent cable shows that have done very well with exposition while not being at all boring (Burn Notice, Breaking Bad, Justified...)
I think it's not bad, but it could become a recurring ABC Afterschool special if they're not careful. Disney's tendency to avoid controversial viewpoints on complicated subjects makes them very subject to this. -
Quote:I agree with this, and disagree with starting as a scrapper. All the defense and resistance scrappers have would make it far more difficult to start with archetypes that don't have these inherently, like, well, almost all the other ones. And since this game is about the journey and not the destination, I'd go with a blaster. If you want to test out the game, a brute/scrapper can give you the best 'feel' for how things work.
If you want to learn the game, play a blaster. The fact your a glass cannon means you have to learn tricks and tips in order to stay alive, which will benefit you later when you start rolling alts left and right.
(they should really make a thread titles 'The things i learned while playing a blaster...') -

I liked it, overall, but there was a definite "Disney" feel to it... relationship-angst semi-resolved by episode-end, the daughter's virginity being held up as an example of her 'goodness'... the syrupy sweetness is vexing. (I suppose Chiklis might need that emotional change-of-pace after The Shield, but still...)
Maybe it won't go too far beyond the premiere, but if it does, this will be the killer for me. As for NCIS, no way am I ditching that show - it's the one CBS procedural that hasn't given in to the 'we can only shoot with colors that are found nowhere in nature and that will make your BLEED founts of blood' and the 'all light is Perfect Golden Hour Light' memes. Getting really sick of that.
