Don't know her, but I can't feel sad for someone that dies at that age. She lived a good life and it was her time.

The thing about Barbara was that for an entire generation (not my own granted) she was effectively Mom. She defined the house wife of the 50s and 60s, not so much the stereotype, but she made it cool to be a house wife while still taking on her own challenges,a nd not being cliched about it.

Her role as June Cleaver helped take a small but serious step forward for women actresses.

But the even more awesome thing about her was that she was so willing to take that part in Airplane, and totally mess with people's minds who thought she was only the 'stereotypical housewife' when she was actually much more self-aware than people gave her credit for. I can think of very few cameos in the history of film and TV that could have surprised more people than that one.

June Cleaver yes, I will always remember her for that, but that scene in Airplane! is one of the funniest I have ever seen. 30 years later it still cracks me up.
