Eh, I'm fairly ambivalent on this. I don't think it'll happen though. The devs didn't want people outside killing random mobs on the streets, they wanted people in missions. That's why they halved debt in instanced missions.
I'm not sure how much it would help either. MA has the upside of being able to auto-sk players, create all boss or all LT spawns, and lock spawns level at anywhere between 51 and 54. And you don't have to compete with other teams for the enemies since the missions are instanced. -
I know that this is a suggestion that's been brought up multiple times. However, with Going Rogue having been announced, it seems like a good time to talk about it. When GR hits, there will have to be a minor change made to it anyway, so that we can search for members of All ATs, rather than just those of our faction like we currently can. Since it has to be worked on anyway, why not make some other changes to it to improve our ability to find teams. Below are some of the things I'd like to see added. How about you?
1. Add the ability to search for a custom level range. I.E. I could search for toons only between levels 33 and 36.
2. Add the ability to search for people by powerset. So if I wanted to only see characters with kinetics, or radiation emission, or superstrength I could.
3. Add the ability for team leaders to list their team in the search tool as looking for more players. -

OK, I'll revize my suggestion so it doesn't involve anything new being added.
Yes, Break Frees are available. They are not very common random drops, however. How about upping their drop rates or being able to make an inspiration out of just 2 other inspirations? I get frustrated when I reach a boss that I know will defeat me simply becuase I do not have a break free at that moment (or 3 of something else . . . this can be a catch-22 moment, do I sacrifice 3 heals that I will need to survive the minions or try to get lucky without making a break free out them?). Yes, leaving the mission . . . finding a contact . . . purchasing the exact inspirations I need for this one spawn . . . and going back is an option. A poor option in my book. Doing that everytime I face a boss without that right colored skittle is not fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
I gotta say /unsigned on this one either. I rarely use breakfrees on any of my toons, so getting more of them would be useless for me. -
I agree with this suggestion. Maybe then my wife and I's redside farming duo can pick up 30 million/run PL'ing lowbies on a lib farm like we did last 2xp weekend.

If everything is a nemesis plot, then Praetorian Earth (and by extension Praetorian Nemesis) are also nemesis plots. -
I'd love to hear your advice Umbral and Werner (if you can give me any without slipping into a fugue state of spreadsheet-crunching). So how about instead of limiting it to 500 million, I just say give me whatever advice you can without including purples in the build.
-
Just comparing damage numbers from mids, it looks like it's different on different attacks, but on average a brute needs roughly a 60% damage boost from fury to deal scrapper level damage. In reality though, it's probably a little more than that, since the scrapper will get crits.
-
Skipping it is viable, but I don't like too. Without it I feel like fire melee really lacks burst damage. And there are times when that's what you need.

OK, I'm back.
This is why I hate suggestions boards. The original post was just that, a suggestion, and nothing more. A few snarky replies later and it's now an agrument over specifics.
The impetus for the suggestion is the gap between the haves and and have nots in a binary status effect system. The gap exists, that's why things like Break Frees, IO sets, and power tweaks have been added. Not liking the specifics of a suggestion and running it into the ground, while ignoring the cause of the suggestion being made does nothing to help make the game more enjoyable.
Peace out.
[/ QUOTE ]
For some reason, you seem to have the idea that people should only reply positively to your suggestions. That's not the way this works.
As to your suggestion, I think it's unnecessary. Breakfrees work just fine. -

FWIW, if there isn't another player involved, yes it is soloing. Shivans, heavies, whatever. It's still soloing. Just not as impressive.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is also a perfectly valid way of looking at things. It's just a matter of opinion. -
OK, I updated the build with some of the suggestions here. This has the Achilles proc in GC, and adds some defense. Regen is slightly lower and recharge is the same.

I'm all for this. I can't stand the game pre-22 (except on regen scrappers) for this very reason. There will be plenty of people who say blue insps and slotting for endurance reduction are fine, or that it's part of the "challenge" of low levels.
That's all well and good, and if you like things the way they are, that's fine too. In my opinion though, it just makes those levels a slow, boring, grind. -
Soloing an AV at 27, even with using inspirations is impressive. It's definitely worth boasting about. The only thing (in my mind) not worth boasting over is if you had to use a shivan or a heavy or something to "solo" it. I don't consider that really soloing.

No one liked the idea of being able to get a Shivan ONCE (per character) outside of PvP? Let us find out just how powerful they are, and we might be more inclined to brave the PvP zone to get them.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's nothing to brave. I'm not on Freedom or Virtue (Justice actually), but I can go into Bloody Bay anytime of the day and get a Shivan unmolested. Justice isn't a low population server at all. It's just that even if someone else is in the zone, they're probably after a Shivan too.
Just get past your fear and go in there. It takes all of about 10 minutes and in some ways is easier for low damage ATs now that the zones up their damage and give them freebie resistance.
[/ QUOTE ]
I AM on freedom and I can go into bloody bay pretty much any time I want and pick up a shivan, no problems. -
It's just the usual friday server maintenance. They should be back up an an hour or 2

Just bumping this once to see if I can get some feedback on the build. If not I'll let it die.

On the map there is a tab called "City", which will show all the zones, how they connect to one another, and if train lines ( yellow and green) connect to them.
Rolling over each of the zones give's you it's name.
(To add; if you are looking for Rikti for the Aura mission, the Science Store contact in Brickstown gives a mission with Rikti in it to unlock his store).

I've almost got my 18 month vet badge, and I didn't know you could do this. It's weird what you learn sometimes. -
That's right. Or you could wait til 48 and set the diff to level 2 and achieve the same effect.
-
I'll add my 2 cents to this thread.
I tried PvP for the first time today.
I'd been in the zones to get shivans and warburg nukes before, but never actually engaged any other players in a fight.
Today, on a whim, I thought I'd give it a shot, and see what it was like, maybe I'd enjoy it. So I logged in my softcapped, perma-hasten, capable-of-soloing-multiple-AVs-at-once level 50 fire/sr scrapper and headed to RV (on freedom).
To begin with, it took me 5 minutes to figure out how to get out of the hero base. I thought the portal to the outside was a SG portal. Once I made it outside, I found there were already maybe half a dozen each of heroes and villains already fighting. I got invited to the hero team, and started fighting. I died pretty quickly, but I figured, hey, I'm new to this, I probably just haven't figured out the tricks of the trade yet. After a few minutes of rapidly dying every time I got in a fight, I started checking out my powers. Turns out that the billion and a half influence that I'd spent to turn my scrapper into an unstoppable killing machine meant nothing in the world of PvP. I was no longer anywhere near the softcap, nor was hasten even close to permanent.
And to top it all off, my powers didn't even WORK the same way. For some reason, practiced brawler only gave me mez protection for maybe 5 seconds, and it still only recharged every 2 minutes or so.
Don't get me wrong, I was aware that powers worked differently in PvP, adn that some new strategies might be called for if I was to be successful, but the true impact of it didn't hit me until I went there and did it.
I spent maybe 15 or 20 minutes there altogether, and I doubt I'll ever go back. I didn't like the fact that the build I had spent months earning the money for was gutted as soon as I stepped into the zone. I didn't like the fact that I'd have to re-learn how everything worked to be able to compete.
Having not played the old, pre-I13 pvp, I can't really say one way or the other whether I would have like it better, but I don't like what we have now. If the idea behind the changes was to encourage more people to try PvP and like it. it didn't succeed with me. -
I was playing my bot/dark MM today on a team with a thug/dark, and I noticed something odd about gang war. The posse members show up with a blue rectangle around them, like an ally, but I can anchor darkest night on them, and can heal off of them using twilight grasp. Has it always been this way and I never noticed or is this some new bug?

Jay dislikes Furries.
[/ QUOTE ]Jay isn't the only costume designer any more, either
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly why I said what I did earlierthe crew is more likely to do stuff, if he's unwilling.
I think my mystification with the furry-hate here is that this community above and beyond most others has been demonstrably more tolerant and even recently banding together against trolling bigotry.
Why does it always seem to stop just short of actual tolerance for a reasonably rare and basically harmless side of things? I'm not saying there *are not* people who are pretty foul-ly deviant among the furry crowd, but I am saying that with a tiny bit of thought, you CAN understand that they are in the drastic minority.
But even people I know in person for whatever reason, suddenly get creeped out by "yiff" - the proper term for furry pron. Equating yiff with furry as a term for the same thing is a problem but I don't see THAT being broadly understood any time soon. I love furry pron too, I just don't dress up in costumes to do it.
I also don't dress up in a maid outfit, or a baby's bib, or a leather gimp outfit. How are those any different from having a fursuit? There's an entire community of people who simply don't identify with being "human" out there - way more than most folks like to admit, but it's very simple when it comes down to it.
Shamans have long espoused "animal totems" and such. Ancient cultures have always associated spirits with animals, gods and the like. It's something that is entirely integrated with our society from our ancient roots.
But yet, stick a fur suit on, and suddenly it's point and laugh... doesn't make sense
I used to dress up, but the costume got damaged in an apartment waterleak.
And yes, dressing like that at comic con got me PLENTY of free art.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, I'll reiterate my earlier point. I'm all for more costume parts, anthropomorphic animal parts included. I'm against using the name furry to describe it though. Not because of what a furry is or isn't, but because of what people perceive them to be. Call it a furry pack, and the first thing that jumps into a lot of people's heads will be that people are using it to dress up like animals and cyber. To most peole, there is no difference between "furry" and "yiff" (a term I'd never heard before today).
It may not be fair to the furry community, and it may not be tolerant, but it's reality. And it's unlikely that the devs will use a name that most people think refers to deviant sexual behavior. -
I gotta go with lucky on this one. I don't think a modest recharge buff inspiration would be overpowered at all. Look at it this way. If the numbers matched his suggestion (7.5%, 15%, 22.5%) then a full tray (20) of large inspirations would take you slightly over the recharge speed cap for 1 minute (assuming standard duration).
Compare this to a full tray of large defense inspirations. Using 2 will take you well over the softcap, so a full tray of 20 would keep you at the softcap, with over 20% extra defense to soak up debuffs, for 10 minutes.
8 large red inspirations will take a blaster or scrapper to their damage cap (assuming ~100% bonus from power slotting), so a full tray will damage cap them for 2 minutes, with 4 left over.
4 large yellow inspirations will put a level 50 character at the to-hit cap, so a full tray would keep a character there for 5 minutes.
5 large orange inspirations will put a tank at the resistance cap of 90%, so a full tray would keep them there for 4 minutes.
Or we can combine them and be godly for a short burst. A scrapper could have a tray with 8 large reds, 2 large purples, 4 large oranges, and 4 large yellows and have softcapped defense, and capped resistance, tohit, and damage for 60 seconds.
So by comparison, the numbers he suggested for a recharge inspiration are actually underpowered compared to all the other inspirations. That is unless you want to argue that somehow being at the resistance cap is overpowered compared to having softcapped defense, capped resistances, damage, and tohit. -
The point I was trying to make though, is that if you DO want to play a natural-origin human character, none of the current control sets really fit. Every other archetype (kheldians and doms not included) has power choices that can be played as a straight-up vanilla human. No weird race, no superpowers. A watchmen style hero if you will. Controllers and dominators simply don't. And they should.
-
I'm ready to start another scrapper build, and I've settled on katana/regen. I've got a build together, but I'd like to improve on it if I can. Here's an idea of what I'm looking for, and the build below. If you can make any improvements I'd love to hear them.
- Good blend of offensive and defensive slotting (the current build slots for regeneration and recharge).
- Budget of around 500 million
- I start slotting my IOs at level 30, so I don't have to wait until 50 to enjoy the IO'd build. I don't play level 50s that much for the most part, so waiting til 50 to start is kind of a waste of money for me.
- I'd like to keep superspeed as my travel power unless you have a REALLY good reason not to.

Oh god no. Please...THE HORROR!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Do explain, why having extra costume equipment which has 'fur' appearances, is any more horrific than the robotic/cyborg stuff from the other pack?
Personally, I'm *terrified* of robots. Physically I get dizzy looking at 'realistic' robots like you see on youtube. That's horror for me.
I still bought - and USE - those costume parts, because they're part of one of my character's background.
Just as any given 'magical cat girl' or 'uplifted porcupine' has their own place.
The only horror about "furries" is the lack of information and the huge prejudice against them because of that lack.

Edited to explain my feelings a little better, and hopefully not get caught up in the flame war.
I'll admit that I'm fairly ignorant of the "furry community". When I hear the word furry, I think of people dressing up in animal costumes to have sex. And unfortunately that seems to be the impression that the average person has of it. It might not be fair, but it's reality. If you want an example, go to google image search, turn off safesearch, and type in furry or furries. Over half the returns are either furry porn or jokes about furry sex. So tying the name furries to animal costume parts is going to give people the wrong idea.
If you still don't get where I'm coming from, please support MY ideas as well then. I've listed them here for your perusal.
My new jazz-singer themed superpack: The Scat Pack!
The often requested water-themed powerset: Watersports!
My 80s dance-battle pack: Break Dancing Super Men, or BDSM for short.
