MM/Domi is a great duo like mentioned above, and neither player needs to feel he is a buffbot only supporting the other.
The MM will have an easier time with the dom controlling things and the dom will have an easier time with the MM soaking up some agro and doing nice damage. -
-
I have a level 50 DA/Fire tanker i have played to bits, love that combo but dont offer much utility beyond DA.
If i where to reccomend anything else it would hands down be DA/Stone melee tanker - Oppressive gloom + fault is an awesome combo that is up often. And both fault and tremor will help you buy time if your heal aint recharged.
The big drawback, pairing two of the most end-costly sets with each other can be a painful experience. Expect to slot loads of Endredux and chase +recovery bonuses...
For scrappers spines is a classic, but fire should work nicely aswell. -
I expect a Kin to have it, but i dont expect him to use it on every player all the time. If one member is struggling to keep up (stone tank for example) i expect that member to be buffed.
But mostly i expect the Kin to have SB avaliable for tough boss fights, keeping a 8-man team SB'd a whole TF is tedious (but not that hard, i like to keep team perma-SB'd on the rare occasions i play kin) but just having it for when the team actually needs it is a great help (Recluse, States, Hero1, Rom etc.).
I cant come up with any decent excuse for NOT having it if you join any end-game TF. I would rather have a Kin with SO's and SB on my team than a Pimped out Kin full of purples without it.
There are dual builds, if you dont want it solo get a team build with it, even with just SO's it will still be preferable. And if it is to hard to keep it on everyone use it on thoose that really need it and use it in tough fights. -

Bug Description: Grey "border" around avatar, i assume it is supposed to be a border around each avatar, using the villain skin this seem to work as intended with an equally big border around each avatar. Using the hero skin the border seem to be off, looking pretty silly. The real big problem comes when you are using a .gif avatar where a lot of the avatar are supposed to be transparent showing the forum background colour, like i am, then it looks just outright silly...

Looking good so far!
_EU... Ah well i can live with it for a while until you get around to fixing it . -
Heya! I got a Dark/Fire tank and i love him to bits, one of the most fun toons i ever tried. The only time i let another tank be "main tank" instead of me is when facing AV's with massive energy damage.
Where the dark armour really shines is facing big massive groups of foes, your health might be going down fast but with Dark regeneration you would be suprised how surviveable you are.
Also i slotted for +recovery and +recharge rather than +defence. You really need some extra recovery and the recharge helps getting your heal up faster.
My build, it might be helpful even if it is Dark/Fire:

3 of was zoning into a mish just now when the game just stopped loading and now we all get "Cant connect to DB server" when we try to log back in. Is it just us or is Union having problems right now?
-
A better EU forum would be nice i guess... But really don't care that much about this forum, much more concerned with the actual game than the fiddly stuff outside it.
And it is looking as good as ever. Some new powersets, or even new AT's if one dares to dream, would be totally awesome for i15. -
I would really like the invasion Zombies, the EB's are looking totally awesome.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I don't think I'm alone in this (but it's my opinion, so feel free to correct me) but I can't help feeling that the MA has left a lot of people feeling a bit "meh" about the game.
The Mission Architect was meant to be ground breaking - and it certainly has been. But I also think it's already shown that it's potentially game breaking too.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just plain disagree with pretty much everything above. I am starting to get a balance between normal mishing, MA and TF's.
[ QUOTE ]
1) The MA wasn't enough for a single issue. Given that it was meant to be part of other issues there should have been some nice shinies for those who had no interest in the MA. There sadly haven't been and with a blanket of silence re I15 it's been a disappointing issue for many.
[/ QUOTE ]
i14 was riddled with bugs that are still being squished, something you complain about, and yet you want them to have forced even more content in there? And i14 was recently released, i15 will come and information will come aswell.
[ QUOTE ]
2) It was released too early in terms of development and in terms of game play. In terms of development it had a few too many bugs. Some of which are requiring significant patching. In terms of development some exploits weren't discovered in time I guess but it's much better to fail to give than to give then take back. In other words, allowing people to use one type of critter in a mission then removing it because somebody's found an exploit is very poor form.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, more time in beta owuld have been nice, but then they would possibly have missed the timetable of #of issues per year and can you imagine the outrage that would bring?
Removing content that is possible to exploit is not poor form, it is the least bad of two bad choices. Remove it, fix it and then put it back in. The alternative would be to leave it in to be exploited while they are working on a fix, i know i would not hesitate if the choice was mine.
[ QUOTE ]
3) When the players ask for stuff, it's generally very eloquently expressed and well reasoned
[/ QUOTE ]
Hah! Good one
[ QUOTE ]
- and they've been asking for a major PVP fix for a long time and any changes that have been made really haven't worked in terms of game play or satisfying the players. Ok the "PVPers" aren't the majority of this game but this goes in stark contrast to when NC Soft first took over the IP of this game. Then there was a sea-change and they made strenuous efforts to give the players what they wanted. Now the pendulum has swung back the other way it seems to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't know what to say about this, i never asked for PvP changes and with the recent PvP changes (PvP-set IO's) PvP looks even more dead to me... But that is a whole other discussion.
[ QUOTE ]
4) We hear a lot about how much the Dev team has expanded. I'm sorry but I'm not seeing that. What I am seeing is the same number of issues per year but the last two have been buggy as hell. In terms of bugs, I13 was the worst since I7. I14 seems to be pretty similar.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im not sure more devs = less bugs, in fact like you pointed out that is apparently not the case.
[ QUOTE ]
1) Listen to the players a bit more. They are your greatest assets. We know you can because you have, but it seems like you've stopped recently.
[/ QUOTE ]
Apart from PvP, can you give any other example?
[ QUOTE ]
2) Communicate More! Generally speaking the devs are good at talking to the media and the US forums, but when it comes to talking to the EU they are as much use as a rubber duck in the sahara. We do deserve better comms from you guys.
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be nice yes.
[ QUOTE ]
3) When we say something's broken (such as PVP) it's not out of pure bloody mindedness. Sure you can't do everything we want in one fell swoop but there are areas of the game that need a LOT of attention: PVP, Boomtown & Dark Astoria are all potentially excellent resources for the game but are woefully under-used and yet could be very cost-effectively turned into shinies for the players and we've been saying it for bloody years! See point 1.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry but PvP in CoX has always been a big joke to me, about the only thing i would approve of when it comes to PvP would be to hire a new dev specificly for PvP with experience (as a dev) from some other PvP-oriented MMO. I just dont think the current team understands it and the less resources they spend on it the better, IMO.
Dark astoria, Boomtown... I would prefer villain side content before they even consider reworking (not even adding zones, reworking them) hero side content. I just think reworking two existing zones would be a lot of work for very little gain. -
[ QUOTE ]
[*]Boss mobs only scale down so much. An elite boss against a three man group is not an issue (although the gratuitous overuse of triggered ambushes from him can be). However an elite boss with a supporting group is going to wipe most solos.
[/ QUOTE ]
Almost all arcs have warnings in the description if they contain EB/AV, i have only had to abandon a select few arcs because i could not manage it.
[ QUOTE ]
[*]There is no way to tell which arcs are suitable for solos unless the mission creator has added something like "suitable for soloists" or "contains no EBs" in the freeform text -- and most authors don't.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe i just ignore the ones who dont explain that in the description but like i said, in my experience most arcs say in the description what kind of play they are intended for.
[ QUOTE ]
[*]Mission designers who've produced wonderful group arcs get slated by soloists because they're not soloable. As I wrote on the feedback section after ending a mission on day one "I'm a stalker. You have an EB, a Lieutenant and five minions in the first room. This is unsoloable, ONE STAR".
[/ QUOTE ]
If there was no warning in the mish description about EB's or being a hard arc, then yeah i can agree with the one star. If there was a warning and you ignored it or did not read it well then that is your fault. My arc's description says it is challenging for a full team and contains AV's, and yet i had one player rate me 1 star for not being solo-able. I basicly replied he was an [censored] for even trying...
Now i agree that the MA fits teamplay well exept for the fact that rewards are much much better solo, and so far i have had relatively little problems with arcs being to hard. My main Ice/Cold corr plays arcs on 4th diff and with little problems. On other toons i play on lower diff. The only advice i can give is dont just click play on the first arc that shows up, look around on the other pages, dont go just on ratings, always read the descriptions carefully and look at the level ranges of the arc. -
In the OP i linked to the wrong notes (pretty much the same, one was test day notes for monday the other live notes for tuesday), since i cant edit the post:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....part=1&vc=1 -
The way i did it was make a arbiter drone (level 54-54) spawn at the start when the final boss dies. This sets the whole missions level range to 54 and you never even see the level 54 critter.

Just wanted to say this dont seem to be working, or at least the ticket rates are still awful in teams. Full team, big mish (3rd in a arc) clearing everything including 6 AV's, Bonus after mish 37, total amount of tickets earned for mish mish = 70 tickets. Hardly an improvement...
*edit* 4th diff fighting freaks and custom AV's. -
Unslotted it heals 10% of you life, so roughly 20% slotted.
Might not sound much but when you have it fully slotted as part of your attack chain it is great, my current slotting:
Level 8: Siphon Life
(A) Touch of the Nictus - Heal/HitPoints/Regeneration/Recharge
(9) Numina's Convalescence - Heal/Recharge
(9) Touch of the Nictus - Accuracy/Healing
(11) Mako's Bite - Damage/Recharge
(11) Mako's Bite - Accuracy/Damage
(13) Mako's Bite - Damage/Endurance
Giving me:
26% EndDiscount
53% Accuracy
78% Damage
78% Heal
78% recharge. -
Huh, all this hate against MA. I love it to bits so far.
I have done 90% of my playing in teams and 90% of the arcs i have played has either been reccomended to me or been a Dev's Choice. In other words i have played very few awful arcs, out of 25 arcs i think i have only rated two arcs 1's, and most have gotten 4's and some 5's.
As for this love of stories in the arcs, when teaming i often dont even read the story but judge the mish on how it plays. Seriously, how many of you read the story of all the normal arcs out there? When playing like this it also becomes important that the gist of the story will be understood without reading through a wall of text since there aint time or energy to do that when teaming.
As such, quite often i vote based on completely different criteria from some others. I gave an arc a "3" because i felt it was repetitive and bland, later i found out that friend gave it a 5 because he said the story was really impressive. Likevise i can give an arc a rating 5 even if it has a simple story but plays really well with fun and interesting mish.
All in all, i guess what i am saying is that just because you feel that an arc with a 5 average is not worth it others obviously do since they rated it 5! In a system like this majority rules.
Also, if you play random arc after random arc it will seem like a huuuuuge wall of things to play, much of it bad. So rely on friends, SG's, chat channels or whatever community you can find to break things down and play arcs recommended by others. -
Small update from our side, they bug appears to happen if you have a full team, one DC's and you invite a new one. Might be because if you Dc you are still technicly on the team, if you then invite someone else that might be causing some issue.
Might be a coincidence but it has happened to us twice in this case. -
[ QUOTE ]
Bug 1: found with Blue Rabbit yday, repeated repeatedly today: Select mission go in, only to find some in the team went to another instance of the same mission. Funny, but not that serious I guess, unless you're on the 5th mission of a looong arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Happened to us a lot, a big pain. -
Okay this has happened to us 4-5 times already. We go along happily doing MA-mish in a big team, then when we enter the mish some (2-4 usually) instantly gets kicked from the team and stuck on the loading screen. So they wait until they get the DC-notifacation. Try to log in and after it loads they get "CoX have encountered an error and had to be closed" message and having to verify files.
They verify files, and log back in. Now when they enter the mish it starts getting weird. Instead of getting into the mish they log into thier own instance of the mish! Sometimes all of them in the same, sometimes totally alone.
All going out and back in wont solve it. Quitting or relogging wont solve it. The only thing that seems to work is kicking all exept one and that person then reinvites the rest.
Now this is an annoying bug, anyone encountered the same or would want to guess on why it happens?
And while i am at it, another bug: Player not being able to enter the MA mish (freshly logged in) and getting the error message saying he cant enter becasue he needs to finish his active mish first. -
I am usually up for LRSF but the day after i14 realese... Doubtful
-
Cold or Sonic both make me jump in joy.
FF, dark & Kin make me smile.
Emp makes me shake my head in disappointment. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, I'm not fully up on the LOTG recharge bonus, but I was udner the impression you can only stack the same recharge bonus 5 times, regardless of what set the bonus comes from?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, but iirc there are no sets that gives 7.5% recharge bonus. So 5 LotG like said earlier. -
Yes the few villain SF's are good but there are few of them.
No dont expect more to come, the spandex crowd would all burst out crying if the devs gave content to vill side only.
