The way i avoid conflict in pvp is by complimenting them on how well they fought. Admittedly can sound a bit sarcastic if you two hit them before they even know your there but saying something positive, even if its just something like "your power set gets really powerfull at higher lvl's" can lighten the mood and make the 'victim' feel a little less tempted to call you names. Of course there are those few.... ahhh bless bed time is only round the corner.

Yeah I try to compliment people on their "skills" where possible. Though some people do seem blind to any compliment you may give and just pick up on imagined insults. -
Its all down to how they are played, Ive been on a hero team(2 blasters,1 troller 1 defender) thats dominated an evening of play. A team of four heroes and we rocked not because our ATS were tougher but because the villains seemed incapable of communicating/working together.
Once a more experienced player started advising them the balance of power shifted dramaticly and we got nailed..Often.
Ive seen the same thing happen from the villains side too. -
Saddly non of my are chars are above 22 on union, but if you get bored and need a break from the pve grind, you can come to RV and go AFK so I can kill you some more
-
I never thought about pvp options when I posted..
In PvP the one power I never use is Sirens, and shockwave is mainly for stripping a MM of his minions(unless they're bubbled). The powers I use most are the two primary blast powers, Shout, screech and amplify.
In PvE (why did I put pvp? :P) Shockwave followed by Sirens call is a nice combo, allowing you to work your way through a mob with ease. -
Drop Howl, the others are too usefull.
Shockwave and sirens call both require a brain cell to use or you annoy yor team/render your own us of power pointless.
Shockwave is is a great escape button, and usefull for minion herding or tanker support. While the tank is keeping them all aggroed on him you can happily let rip with it knowing they will all just keep trying to hit the tanker, and all the time they are flying backwards is less damage the tank is getting hit by.
Sirens call is awesome, one of my fav powers along with DW and screech, its a life saver when solo or in small teams, and can save teams a lot of pain at high lvls too, as it can keep a fair few enemy out of action till the tank has room to keep them agroed on him.
Howl is the only power I dropped as I foudn its damage potentile dropped in comparrison to other powers (And I wanted to get BU to go with amplify).
I think the main thing to remember about sonics is that it is a very tactical set in some teams you may find that you end up not able to use a fair few powers due to AT power clash (curse those fire loons...Curse them!!!). -
I like my Merc/poison MM, but after seeing other mms in action I do have to say go for anything else but Mercs.
-
So far I would have to say Blaster.
Powersets Im not to sure about, I guess I will go with Sonic/Em as its is what my main and first char has. -

this is what i dont get? - everyone agrees that its every man/woman for themselves, so with so many people agreeing that windging is even more of an excuse to kill the hero/villain!
so this is basically: Heros saying that Villains are complaining.... and Villains are saying that Heros are complaining.

PvP in a nutshell
only thing i find worng is how its viable to tp foe into a mob with no intention to kill your opponent, since it ahs to happen multiple times to be classed as griefing
[/ QUOTE ]
Its no more or less viable than someone using KB to get people killed by mobs, which as more people learn to use KB against MMs will start happening a lot more as people realise that KB can be a deadly tool. -
See I dont think it should be balanced, I like the idea that a fully charged brute can drop into a group of squishies and destroy them, or that a buffer/debuffer can render a target useless or godlike.
Perhaps I should clarify that I dont think the game should be balanced towarsd individuals.
..
I expect to be perma held unless I have loads of purples, just as I expect to perma hold targets unless they have purples/protections.
In the end as long as a target can be taken down with team work then the game is fine -
Really the analogy to use would be a person sitting in their front room relaxing, when you arrive and start using their white leather couch as a toilet...Because you must be right, a couch must also be a toilet why else would it be so comfy.
I find it odd that you demand people respect your "rights" when you then call into the question the very character of those you appeal to.
I pvp a lot, and I like to think I am a considerate player....Certainly I have not started demanding people play the game "my way" or questioning their character.
Remember that by taking control of the turrets you are taking part in a pvp game, you are also making it harder for others to take those turrets (neutral turrets are easier to take than enemy turrets).
IF you dont want the reward, dont take the risk. -
All sounds good , any idea what times you lot can be found online? Freedom Flight is going through another dead phase, so unless Im pvping Ive got a number of free rp chars I dont get to use much

Anything that does 2 types of damage (and can do enough damage) is going to one shot you afaik.

Thats what I thought too, certainly most stalkers that hit my blaster usually kill him with ease.
But that is their role
Blapping is a mixed bag in pvp, sometimes I have good luck sometimes I dont, overall though my blaping only works if my stun attacks have worked. -
Hello and welcome
Another bit of advice when looking for rpers, is to check their team search comments or character info screens
There are also several rp global chat channles too. -
Ok Ive been toying around with making my cov bases enabled for base raids..But I had a question.
Is it just two teams allowed ( one defending one attacking) or both supergroups in their entirety (so up to 75 players each side)

I hate that animation

And the best thing is...You can make your allies vomit by rezing them -

I still think poison can be real good in PvP, it can top any debuff numbers dark has, as long as it hits which is where dark gets some headway with tar patch.. Dark just gets the AoE heal which so [censored] good with MMs its unbelievable and I think should be *cough* nerfed.. But poison is pretty much -everything (except -fly and -jump..) which I like so muchWeaken is like a reverse power boost and it doesnt end there..
I wish Id get my poison MM lvled some day..

I love poison in pvp, and have had some success with it in most the pvp zones (I missed sirens call with my MM), Its a lovely mix of debuffs and has good recharge speed too.
That and there is something funny about watching a hero stuck in goo vomiting as your minions kill em -
H-bomb Still disoriantated by his dimensional hop, returned to active hero duty in Faultline, after a couple of hours of activity he was stunned to find himself being detained by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) who were concerned about the levels of radiation he was releasing from his built in Rikti micro fusion reactor when fighting villains.
Thankfully the team he was with were allowed to leave the zone after decontamination procedures.. -
Just to re-edit my post and expand on my stance regarding the test server..
As I have not seen all the content yet and even now am still learning features of the game, I see no point in me using the test server to test the game for the devs....The last theing they need is me in their petitioning random stuff I think are bugs when they are WAI.
Im guessing you have to have a valid account to use the test server..so in theory I would have to pay to use it, if not ah well Ive learnt something new -
More pvp events for all lvls would be nice, as a "casual" pvp (Only 4+ hours per dayish in pvp) I would like to take part in more pvp events, but as I have no hero near lvl 50 (and point blank refuse to pay to use the test server) Im kinda left in the cold.
The few arena tournements I have been in were fun once we got past the random crashes and clunky system ,but in the end I found that I had a better pvp experience in the zones ( pointlessly easy wins are no fun for me :P).
The big SC event with Bridger and Rockjaw was ok..I guess..
I got a bit annoyed with the lag, but then so did everyone. -
Thanks guys
I was a bit worried that I might inflict granitesque slowness on my team :P
speed boost is my next to get power..Just glad the early 20s fly by -
Ok Ive just got one of my troller to lvl 22 and instead of taking speed boost I took ID instead. My reasoning being that the holds and slows in pvp are killers.
But how bad is the "slow" effect on it?
Is it something that can in fact pose a threat to my team/annoy the scappers ?
For pve I was not too bothered as speed is rarely an issue. -
Hihi.
So when shall we have another mass hunt, would be nice to get another huge hunt in before the end of November and if we have plenty of notice it will increase the odds of more people turning up -
I'll be there, unless Im moving house then.
I can provide a villain char too if the balance shifts too much. -
Sirens Call(Union server):
Was a good night tonight, my first forray into pvp with my lvl 20 tank. and had quite a bit of fun. Sure I couldnt hit anything but I managed to scrape up a few kills and provide a moving target for people
The villains were pretty much dominating the zone when I was there, they had numbers and my favourite combo of Brute+MM with swarms of stalkers as support.
Plenty of TP tennis between the villains and my team, the poor scrapper must of been getting air sick by the end of it
I just need to get SOs and flight now
