being branded a n00b in a pvp zone
[ QUOTE ]
Again I have been branded a (N00B, NEWBIE etc...) Just because i AS'ed him into the ground needless to say he wasnt a happy camper but the best part is when he called me a n00b i relpyed with i am lvl 28 not excatly a and i quote "NOT REALLY A NEW PLAYER" to his replay being n00b doesnt mean new player which has now left me confussed does any other pvp stalkers out there that get branded this or am i the only one
[/ QUOTE ]
You aren't branded or anything, people who moan like that are the real noobs. One method is to simply remove hero messages from options or something..
Quite true hammerfall as they are completley oblivious to the meaning of the word n00b and it's origins
Heroes: Phobos-, Protector-Bot, Shadow of Ra, Bionic Eye, Entropic Chaos, Strike-Freedom.
Villains: Necron Phobos, Khorne-Berzerker, Full Metal Panic, Smasher Devourer, Degrees Kelvin.

[Removed - Bridger]
#3: From Wikipedia:
"Newbs are simply newcomersnoob and n00b, on the other hand, generally mean someone who is obnoxious, annoying, or breaks the rules or cannot play effectively; whether they are actual newcomers or not is mostly irrelevant. Therefore, a noob may be someone who has been around for a long time but still engages in behavior that he or she should have learned is unacceptable. Noobs are generally confident in what they are doing, but in reality are annoying others. "Newb" is not necessarily an insulting word, but "noob" usually is. If someone makes an unintelligent comment on a forum or asks a question that even other newbies could answer then it is said that they are making a "noobish" comment or asking a "noobish" question."
(Emphasis mine...)
And couldn't that sentence be taken to mean that ALL stalkers are n00bs, since they're usually both confident and annoying? (at least in Sirens...)
I know but you can see were I am coming from the word that has lost all meaning due some ppl acturaly dont know the meaning is kinda ironic
btw will be posting new thread on stalkers more questions needing answering ^.^
I think you got abused by some poor delicate soul who entered a pvp zone for a reason other than pvping. I'm assuming he wanted you to let him go rather than beat him into a greasy spot. However, as you were doing nothing wrong and the aforementioned greasy spot shouldn't have been there if he wasn't prepared to be attacked by a passing villain, just add him to your friends list and chase him round till he gets the message. Gently though, you don't want to be accused of griefing...
Sorry, I just get annoyed when people become abusive when they are warned that they can be attacked. If I go into a pvp zone for other reasons I go at stupid o'clock in the morning after making sure its empty.
*hug icon for jummy* n00bs ftw in my book ^.^

Personally I despise terminology and I have really bad words to say about people who demand that words are used in correct context and form, and link wikipedia references.. Instead of concentrating on what the other person is actually saying.
What I wanted to say was don't worry about moaners and don't let them drive you away from PvP. Theres few enough people with correct attitude as is. ^^
I actually dont agree with the word especially coming from n00bs
More often i hear it used jokingly amongst friends or on people who are longtime players just to 'get' to them. If it 'gets' to you there is a problem. I tend to call people from the so called top sgs who usually call other people n00bs just to 'get' to them. I have n00b moments that i know i shouldnt of, but "everybody" does.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. I dislike trying to decipher nearly unreadable posts, whether the original poster has dyslexia or not is not really a factor. From what I could dissect, the OP was confused when a player told them a 'n00b' was not a 'new player'... the wikipedia quote is accurate and clarifies that point.
n00b != newb.
In well over a decade of using the 'net I've yet to see this contridicted... in IRC, chatrooms, game prompts, online forums or MMORPGs.
+ "newb" is a newbie, or new player.
+ "n00b" is an INSULT, and it's easy to see from that context why it was used. Assassin Strikes rarely result in recieving congratulatory messages from your victim.
As an aside, and on the dyslexia thing:
I've worked a fair bit with kids with learning disabilities and it's usually the ones with dyslexia that submit the clearest, most readable work. This is because they know that they're not likely to get it right first time and so spend more time checking their work before they submit it. My best friend through college had heavy dyslexia and we usually made him do our group coursework write-ups because he did a better job than we did.
"Dancing letters syndrome" does not prevent you from using the return key or a spell checker.

And you are perfectly free to feel this way.
I would, however, ask that you not criticise other posters' use of English on these boards. It serves no useful purpose, and frequently derails threads or leads to flaming.
Thanks.

Fair enough B.
Was mainly responding to Hammer's "really bad words to say" about people that link wikipedia.
Point's been made.

My usual reply when someone calls me a noob because i beat em in PvP is "so.. you just got beaten by a noob... how does that make YOU feel?" normally shuts em up just fine
"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"
Total Cat @Stagefright
I get called a n00b very, very frequently. My stock reply is "Yeah. A lot of dead heroes tell me that."
When he calls you a noob, ask him what he must be to be beaten by just a noob.
Be nice though, that really annoys them.

Beeing called a name in pvp is unavoidable unless you just sit there doing nothing. Then again, someone will get your bounty and be upset they cant kill you I guess.
Best thing to do when beeing called a name is hunt them down and kill them 3 or 4 more times, that really pisses some people off and its funny as hell
If more people remembered its about having fun and its just a game we would all be having alot more fun.
So to help them remember it's fun you set out to [censored] them off? I don't follow the logic here.

It's not THAT hard follow. More fun for ME.
If it wasn't for the whining and general verbal fighting I would never do PvP.

I usually talk to people and try to lighten the mood but if their first response is namecalling, 99 times out of a 100 its no point in trying to have a conversation.

ppl reacting like that to being defeated in PvP are just soar loosers imo. if they cant handle being defeated they shouldnt enter a PvP zone at all.
i PvP on occasion with my 50 scrapper (mainly in RV) and several times i've been called a noob for using my hit 'n' run technique (ss on, bu, que Golden Dragonfly and run like a mad man right next to my target) and i mean, so what? if they dont like it they can move along. They are in a PvP zone and so am i, thus i can use what ever means necessary (as long as it doesnt break the EULA ofc!) to get my kill. its as simple as that.
and when ppl use the word n00b, they dont mean it as "newb" (wich it is listed as its official meaning). it is a feeble attempt to make other players feel bad and imply that they *censor* at playing the game.. so, what should you do when someone calls you a n00b like this? first of all, dont bother saying something back or even caring about it, if they keep it up send a petition for harassment and put them on ignore then go on with your day
