That's pretty good especially if you that's what you get with all your market slots. I tend to sell the cheap stuff, as low as 3 mil per sale and as high as 15 mil, but I sell at least 10 of them almost everyday. I pick up about 50 - 100 mill each day.

    Mu Patron

My dom uses Surge of Power in SFs. It's particularly useful in ITFs Cysts. and the PC. I also use it to tank Statesman in LRSFs.

    My strategy is:
    - check that Dom is up or will be up
    - hit Surge of Power
    - attack like crazy
    - when Surge of Power blinks, eat 3 purples and orange
    - on crash, hit Dom to refill end bar

I have Surge of Power frankenslotted for resistance and recharge.
I like the pet Mu and it saved me during my pat arc against the goddess Hequat.

I confirm this with my own experience and I speed my tips too. Pick missions where you have to kill a boss, which for my ebil toons, a hero. I usually get a couple kill hero tips. Any tip that involves Longbow has good drops too.
If you can't get on an ITF, do the missions in Cim from Sis Arlia or that General guy near the fountain. Set for at least +1x8 if you can handle it.
For vills, Liberate TV gives good drops. My friend reports 1 shard per 2 mobs.

In addition to doing tips, (if you have Going Rogue), I suggest spending a bit of time crafting and selling on the market to build up a bit of cash.
    Example:
    1) 5 mins to check the market for crafted items that regularly sells. I usually look in Endurance Modification, Healing and To Hit Buffs. Let's assume that Eff Adaptor: EndMod sells for 5 mil.
    2) Check the corresponding recipe for the items. Let's assume that Eff Adaptor EndMod recipe lv 50 sells for 200k. Salvage for it will cost about 100k.
    3) Buy recipe + salvage for 300k. Craft cost of 500k.
    4) List crafted Eff Adaptor on market for 4 mil.
    5) If it sells for 4 mil, your profit is 4 mil - 800k - 400k = 2.8 mil.
    If it sells for 5 mil, your profit is 5 mil - 800k - 500k = 3.7 mil.
You have about 10 market slots, so if you are selling 10 crafted IOs for 5 mil each and all of them sell, you would've made 2.8 x 10 = 20.8 mil (or 3.7 x 10 = 37 mil with a 5 mil sell price).

It takes me about 10 mins to gather recipes and craft them. I try to keep recipe and salvage costs under 1 mil and target at least a 2 mil difference between cost and list price.

The caveat is that you have to wait for your stuff to sell. For me, it usually takes a day or two, but can be as short as 10 mins. It really depends on the number of people buying stuff.

You can do this with any toon, btw. The only requirement is a bit of inf to buy recipes, salvage and crafting. For some tips on building initial capital, check out the Market forums.

I admit that I do run AE from time to time on my Elec/Shield brute whenever a friend wants a few levels, for prestige or to kill time while waiting for someone. However, I prefer not to farm.

Question is, do several good rolls offset bad rolls? Organica ran an experiment over 30 rolls.

End inf: 2,336,380,651 (includes 3 other IOs sold after she reported final total)

    Per A-merit roll: 2,336,380,651 / 30 = 77,879,355

    1 Lotg 7.5 is 2 A-merits. As of today, selling for around 220 mil crafted. Subtracting cost of crafting: 220 - 4 - 1 = 215
    Lotg 7.5 per A-merit: 215 mil / 2 = 107 mil
This is the number to beat. Each A-merit random roll must generate a profit of at least 107 mil. Based on Organica's experiment, each roll generated an average profit of 78 mil or 107-78 = 29 mil less than a Lotg7.5.
Rolling random is only profitable when Lotg7.5 crafted dips down to:
    77,879,355 x 2 = 155,758,710.

What is the profit per recipe based on Organica's experiment? Each merit roll yields 5 recipes:
    77,879,355 / 5 = 15,575,871 profit per recipe

I doubt that a lot of recipes can generate this sort of return.

LotG 7.5 is not hard to find. I have some either crafted or recipe in lvls 50, 46 and 33. If you're interested in buying, feel free to send me a PM.
  7. Before global email, my lvl 50 MM would go to Mercy and offer free jetpacks to lowbies. To help them get to Grandville and buy the jetpack, I invite them to team so that they can use my base porter to Grandville.
I would also team with lvls 1-10. In one case, I responded to a leader's broadcast:
[Lowbie lead] lvl 9 team lf healer
[Me] /tell Lowbie lead, I'll go
[Lowbie lead] What level r u?
    [Me] 50
[Lowbie lead] I think ur too hi
[Me] I am lft here and I can heal

After I got hired on the team, I look for players with no vet badges. In between missions, I gave them 10 mill each.

Don't think that my ebil MM was being do-gooder by giving away infamy. In effect, I'm spreading ebil by I'm encouraging newer vills to go forth and do nefarious deeds.
  8. Let's see 4 IO tables to fill, ie, 400 IOs to craft...
If I allocate 30 hrs to craft in the next 16 days, that'll be 13 IOs/hr
    Need parts... recipes...
Ack! For the sake of greed...

During the weeks where the devs handed out respec tokens, I remember crafting a lot and postponing incarnate content. Sales were really good even for stuff that had been sitting unsold for a while and my base salvage stock was down to 1/3 capacity.

I've also encountered some french folks too. Anyway, c'mon over! Maybe me and my mates can drag you in an ITF or some nefarious scheme.
  10. I like the idea of increasing the salv bin max to 100 and allowing more salvage bins in the base. If the reason for keeping the limits to 30 and limiting the number of bins is to stock up the market, then the reason doesn't make sense. Salvage drops quite frequently and folks can get roll salvage in AE. Allowing bases to hold more salvage isn't gonna dry up the market. Lots of marketeers have shown that even with several toons buying up salvage for price manipulation, the effect only lasts for a few hours.

When I played Neverwinter nights, there was an item called the Bag of Holding which can hold around 10 swords or 5 axes. When an item is placed in the magic bag, it weighed 0 lbs, thus allowing the player to hold a lot of items. Then there's a Lesser Bag of Holding. 5 Lesser bags can be placed inside 1 bag of Holding, thus allowing the player to bring 10x5 swords.

If the magic based games have such a cool item, why can't we have a super storage unit? I mean, we're super powered folks, so why not have super stuff to store our loot?
  11. Ok, y'all got me psyched up to dust off my dom. So I'm inviting everyone to show your Dom support in all Dominator SFs on Freedom this Saturday, 1/15. Here's the sign up sheet.

If anyone would like to do something similar on their home server, please feel free to do so.

There has been a request for evening SFs because some people can't make it in the morning. I'm thinking of either ITF and/or LRSF. Please reply here if you are interested. It'll be between 6 PM - 11 PM Pacific time or 9 PM - 2 AM Eastern time.

    * Barracuda SF is excluded for obvious reasons. If someone wishes to do an all Dom Barr SF, by all means form it. I prefer not to participate.

Tough one... Most of the big SG coalies are full. My suggestion is to go to the SG registrar and look at the top 100 SGs. Note the leader's names of some that you like and email them about getting a coalition.

As for Douple XP weekend, I'll be using it to finally get several lowbies to 50. More Incarnate villains!
  15. Hi All,

I'm trying out Protector and am looking for a villain group to join. Yes, I did look at the villain group sticky thread, but when I saw the post dates of 2009, I figure I'll just ask and hope to get a reply from folks that are still playing.
I'm an avid SF addict and often leads teams. If you don't mind having me, please send a PM of when you'll be on and I'll try to log when you're on.

    Thanks!

I had this problem too on both my Nvidia cards. The only way I can get rid of it is to put CoH in windowed mode.
    Options->Graphics and Audio->Screen/UI = Windowed

The ATI cards dont appear to have this problem.

    Hope this works.

I would go with SoM or ThunderS to get the bonuses from the complete set also.
  18. My storage bin layout is organized by letter
    commons: [A-C][D-F][G-K][L-P][Q-S][T-Z]
    Rares: [A-D][E-M][N-R][S-Z]

When I get drops, I toss them in the appropriate bin. The maximum of number of a type of salvage is 5 so I don't flood the bin with 20 fortunes.
Here's where 2 accounts come in for crafting. The crafter is at the base while 2nd account is at BM. If any salvage is missing in the base, BM toon buys the amount needed plus 3. The extra 3 are put in the bins for future use. After going through the recipes, the BM toon trades the salvage to the crafting toon. I craft in the base until my enh tray is full. Then I put some on the market and play.
  19. Not much you can do about quitters. They don't like debt. It makes them feel like they're getting much less infamy than usual which doesn't make sense since lv 50s earn a lot and the debt is gone after logging off for a bit.
First time quit: I add a note to the player's name in my list
    2nd time quit: global ignore

Most of the time, I do SFs with a group of people that I know. Half the time, random folks just don't work out.

All right, I concede that your build didn't require all those purple sets or Lotg 7.5s. But how much did it cost you? I am guessing at least 1 billion to perma.

Just reading the posts from before make it sound like doms are great out of the box. However, there's itty bitty fine print:
only when perma dom, which costs a lot of infamy and will have to save to slot it.

I also have a dominator, but it's been shelved in favor of corruptors and brutes. I found corruptors cheapest to outfit and am using my corrs to fund my dom IOs even though my dom got to 50 before my corr.

    Speed TF's

I prefer speed TFs. Before, I wasn't careful about asking whether it was speed or not. One LGTF didn't even have any doms or holders for the hami. The team just wanted to farm shards.
Nowadays, I ask if the TF is speed. If not, I politely decline. In the 1.5 hrs it takes to kill all, I could have done other things in that hour, like do 5 tips, or market, building my base or crafting IOs on my toons.
Also, TFs lock the team which means you are obligated to see it to the end, which could be as long as two hours depending how slow it goes. I have limited time when I come home, so I don't want to be forced to play that one TF that long.
Some would say that speed TF isn't shard efficient. However, the TF reward choices include a component which is worth 4 shards. Assuming 3 other shard drops, a speed ITF completed at 25 mins is 4+3 = 7 shards/25 mins or 1 shard per 3.5 mins.
I've heard 10 shard drops in kill all ITFs. Assuming a complete time of 1.5 hrs, shard rate is 4+10 = 14 shards/90 mins or 1 shard per 6.4 mins.

    Perma Dom = 5 Purple IO sets + 5 LotG 7.5s

Assuming 1 purple IO recipe can be bought for 50 mil:
    1 crafted purple IO = 50 + 3 + 1 = 54 mil
    1 set = 54 x 6 = 324
    5 purple sets = 324 x 5 = 1,620,000,000 or 1.6 billion inf
    5 LotG7.5 crafted = (100 + 6 + 1) x 5 = 535 mill
    Total of: 2,155,000,000

Quick summary: with billions of inf.

  24. I play villains, so I slot at Lvl 25 or 28 to improve my performance in the Silver Mantis SF which I try to play at a goal of 1 merit/min, ie, finish Silver Mantis in 45 mins or less.
Because I want to do Silver Mantis even if I outlevel it, I slot common IOs or set IOs. If I can bag cheap sets on the market, I'll buy them. If not, I'll check the market for cheap crafted common IOs. Anything I don't find in the market, I craft myself.
Here's an interesting observation when I did a lvl 45 mission on my brute. I was on a team with another brute which most likely had SOs because his power info didn't list any bonuses. My lv 40 brute was slotted with cheap (yellow/uncommon) lv 25-30 set IOs. Up against arachnos, the SO brute went down but my brute managed to hold out until the rest of the team got back from the hospital.
Based on this observation, I recommend getting the yellow/uncommon sets if possible. The small bonuses do add up. If not, common IOs are a good alternative. Furthermore, it doesn't have to be a high level IO. Crafting cost scales with level as well as salvage requirements. I do suggest a minimum of lvl 25. For example, Positron's blast Accuracy/Damage lvl 25 uses a Strand of Fate which can be bought under 50k while PB lvl 26 uses Empowered sigil which costs 2 mill.

I don't think new players get the PD porter. Vanguard has a tailor (facemaker surgeon I think...) in their base. You can edit costumes there too.
