Farming Support
Willpower and Invunerability are good secondaries but not the greatest for farming (if that is what you are after). Typically, you want to look at armor sets that contain a damage aura of some sort. Sets like /Fire, /Elec and even Dark are good for this purpose. Of course, I would be remissed if I did not mention /SD since it contains Shield Charge.
ok cool! that makes alot of sense
i dont really want the character for anything other then income and salvage farming. so im not trying to invest a bunch into his powers by getting sets and such right now. I will most likely go with SS/Fire. This should be effective using Single origins slots?
Ive also never used SD. is the charge an AOE?
Just saying.

@Caucasiafro
So basically Farm tip mish's which if i remember right you can only do 5 a day that you get credit for. Sell the stuff i get from it that, or save it if its something i need.
Also im a returning player and i know you get merits from doing special tasks and such. Are there certain ones to look out for? Where exactly do i go for the merits i get. i see the merit vendors, but will any do for the good stuff?
thanks a bunch for the tips to guys
One last dumb question...
The tip mish's...i read the FAQ and it says they drop off all non critter 20+ mobs...but what exactly drops and how do you identify that you have one?

This is an extremely effective way of making inf in a relatively short time without farming and the tip missions are generally pretty good. Bronze rolls with AE tickets is the other way.
good luck with it and welcome back to the game
Wow thats some very helpful information about the Merits! thanks so much.
One question about merits...whats an easy way to get some? When i played the game many years ago i was a casual player in every sense. I never really payed attention to what any of it does. Are the merits only good for the exchange? or can you get good recipies for inventions somewhere? Do the vendors differ at all?
Also i was apart of a ghostyard run or something in sharkhead isles and i got a special merit for it. Whats to be done with these?
There prolly is a thread on all of this so feel free to just link me if its to much trouble.
I appreciate all the help, it makes it very welcoming and easy for returning players like me to pick it back up and stay with it.
This link may be helpful, talks about the alignment merit system:

Tips missions is the new farm. Just by reconfirming all 18 of my characters to the villain alignment (all solo), I picked up 6/7 purple and bundles of 10-100 mil rare recipe drops. Some of the tips missons can be annoying though if you're running on a higher difficulty. The characters I've had the most success in farming tips are WM/SD brute, SS/SR brute, and my Plant/Psi dom.
When running alignment missions for the purpose of getting merits, I tend to just turn it down to make it a little easy since the purpose isn't XP.

Normal merits can be earned from story arcs, Strike Forces and Task Forces, you can also head to Ouroboros and do older task force arcs, something like the Freakshow Wars, which i think is between about 30 -34 takes about an hour or so, is soloable and gives maybe 40 merits (i really can't remember exactly) this is good if you have say, 12 merits from previous arcs and want to boost it up to 50 so you can add 20 million and buy yourself a Hero/ villain merit. I think the general consensus is that normal merits are not worth trading with a merit vendor for something, as hero/ villain merits can buy recipes worth so much more.
As far as i know, all merit vendors offer the same stuff, according to your level.
I'm only offering this information because until recently, like 2 months ago, i was so poor it was ridiculous, i asked how to earn inf and was given similar advice, since then one of my characters has earned well over 2 billion and i've IO'd him out in ways i never thought possible.
One word of advice, invest time and inf to make inf. If you can be bothered crafting a recipe, if it's rare, chances are someone won't be bothered to invest the time and will pay for it, be patient for a few days, eventually someone will pay so long as you stay within a guide price. Don't be greedy, don't undersell and soon you'll be rolling in it.

Example:
1) 5 mins to check the market for crafted items that regularly sells. I usually look in Endurance Modification, Healing and To Hit Buffs. Let's assume that Eff Adaptor: EndMod sells for 5 mil.
2) Check the corresponding recipe for the items. Let's assume that Eff Adaptor EndMod recipe lv 50 sells for 200k. Salvage for it will cost about 100k.
3) Buy recipe + salvage for 300k. Craft cost of 500k.
4) List crafted Eff Adaptor on market for 4 mil.
5) If it sells for 4 mil, your profit is 4 mil - 800k - 400k = 2.8 mil.
If it sells for 5 mil, your profit is 5 mil - 800k - 500k = 3.7 mil.
You have about 10 market slots, so if you are selling 10 crafted IOs for 5 mil each and all of them sell, you would've made 2.8 x 10 = 20.8 mil (or 3.7 x 10 = 37 mil with a 5 mil sell price).
It takes me about 10 mins to gather recipes and craft them. I try to keep recipe and salvage costs under 1 mil and target at least a 2 mil difference between cost and list price.
The caveat is that you have to wait for your stuff to sell. For me, it usually takes a day or two, but can be as short as 10 mins. It really depends on the number of people buying stuff.
You can do this with any toon, btw. The only requirement is a bit of inf to buy recipes, salvage and crafting. For some tips on building initial capital, check out the Market forums.
I admit that I do run AE from time to time on my Elec/Shield brute whenever a friend wants a few levels, for prestige or to kill time while waiting for someone. However, I prefer not to farm.
In addition to doing tips, (if you have Going Rogue), I suggest spending a bit of time crafting and selling on the market to build up a bit of cash.

thanks for the info, thats good stuff
Awesome! thats a good idea. So it seems like the biggest time constraint is going to be me learning which recipies and materials are cheaper then the final product for profit. i have about 1.5 mil inf so far. Should i shoot for lvl 50 rec or does it not really even matter. Would you recomend i do this with lower lvl rec and build up my infamy then start dealing with the lvl 50 ones? Only bother with unique ones...which are orange?
thanks for the info, thats good stuff |

Here's a link to a post by Fury_Flechette, she goes from 0 inf to over a billion in a week and explains how to do it. All the information you need is in this post, it's lengthy but well worth the read.

Another good way to get some starting capitol is to sell your salvage that you have (and get). I tend to have ~1 million worth of salvage on most of my toon's by level 10. Some things are surprisingly sought after even if it's not a rare piece. Go through your salvage and see what it's worth and you'll get a feel for what some of the big 'winners' are when it comes to making a buck.

So ive always heard that Brutes can farm and collect resources better and faster then all other AT. Im trying to build my dominator and slot him out but i could use a better farm character.
I was thinking Super Str and Will or Inv. im looking for something that can be powerful and effective for farming mish's solo or with one other while using IO's. i see a hundred different build guides on the front page and i frankly dont want to try the different builds out to find what works.
What say the forums?
