Mu Patron

I don't see a lot of talk about it. I read through Lili's guide and from a sapping point of view, the AOE has -100%recovery, as does the PBAOE End drain.

In looking at stuff I was considering tryin it on my Elec/Psi. I currently have Ice Master for Sleet. However Mu looks like it has some fun stuff to try. 2 Powers with -recovery to help maintain flat lining END. Surge of Power also seems to be tempting on a dom. Since domination can instantly refill your end after it crashes.

Any even use Mu anymore? I see Fire, Ice, and Psi mastery as the goto sets more often then not. And it is really hard to argue against those choices.

Just lookin for some input, thanks in advance.

I chose the Mu powers on a dom before. Really, the only reason why you would pick the Mu patron is for the Mu Guardian or for endurance drain.

The Mu Guardian has mediocre damage and good recovery drain. It can also create it's own pet (Sentinel of Lightning) that has a decent single target heal and an EM pulse power that it can only use once every 45 seconds (games says 50 minutes but the sentinel only lives for 45 seconds), which has a -37.5 Endurance and -1000% regen. The Guardian has the added benefit of doing extra damage alongside of your continuous attacks, which is a benefit the Ancillary's don't grant.

The Mu have some other abilities. Power Sink if you run out of End a lot or want to rack up more end drain, and Surge of Power is a temporary invulnerability power with the nasty side-effect of nearly killing you after it's done. I personally avoided Surge of Power, since I tend to avoid playing one AT like another, with surge making me a 3 minute brute then a 20 second worthless. Most doms would rather just sleep the whole mob then take them out one at a time than go invincible and lock horns.

For an elec set, I would definitely recommend it. All in all, I do think the lack of talk and subsequent lack of use is because the Mu patron is rather unimpressive. Looks cool, though.

One thing about Surge of Power on any sort of Psi Assault Domi, if you're good at timing your Drain Psyche (just before the crash and hitting a few enemies) then it will basically let you recover from the crash within seconds. Of course you could also crash, get brawled immediately and die before the Regen has a chance to save you

I'm planning on Mu for my Elec/NRG but skipping Surge because of the crash. Powerboosted Power Sink coupled with Static Field. Yum.

Thanks for the input. I thought Surge of Power only flat lined your blue bar, not your green bar? Since in the game data it only shows -100% End.

You're right, it just nerfs the blue bar & recovery, doesn't affect your health at all.

My dom uses Surge of Power in SFs. It's particularly useful in ITFs Cysts. and the PC. I also use it to tank Statesman in LRSFs.

My strategy is:
- check that Dom is up or will be up
- hit Surge of Power
- attack like crazy
- when Surge of Power blinks, eat 3 purples and orange
- on crash, hit Dom to refill end bar

I have Surge of Power frankenslotted for resistance and recharge.
I like the pet Mu and it saved me during my pat arc against the goddess Hequat.

Ball Lightning and Power Sink don't look like they'll help that much on the -recovery front. According to City of Data, the effect only has a 30% chance of happening in the first place, and lasts for 4 seconds. Drain Psyche appears to be a much more effective tool for that job.

Only a 30% chance for 4 seconds, blah. Still sounds tempting for the Surge of Power and having a pet that is actually beneficial, even if for a short time. The gremlins leave much to be desired.

Thanks for the input.
