That only sucked because people are too damn lazy to play a pet class with pet controls. You know what sucks? Not having the ability to leave the Genin at range anymore. It's easy to use a Goto command to put them in melee........they stay in melee once in melee. What they don't do is stay at range if you put them at range.

The shurikens, especially once you can upgrade them to explosive, do underrated damage. The fact they won't stay back in range to use them as well anymore isn't a big deal.......nothing lives that long against Ninjas, anyhow.......but this is long perceived to be beneficial to melee users when it is not. Melee pet users lost control with this problem, just like everyone else.

The differences are tiny, and while not insignificant, most of them become easy to understand with just a small amount of work.

Your example, for instance.......it is easy to see, numerically, that there exists a difference in the size of the radius between the two ATs, or that the recharge value is different.

While looking at a guide for a dark defender may not shed light that masterminds are different, looking at such a guide and looking at the radius in game certainly does. Cross referencing guides is but one tool to use to learn how certain sets will play.

What it doesn't require is a dedicated Mastermind guide for a proliferated set. Before the actual numbers were available, that was the case, but it certainly is not anymore.
  5. I've seen this come up bugged before. Abandon it and get the tip again.

Your argument is that other people are even lazier than you?

Use the search button.........it's a helluva lot quicker than looking for a guide and doesn't require the guide writer to read your mind.

Good guides are very difficult to write. There's a damn good one being written on the defender forums right now, and it is taking him months to write it, and that's on just one powerset. Any guide really worth writing isn't going to be done in 30 minutes. Not even close.

The information is out there. Instead of waiting for a guide to be written for every possible combination, with every possible detail included, you could just take a very small amount of time and use the search button.

That's my advice to all new players: use the search button. No use waiting for someone else to catch your fish for you. If you can't learn to catch the fish yourself, then a genre such as an MMO, which is notoriously short on documentation, isn't the right one for you.

Lazy users that won't cross reference powersets with other ATs, won't use real numbers from within the game to check the data, don't check posted builds, and won't read existing threads in the AT forum for answers.
  11. Ding, ding, ding......we have a winnar!
  12. Maybe in the 3rd movie we can get something that resembles The World's Greatest Detective instead of a whiny little prat with a sore throat.

It just takes a little practice to know where that exact point is. It's not "hard" at all, but it takes actual effort on the users part, which can be rare for many.

I wouldn't play Storm without Hurricane, personally. It's an absolutely magnificent power.

If it knocked things in only one direction, Fireball would have to work the same way and only damage things in one direction. If you aim your Explosive Blast at an enemy at the front of the spawn, then it probably will knock stuff all away from you. If you aim at one in the back of the spawn it will probably send most of it toward you. It's just the difference between cones and targeted AoEs.

I wasn't going to return to this thread, but this part of the post deserves special mention so that players who are new to the sets do not get a very, very, very wrong idea.

That's because players always want to put "classes" into pre-configured notions. Blue side ATs don't particularly fit those ideas, but if you shove hard enough they can be made to appear as such.

It takes a lot more shoving to make Red side ATs fit that idea.

    We blamed both.

See, the Defender forum isn't so bad after all. Think I'll go have a cup of tea now, log on, and listen to the broadcasts of people who can't do a sewer run without a "healer and tank".

On strictly a team, you could just go afk the whole time and it wouldn't matter much. A lot of people only keep a pet or two out in teams, especially with the sets/situation you describe.

But to not even take them in the build..........that's a different story, altogether.

Yep. It's kinda like playing most FPS'es single player mode.........the game is built from the ground up to play one way, and therefore feels as such. When you play it the way it wasn't built to be played, it feels like failure.

For MMOs, almost all of them make PVP an extension of the PVE game, and that is generally going to lead to too many compromises and a lot of failure. If you want to do PVP, then do it right, and stop pretending games have PVP modes when the only thing PVP about them is they can be called as such on the back of the box.

Yes, the Jounin have a defense debuff, making it a great place to stash an Achilles Heel proc.

I have it 3 slotted with endredux, 2 slotted for recharge and use it every time it is up.

You can use it for stealth or to get a mob out of trouble, but it's primary usage is more damage. Most will use it on the Oni to get more damage on firebreath and Rain of Fire.

For tough single targets, I use it on one of the Jounin.

I consider it one of the big advantages of going Ninja.

I agree. I tend to play with people who almost embrace death.......I don't recall too many memories on easy peasy steamroll teams........but I have a lot of great ones where someone died!
