Arbiter Sands. Some elements of class, and wit, and genre-savvy to boot.
Worth mentioning. -
The aura mission, heroside, anyways, require three hunt missions, Freakshow, Rikti and Devouring Earth. All can be found in Crey's Folly, which is a level 30+ hazard zone.
-
Freaks:
Talos 20-30 zone
Terra Volta 24-30 HAZARD zone
Brickstown 30-40 zone
Crey's Folly 30-40 HAZARD zone
Don't recall seeing any Freaks in Independence Port... Tsoo, Council, Family, Devouring Earth, Giant Octopus...
Edited for spelling. Alas. -
I like Mako, despite being a blood-drenched psychopath, is relatively straightforward and honest.
Blue Battler's story, "The Conscious(sp?) of a King" really brought the Clockwork King into the realm of tragedy.
Runner Up: Requiem. He sent me a letter of explanation/apology(!) after a particular caper that had me swearing at my CRT.
Heroes? Jim Temblor. He persisted in a belief that his father was a hero when everybody remembered him as a villain, and he's making a go of it, despite a somewhat ditzy superhero girlfriend.
Manticore, as mentioned above. -
The devil is in the details.
Or the mission descriptions, in this case. -
I think I was on a team which immobilized Rommie, and used a repel effect to keep the healing Nictus just far enough away. Can't say 100% that was what was going on.

The forums can be fun in their own way.
I'm guessing finances are keeping you from scooping another rig to jump back into Paragon and the Rogue Isles. Any suggestions for heroes and villains on a budget?
I've got one! Solicit your friends for their old computer parts. It's a longshot, but you may get some usuable bits and pieces to cut the price of your next acquisition. -
What was the highest level you got to? It's easy to pick up a temporary flight power now, at level 5-6. Easily lasts into the 20s.
-
There is challenge, there is reward, there are fun and helpful people. I can't add much more to what has been already said, except that I've been here for 4.5 years, and have no plans to go elsewhere.
Soooo much has been added and improved since you left.
Watch for reactivation weekends, or start up a trial account.
If you remember your original account name and passwords, and have $20 to spare, you can fire up your old account (everything will still be there, except you may have rename someone)
Let us know what server and time you're planning to be on. Perhaps some folks would be willing to give you a bit of a tour. -
I applaud your honesty. 33 months of vet rewards would surely test my integrity.
-
You may wish to monitor your combat attributes, including your "Last Chance to Hit". This will give you some idea of Focused Accuracy is paying off.

From Dave the Barbarian:
Irmaplotz (Evil Princess): Oh, you know the usual stuff, unleashing zombie hordes, promoting suffering and misery, returning library books... late! -
Swift can be slotted with run speed or flight speed enhancements.
-
For comedy, I recommend "Saul Rubenstein's Discount Task Force" in the MA.
-
It's good to inform your team of of your self-rez/other-rez/Vengeance/Fallout abilities.
-
If you are serious about this suggestion, you should post it in the Suggestions and Ideas forum. The developers are more likely to see it there.

Okay, reversal time!
Guess we all ARE horrible team mates sometimes!
I was sidekicking a friend through the Freakspec, got smoked, and hit the base medical facilities without thinking, leaving a defender against a +7 Freak wave. Doh!
She survived, and we won the day. No thanks to me! -
When you say, "put a year into a toon" do you mean spend a year getting them purpled out?

Recent Favourite:
MA mission which had Cow custom critters, and four Lord Recluses as objectives
Dark Tanker who didn't turn on his toggles, and would complain about being one-shotted. When I suggested firing up the toggles, he turned on one, the AOE damage one. I further suggested he turn more on.
Granite Stone Tanker, team leader, who could survive Lord Recluse aggro, but would not use Taunt or Mudpots to keep attention on himself. His regular attacks didn't seem to keep Recluse's attention most of the time, so Recluse ran amok and trashed the rest of us.
Or, he'd continue to fight, run himself out of endurance, and run away to rest, and get smoked.
As much fun as it is trading horror stories of Mewbs, we should honestly give it a shot to teach them. When that lvl 42 Warshade asks where Peregrine Island is, tell them, straight out, honestly, politely, how to get there.
When you're on a team with people who don't seem to know how to use their powers, do what you can, within the limit of your frustration and tolerance, to inform them.
Undoubtedly, some of the subjects of this thread will become bored and leave Paragon, but some have the ability to learn, and enjoy the wonderful world we're a part of.
How about we do our best to extend our tolerance and help out the newcomers.
(Why do I feel like an after-school special?) -
What they have is Influence. What they don't have is a respec. Therefore, they are willing to pay for it.
Some people use their vet and earned respecs quite quickly. And 80M influence may be less "expensive" to them than ten real dollars. -
I'll add Rikti Ship Raids, and purpling-out your hero or villain.
Playing with friends, helping out new players, also keeps my 50s active. -
SG bases are one way. Use the storage bins to drop valuables, and have the poor character scoop them and sell them.
Having trusted friends act as the middleman is another. -
What is the name of the contact you are pointed to?
-
War Mace Set, 1-2, Knock opponent up into the air with Jawbreaker, then as they are lying on the ground, getting up, raise the mace high and drop it for Shatter!
Lotus Drops from Katana has some DOT after the initial damage, so if they have a sliver left, I patiently wait for them to bleed out, as they futiley claw at me one last time. -
Petless for Masterminds is, charitably speaking, a concept build. Rudely speaking, it's a gimp build.
For any Mastermind, your pets are your primary source of damage, and your primary source of damage mitigation (henchmen take the beats, rather than you, using the Bodyguard feature). I wouldn't recommend it starting out.
Tanks tend to survive by having high damage resistance/defense, as opposed to scrappers who survive by killing stuff first. Tanks can solo, but their damage output is lower than scrappers, so it tends to take longer, but is less risky.
