Who drops Respec Recipes?

According to Paragonwiki:
"As of Issue 11 characters are now able to earn Respec Recipes as rare drops from the enemy defeat recipe pools which, upon crafting the recipe, the character will receive a Free Respec as long as that character currently has no Free Respecs."
Are respec recipes like purple drops (i.e., they have a 1/5000 chance in dropping)? Or are all those respec recipes sold at WW the result of Respec TF completions in Terra Volta?

Just like Paragonwiki says, respec recipes are rare drops. When you complete the TV trial, you get a respec, not a respec recipe.

A respec recipe dropped on me while fighting level 49 nemesis troopers in a normal mission.

Guide to the types of Respecs

In short, the Respec Trials give "earned respecs" which can not be traded or sold.

The Respec Recipes you see on the market are very rare drops that happen from defeating foes that con green or higher. When you craft one, it turns into a 'freespec' on your character. See the guide linked above for more info.

Any enemy over level 10 can drop one. They do not come from anywhere else, you can't buy them with tickets or merits, they don't come as random rolls either.

You can either play until one drops, or buy one from WW, they go for anywhere from 10-30 million, averaging around 20.

You haven't priced these lately have you? I just sold one for 80M, which when I checked, was the lowest of the last 5 transactions (went up to 83ish M). I'm talking hero market here. I haven't priced them vill side lately.

Apparently they have gone up quite a bit since I last looked.

I opened this thread in hopes of someone crying about someone else dropping a respec recipe (Like deleting or throwing away).

I was going to laugh and be like, "I dunno who does that! What an idiot! I hope you filled them in on what they just did!"

Sadly, it is not what this thread turned out to be.

I recently saw these prices at WW and couldn't figure out what was going on? I mean, respecs are available as Vet rewards and Respec Missions, so they seem plentiful to me. Why would anyone pay so much for a respec?

What they have is Influence. What they don't have is a respec. Therefore, they are willing to pay for it.

Some people use their vet and earned respecs quite quickly. And 80M influence may be less "expensive" to them than ten real dollars.

Agreed. I was only providing ancedotal evidence that they can drop from a normal enemy in a normal mission. Unfortunately that is my only experience with respec recipes. I've only ever found the one.

I didn't know you could lose the crafting of the respec if you had a free respec sitting on the character. Boy, that would bite lol.

Actually I don't believe it's possible to craft a respec recipe if you have a freebie available. For the one I just sold, I saw a message on the respec that said I couldn't use it because of a freespec. I also don't think it was available to craft when I was at a crafting station.

Similar, but rarer, I think. I've gotten about 8 purples (which only drop from high level enemies) and only 2 respec recipes (which can drop from almost any enemy).

Since my personal experience is obviously a statistically valid sample, they must be 4 times rarer.

Purples have a 1 in 5000 chance of dropping from any critter.

Pool A has a 2.3%/5.3%/7.9%/100 or 0% chance of dropping for Minions/Lts./Bosses/Archvillains respectively (other classes do not give Pool A drops.)

But, for a Pool A, you have a one in however many recipes are in Pool A chance it will be a respec, and not one of the MANY other Pool A recipes whenever a Pool A is awarded.

First it has to roll to drop something, be it an inspiration, enhancement, salvage piece, or recipe. Then it has to roll to see WHAT it dropped. If it dropped a recipe it rolls for rarity. 7 times out of 10 you will get a generic IO, 2 times you will get an uncommon, 1 in 10 will be a rare. And then it rolls on the table of all the rares you could possibly get in your level range.

If you are fighting 47 or higher enemies 1 in every 500 rare rolls will be a purple (do the math, it works out to 1/5000) I'm guessing it's around 1/1000 for respec recipes.

I've gotten exactly 3 since IOs were introduced.

Incorrect.

All "pools", regardless if they be inspiration, salvage, enhancement, or any applicable recipe pools (for minions, they have two that we know of, if purples are their own that would make three pools for minions), are rolled for separately.

Otherwise, there would be no Quinfecta.

Oh, was unaware of that.

My post after that, with wildly inaccurate numbers because I made them all up, should still hold true.

How it can be true with wildly inaccurate numbers, you ask?

Don't take it so seriously, it was just an example

16 months of gameplay... and I haven't had a single respec recipe drop... IME, you have phenominally better odds at getting a purple drop than a respec recipe drop (even pre-I14).

I've gotten about 8 purples so far as well and yet not a single respec recipe. So my experience tells me they are infinitely rarer.

I am a nine month vet and had two respecs drop during the first seven months of gameplay on the same toon.
