  1. I was pretty hooked after the first encounter with the Ghouls. It's exactly the kind of chaos I enjoy diving into; A big war between two factions with me playing the part of Achilles.

Really enjoyed the missions, though I did feel a sense of repetition with the second character who decided to become a loyalist. I was expecting things to branch out a bit more, but I guess White still needed to explain glowing flowers to me either way, so whatever. Individually the missions have been a blast. The new textures are so nice I almost didn't realize I was in some of the older maps, and the "propaganda" they have all over is great to stumble over. I've never spent so much time looking at walls.

I also didn't realize to what extent that I am violent. I mean, I knew it was pretty bad; The greatest joy I had in Animal Crossing was bashing villagers over the head with a shovel and launching a holy war against forest with my Golden Axe of Wood Chopping. Initially I looked at the non-aggressive enemies as a neat way to allow enemies to fight without giving the feeling that the entire town was in a constant state of chaos like you get in Paragon City or the Isles. Then I started attacking some of them who were doing things I viewed as oppressive. Theeeen I kind've just started attacking everyone. Violent Intentions indeed.

I do find it kind of odd that the Resistance still likes to attack me despite working for them. I would gladly leave them alone, but... They started it. Or at least they were going too 'cause I didn't see no yellow box around them.

Sad? That's something to be proud of!
  3. Typically when building a controller I make it a priority to slot up some single target attack chain I can rely on for 50 levels. Since most Controller primaries only come with two of these I'll generally augment them with the veteran staffs to help fill out their attack chain, and ride on that until I can get a more reliable ST attack with the Epic Power Pool. Then I keep using the staffs because they're so awesome.

After that, I try to isolate what my "routine" control abilities are, and what my "oh ****" control powers are, and put a focus on the routine abilities. "Oh ****" powers would be those on a really long recharge with a high magnitude and long duration. You want to have your "routine" controls ready first because those are what you are going to be using every spawn, and not having them is going to cut into your performance and survivability way more than your "Oh ****" powers which should reserved for moments when things don't go according to plan.

In the early levels I'll try to take an abundance of powers that don't need much slotting but are still necessary to take so that I can focus on making a few key powers useful rather than having a lot of little sub par ones. The Fitness pool is very useful in this regard as the perquisites for Stamina don't really need any attention at all. Combat Jumping and Hover are the same. Hasten is good if you don't slot it and use it as an "oh crap" power to try to give yourself an edge in trickier situations, so long as you remember to eventually give it the attention it deserves once you are using SO's. Most of the Travel powers only really need one slot as well now, thanks to the changes in the base flight speed.

Things get a bit trickier around level 20+ when you're trying to fit in Stamina and your more general use powers. I usually like to take a low slot power directly after stamina to help boost my lv18 power. Generally though, you'll want to try to take a power that needs minimal attention after a power that needs a lot of attention; It doesn't do you a lot of good to have two powers that are good after only after they've reached their potential just sitting in your pool being useless.

level 30+ becomes a lot easier as you are now getting 3 slots a level instead of just 2. Now is a good time to start rounding out your attack chain with things like rech or endredux, or buff up your "oh ****" powers which may have needed to be neglected thus far.

Try to make your level 49 power something that isn't going to need many slots, as often the case is that your lv47 power will want some of the lv50 slots, and you're only going to have a maximum of 4 slots (1 base, 3 from lv50) to work with your level 49 power. You definitely don't want to be taking something like "Fireball" as your last attack.

Due to the diminishing returns rule that Enhancement Diversification places, the third application of the same enhancement isn't nearly as powerful in its' modification as the first two. Unless the power has a truly long recharge time (something in the ballpark of 200 seconds) it's usually wise to only two slot for recharge when slots are sparse, and come back to it later.

For instance, powers with a base recharge of 90s get reduced down to 63s with 1 RechRedux, 49 with another, but only 45 with the third. A four second decrease probably isn't worth another slot when one of your other powers is suffering.

This works for nearly all enhancements as well. Often I will leave my "attack" powers at four slots (2acc, 2dam) until I can come back to them to maximize their performance.

If you want AOE though play Elec or Spines
A number followed by a plus sign is meant to state something to the effect of: "this, and every number after it."

I say "41+" because I can't be **** to look up every single AOE in every single Epic Pool and list them, but general knowledge understands that they are unlocked at level 41 and can then be utilized thereafter.

Stating: "Go play the two sets that aren't broken" probably isn't the fix most Stalkers were hoping for.
  5. I solo with Kinetics all the time. I solo so much I don't even have speed boost.

    Sacrilege, I know.

DP/Kin is pretty easy. You drain "that guy" with transference, Siphon Speed on "that other guy", and then Fulcrum Shift the whole lot of them. After that you just go ******* with AOE's.
  6. 1) I must fight one spawn by myself on every team.

    2) After a period of 4 seconds, I must engage the spawn regardless of what my team is doing.
  7. The store is down. When the store is down, your slots go away. When the store comes back, you will get your slots back. This is because extra slots are tied to the store.

    Nobody robbed you.
  8. You guys are really over complicating this.

This issue is a problem so it's obviously not a slap in or on the back, as that is socially accepted as a good thing. We did not see it coming, so it cannot be a stab, or slap, in the face due to our eyes being placed upon our face, which is the organ we use to see.

Through the process of elimination, we can safely proclaim that this is, in fact, a stab in the back.
  9. Add my thank you as well.

It's probably silly, but I really like the exclamation mark help thingy that was added. I positioned it over my characters head so it's like he randomly gets sudden inspiration from a third party within his brain.

"You could probably jump over these trains"

    "WOAH, I totally can!" *woosh*

I also like how the seers understand that I *always* have hostile intentions. You clearly know your players.
  10. This thread needs to go look at the new Stalker Ancillary Pool(s).

    *Fireball*

"Is it fair that I have to wait 41+ levels to get a decent AOE though?"

    Probably not.
  11. I noticed after playing a bit that enemies in GR tend to wander around a lot more. I suppose it could be useful in that regard.
  12. Well now I'm too damn excited to play. Excuse me while I go run around my backyard for 30 minutes.
  13. Looking at the new Ancillary options for Stalkers, I'm not sure if I can make the claim that they lack AOE with a straight face anymore. Darkness Mastery houses a lot of little AOE's with some control effects that would probably feel right at home on a Stalker, and Blaze Mastery is offering Fire Ball and Melt Armour for us more adventurous types.

I could probably make the argument that I shouldn't have to wait until 41+ to start outfitting myself with AOE attacks, but I'm not really sure how far I could go with that in light of our sexy new overlords.
  14. Consume is the undisputed winner now. Even if you don't need to drain endurance right then, it's still useful for the endurance recovery now. With IO's, I imagine you can get away with slotting it up for damage/recharge/endrecovery and just use it whenever it is up, regardless of whether or not you really NEED it right then.

I still like Dark Consumption of course, but I can't imagine needing both. With the new Ancillary Pool options available to Brutes "lack of AOE" just flew out the window.
  15. First, I'll probably need to make new character slots.

Then, I'm remaking my namesake into a DB/WP Brute. He is inspired by "some series of video game", and I feel like the fury meter better represents his ability to Break beyond a predetermined Limit and perform fancy feats of valor.

I'm remaking my WP/SS Tank into a SS/WP Brute. While I respect the Tanker AT, its' play style just isn't my thing, and didn't really fit the characters' personality. I still liked the character though, so I wanted to keep her, and Brute seemed like the next obvious choice.

Finally, I'm remaking my Kin/Dark defender into a Fire/Kin Corrupter. I'll be painting the "Fire" purple and blue so it still looks "Dark". Mostly, I don't like the way Dark Blast and Kinetics play together. Dark Blast wants to be off in the shadows far away from its' opponent to open up its' cone powers, and Kin wants to be up close and personal to take advantage of its' enemy radius powers. The result was a lot of me running back and forth to try to take advantage of the sets' warring range preferences. Ultimately I got sick of having to move around so much. I went with Fire because it was one of the few powersets I could make look reasonable "Dark" enough, and because most of its' AOE's weren't utterly particular about where I was standing. That, and I felt like "Does More Damage" and "Makes More Damage" had some obvious synergy.

I'm definitely going to make an EVIL Warshade, if only so I can run around screaming "NICTUS!!!" in large, fancily coloured fonts.

I'll be making a deranged "leprechaun", who, after years in a Praetorian testing facility, has decided to do whatever he can to bring Praetoria to its' knees with his sparkly rainbow powers. He's actually just a normal guy of Irish descent and shorter stature who decided to talk too much and thus won an all involuntary free trip to one of Praetorias finest housing facilities. He'll likely be an Energy/Energy Blaster who goes villain.

I'm probably going to make a Kinetic Melee/Fiery Armor/Blaze Mastery scrapper, and am still toying with how I want his build to go. I like the idea of using Power Siphon and a series of small attacks to build up into giant mess of Fiery AOE death. I'm leaning on making him a Rogue Clockwork who was designed to be a walking power source. Mostly, I just want to use their costume, but I don't really know about Praetorian lore on Clockwork enough yet to know why its' possible for him to defy his master. I suppose that could be part of the mystery of his character or something.

I might check out Electric Control, but I don't really have a character in mind for it.
  16. The main reason we have aggro caps at all is because it was too easy for the Tanker to "herd" all of the enemies into a corner and then let the blasters unleash with AOE's, and allowing a Tankers to once again achieve that level of aggro would be like taking a step backwards.

We just barely got Burn back, let's not set it up for another 6 year nerf so soon, eh?

This game isn't designed so that the Tanker is holding all possible aggro at all times, else that renders a lot of what the "squishies" can do irrelevant.

After the addition of Bruising and the re-balance of Brutes, I feel that Tankers are fine.
  17. This is what I came up with after being distracted by "some television program" for the past hour. I'll probably toss it later. Mostly I wanted to get an idea for what the set was capable of. I could probably get more defense if I dropped the Fitness and Blaze Mastery pools in favor of Leadership, and used the Body Mastery's Physical Perfection to fill in for Stamina.

  18. I think I'm going to go with a Kinetic Melee/Fiery Aura/Blaze Mastery Scrapper. I like the idea of using Power Siphon and a series of quick attacks to build up into series of saturated AOE's with burn, fireball, and burst.
  19. What difficulty are you playing on? What were you looking for out of the Corrupter? It sounds like you wanted a more survivable blaster, in which case you probably picked the wrong secondary; Pain domination relies on being on a team for the majority of its' powers to reach full effect.
  20. Probably not going to do anything.

I like Freedom. I have an intense need to feel smart/better than everyone else, and Freedom let's me do that pretty easily.
  21. Why not just utilize the new morality feature and have them both in the same zone. Let your character decide if he wants to murder the hostages or save them, then have it count towards your characters' "morality".

We don't have to make zones like the RWZ where the story has to be convoluted to fit both factions anymore.
  22. I rather like DrMike2000's rendition of the idea. I could kind of see it working like a dialogue option so long as you had the correct power or even power set. So long as there where missions enough where all combination had something they could contribute.
  23. I like it. This seems like a worthy endeavor.
  24. Maybe the Hero Patrons need to stop being sticks in the mud and teach me their secrets.

    I wanna Zeus Punch too...
