I think conventional wisdom is that /rad is a good choice, since it has both debuffs and accelerate metabolism. For the primary, earth/ has control and fire/ has damage and imps.

I am also interested in answers to this question from those with level 50 (or higher) DM/FA Brutes. And for those who answer, what is your level of S/L defense?

Here is a fire/dark brute vs. scrapper thread:

What will be the effect of Issue 20 on the usefulness of particular ATs and powersets on PVE teams?

I come back to the idea that we need more inf sinks. What would be good inf sinks?
(1) Renting additional storage capacity. It would be worth more than 100 million inf per month to me to increase the capacity of storing mail to myself (a/k/a global storage) by 10. It would be worth more than 10 million inf per month to me to increase the capacity of a character to store recipes and IO's by 10.
(2) Prestigious rights. The idea of renting billboard space using an auction system has been raised several times. Also, would it be worth it to supergroups and costume contest sponsors to be able to buy fireworks displays and rent searchlights as part of their events? What about public bonfires of inf? What about renting an entourage to accompany your character in public places?
(3) Proto-inspirations. Given the need for 3 matching inspirations to combine into a needed inspiration, would players be willing to buy proto-inspirations that could be converted into any needed inspiration (or maybe just count as any type inspiration for purposes of combining 3 inpirations)? Especially given the current inflation, perhaps instead of a fixed price a certain number could be put on the market each day.
(4) Turbo boosters. Another luxury item could be turbo boosters to increase travel speeds outside of missions.
(5) Elite club. Create a clubhouse with a monthly membership fee. Give it at least one nifty exit location, such as near the hami raid entrance.
(6) Private dwelling. Allow a character to rent a dwelling with some storage capacity.
(7) Unused News Terminals. Convert the currently unused news terminals (or whatever those terminals were for) into classified advertising. The downside to this idea is that supergroups might stop spamming Atlas.
(8) Respec recipes -- in lieu of drops, sell a certain number on the market. -
I have never done a Patron Pool. Does the above simply mean I must stay with my team, or instead are there missions I am supposed to get done before we start tonight?

Wouldn't your attack chain still be full if you dropped Shadow Punch?
-
Quote:In theory Hasten would have had the same purpose of bringing up DC and Consume (and Soul Drain and Fiery Embrace) faster. I am still leveling up, so I don't have personal experience as to whether Hasten is really necessary in your final build. You will learn from your own experience whether or not DC and Consume come up often enough without Hasten.I had originally planned on Hasten when I first made the post, but I've found that I just don't need it for the attack chain. So I decided to pick up CJ instead for the extra defense and I also get another LotG 7.5% +Rchg with it. If there's another reason I should have kept Hasten that I'm not seeing I'm willing to reconsider. I just felt that having it wasn't necessary.
I don't use SM as part of the regular attack chain. I save it for when I have a triangle/diamond layout of enemies and I can hit 3-5 of them at once (which happens once a spawn or so; I've gotten pretty good at getting them lined up). If I can't line them up or get past that initial use I keep it out of the rotation.
I may have to pull a slot from Health to put into Stamina, but I went ahead and slotted a Rchg Alpha and I'll see what that does for me as far as bringing up DC and Consume faster. -
Mayor, thanks for posting your build. It gave me some ideas for my own build in progress. However, I'm curious as to why you slotted Shadow Punch with Siphon Insight. If it was merely for the 3.75% S/L bonus, you could get that with Kinetic Combats and save a slot. Or if instead it was for the sake of the To Hit Debuff, wouldn't you get a greater effect by swapping out Shadow Punch for Touch of Fear?

VelRahn,
Why did you drop Hasten?
Do you actually use Shadow Maul in your attack chain? I would have thought with all of your other attacks, that you wouldn't have time for Shadow Maul's long animation.
If you are gasping for Endurance, why don't you add another slot to Stamina?
Here is link to the Alpha Slot page:

I don't know the answer to your question about endurance, but notice that Spiritual Radial will also boost the healing you get from Healing Flames and Siphon Life. -
Great idea. Sign me up for Ragnar Fire Eye (fire/ice blaster).

Increasing supply would not "keep inflation going". All other things being equal, greater supply would lead to lower prices, since sellers would compete with each other by lowering prices to make sales.
-
Differences in the ancillary/epic power pools. For example, in the Soul Mastery Pool, Brutes get Darkest Night while Scrappers get Shadow Meld.

I am no expert, so take my comments with a grain of salt.
Did you intentionally skip your travel power?
Did you consider squeezing the Kismet unique into Combat Jumping?
You 4-slot Resist Elements but 1-slot Resist Energies. Don't you want to reverse this, since energy damage is more common? Or are you compensating for your lower F/C defense?
Why do you put Touch of Death in Concentrated Strike? You don't need its S/L bonus since your total S/L bonus is 47% which is 2% over the soft cap. What would you think of replacing it with a set of Mako's Bite -- in addition to better buff numbers, Mako's E/N bonus would allow you to reduce the number the number of slots in Maneuvers since you would no longer need the E/N bonus from the 6th Red Fortune. -
Several posters mentioned running the invention tutorial. I always skip this and haven't noticed any ill effects. What do you gain by running the tutorial so that you need it for every character?

It seems to me that there has been substantial price inflation for the past few months. However, I remember a comment made on this forum a while ago that prices tend to follow a pattern of rising every time a big new something happens in the game to attract more players/playtime, and then falling as the game grows stale for some players.
My question is whether you think that substantial price inflation will continue throughout 2011, or will prices reach a plateau or even fall? -
Note that using A merits for purples is not a good deal. If you save enough A merits for a purple, you might as well save for a super-expensive pvp recipe like the Glad +3% proc.

VelRahn, remember in Mids to always check the Sets & Bonuses Window for your build. In this case, it shows that you violated the Rule of 5 (i.e. won't get credit for): (i) one 5% recharge and (ii) two 1.125% HP bonuses.
-
I am no expert, but since I've been working on my own DM/FA build I will make some comments for whatever they may be worth.
Did you consider 4-slotting Kinetic Combats into your attacks for the 3.75% S/L bonuses?
Instead of Soul Tentacles, did you consider taking Gloom and 5-slotting it with Siphon Insight for the 3.75% S/L bonus?
I don't know if this would be within your budget, but Absolute Amazement is a relatively cheap purple set, and 5 slotting it into Rise of the Phoenix would give you a 10% recharge bonus.
I would like to hear from players with experience playing level 50 DM/FA, but in the abstract it seems to me that it may be overkill to heavily slot Dark Consumption and Consume, and that those slots could be better used elsewhere.
In my build I included a couple of Touch of the Nictus to increase the healing of Siphon Life. I could be wrong, but I think that the Regenerative Tissue proc would be better slotted in Health so that it continually operates.
