Stupid server status page lying! Though maintenance to remove the old updater was advertised, I didn't see anything about it's length.
  2. Ugh...Ard Boyz weekend for those that play Warhammer. That's going to take a large chunk out of Saturday for me. This weekend was perfect too.

    Coincidence?

My Jesus saw the future and walked easily into a death he didn't fear.

The Emperor was too stupid and blinded by pride to see the signs of what Horus was doing, even after he was warned by Magnus. He deserves the 10000 years of corpse rot sitting on a toilet.

Hmm...lose Praetoria and power customization...but have I12 PVP (and hopefully the destroyed community) back...that's a tough call...
  5. I've opened a support ticket. When you have a representative of the game whose post has still not changed telling us that the price on the online store is the one that is NOT at 50% off, and then get a credit card charge for the displayed price from the store that's a very misleading sales tactic. It's amounts to a bait and switch (telling us it will be one price, and charging another), which as far as I know is illegal here in the US.

Not to mention the article that is still on the front page of the website has the same text:

    Quote:
Please note that the price in the in-game store will not reflect the actual sale price; however, once the transaction goes through the price will be discounted 50%.

Another way of putting it, PvP rules made sense.

"Oh hey this cold corruptor just beat me. Why? hmmm well he hit me with infrigidate, benumb, and then held me and then I got hit with heatloss. My recharge was at like negative 300% and I couldn't do anything. That makes sense, he's able to debuff my recharge and make all of the secondary effects of my powers be a lot less powerful. Maybe instead of using a toon so dependent on hold/recharge (controller/dominator) I should try something else. Or maybe I can use a different strategy and put more pressure on him with damage, perhaps an SR scrapper with high defense."

I13PvP - lolrules and lol powers. JUST SPAM DAMAGE. MOAR SHARKS, FOSSILIZE, CONCENTRATED STRIKE!!! GO GO GO!!!

"Forget using powers like energy transfer and total focus. I'll just spam Sharks from Hide which does more damage than ET and TF. Even though ET and TF are powers from my PRIMARY and Sharks is just a PATRON power. Oh and when I get bored of that, I'll switch to my Kinetic Melee scrapper and just spam Concentrated Strike, which does just as much damage as Assassin's strike. I won't bother with any other powers cause CS does the most damage. When that gets tiresome, I'll jump on my SS/Fire Tanker, and throw fossilize/stone prison which do more damage than Super Strength + Rage."
I find myself in total agreement about what I liked best.

I do plan on spending some time this weekend reviewing the thread and having discussion with you about it. Unfortunately this week is absolutely insanely busy.

Thanks to everyone for the continued constructive discussion and feedback and I'll speak with you again soon.

We can understand that, at least most of us. And look forward to hearing the feedback. I think what I'm getting from the collective posts is that we just want an honest lay out from the Development standpoint of what the intentions, and goals for PVP are going forward. It seems like the last time we got that the bringer of those honest intentions coincidently resigned 8 days later.

  10. My favorite times in PVP were in the early days of City of Villains. Back before IOs, and before accolades working at all levels when I worked to get them before 30 so I could have them in Siren's Call. I used to feel super, even when I was defeated, because all of my powers worked. I didn't get slowed down when I wanted to heal a team mate on my Empath. The freedom to move about and have high paced, high adrenaline battles, as well as evading when superior numbers were brought to bear, was a big part of why that early experience was so fun.

It seems as our characters became more powerful though, development did everything they could to stifle that power in PVP. Instead of making those fast paced battles a selling part of PVP, they did the opposite and removed them from the game.

I played on Champion back during that time, and there was almost always something going on in one of the PVP zones. At any given time I could enter Siren's, or Warburg, or RV and find at least 2-3 opponents, and about the same team mates (even very late at night). I've accepted that those days are done now, and that I13 really did drive out the last few holdouts on my global friends list that were a part of that "golden age" of PVP in the game, hopefully when it does get another pass, it's going to get some real attention, and not a major shakeup and then ignored for 2-3 years.
  11. Didn't know the Knights, but probably grouped with at least one of them over the years, always sad to see a long time group go out, but it's the way of things, glad they're making the decision to end it and not draw it out if that's the will of the group.
  12. Forgot to post notice last night, bidding ended. Iturna won.
  13. One available, recipe form. Home server is Virtue, prefer to do it face to face. Starting the bidding at 3 Billion, I'll keep it open til Sunday night, or til it hits some arbitrary number that I take the offer.

    @Derek for in game communication.
  14. The Hami-Os are really the only thing that stands out as expensive to me. Each one is running at least 200 million on the last 5 bids (with an oddball 62 million on a Synthetic Ribo), the rest can be had for less than 300 million total. So you're looking at 1.4-1.5 billion for that build.

    Hell yes.
As someone in the process of doing this (4 more days to go), I can tell you that it's a lot more work and time than people make it out to be. If I had to do it over again, I certainly wouldn't. I started with nearly 500 merits. After they ran out, it became more of a chore, running either Ouro or TFs each day to get my hero merit.

While some people, like myself, are patient enough to do the required farming, there are 99% more that aren't, and will pay the billions for it. This is THE pvp recipe that a lot of builds want. Couple it with the relative rarity of PVP drops overall (I've never seen one drop) and the very low chance of getting a specific one, and it just adds to the cost that people are willing to pay. Blame the sellers for these costs all you want, but the real blame lies with the Devs for knowing it's a flawed system and perpetuating 20 days of farming as the best possible solution.
  16. Talos is full of places that are great. That said many of my characters prefer King's Row rooftops.

  18. My favorite hero used to be Cyclops, however, ever since the Grant Morrison run on X-Men, I've completely hated every direction they've sent him in (much like my feelings on the direction of a lot of the Marvel U these days).

I'm not sure I even have a favorite superhero anymore.

As to supervillains, Mr. Rictus from Wanted is hands down my favorite. He's everything I like about any villain rolled into one, and then kicked up about 400 notches.
  19. Revealing your identity to the world is part of the requirement for joining the Phalanx. Statesman feels that this policy of being completely open and transparent about all things helps inspire confidence in the Phalanx and their motives.
  20. I've played both WP and INV on a brute, Invuln to the 30s, and WP all the way to 50. I will definitely say that I enjoy(ed) the ride on a WP brute more than I do Invuln. The +HP is only part of it. Quick Recovery is a huge part of why I like the set so much, as a brute, my blue bar is important. More blue bar equals more hitting things equals more rage equals more things going down quicker. Invuln as a secondary has always felt more squishy to me. And really it's been sort of eclipsed by Electric Armor as the "resist" set on a brute with it only being 10% less S/L resist (and a lot better exotic resists, including psy) with basic 3 SO slotting. Invuln was buffed a few issues back, but it didn't bring it close at least in my opinion, to bridging that gap. If you're going to commit the Inf to IO it out by all means, you can't go wrong with either set, as both will perform well. I just feel WP does things better right out of the box, and Invuln is stuck playing 2nd fiddle in the "resist" set category.

All of that said, I've got a level 50 Claws/SR brute that has been one of my favorite characters throughout the journey to 50. It may not have been an easy one, but once I IOed him out in the 30s, he was pretty much unstoppable against anything that wasn't purple.
  21. I'd like energy transfer to have a one handed animation again. The increased animation time doesn't bother me so much as changing that very cool, very brutal punch. Barring that, I would like to be able to give it the Eagles Claw animation. Or really any attack from Energy Melee to be able to be changed to kicks.

I think that adding in kick animations, even if they're existing ones from MA to the options on some of the other sets would creates less of a need for the often asked for street fighting type of set.

Also, I'd like hasten to have the FX in PVP Only option.

Probably not the scope of the thread, but power customization for Ancillary and Patron pools please. I want my Mu Lightning to match my Electric Melee, etc.
  22. Same boat, after seeing the speed they're done when paid for, and the speed they were done during the holiday season there has to be something wonky going on as I'm now on hour 20 of waiting for a switch.

    holy monkeynuts!

As one of the two most active servers I imagine that until people get their fill of CoH again this will be the norm.

*hopes and prays it's Freedom that gets the influx from low pop servers and not us*
  24. I think this week is to get the SG going and all the invites out. Should be fun.
  25. For names I like the Official Caped Heroes Organization.

As to Origin, I've always been a fan of the Justice League and Avengers style of origin. Individuals heroes that come from many different walks of life and background, all with their own individual adventures, but ready to band together when a threat arises that is too great for any one of them to overcome alone.

I think that sort of the fits with the purpose.
