There are obviously too many people in this game. The servers will eventually just crash and all of our data will be gone! I'm going to say something negative no matter what happens because I'm a DOOOOM spreader!

My Bots/Traps did indeed take Aid Other over Repair. It's a much more effective heal all around.
Don't forget your Triage Beacon! (Triangle of Death). It'll keep your bots in tip-top shape after they soak the alpha of a tough spawn. -

thats great and all but considering that it's even remotely possible makes it broken. Sure, I can proably soak up 5% more damage due to my resistance stacked with my softcapped (or near softcapped) defense and I have taunt so i'm still going to be tanking for a team, but your a blaster, you absorb nearly as much as I do AND deal massive damage very quickly, thus killing enemies that are attmepting to harm you, thus reducing your net incoming dps: it's magetanking. Something the devs first found out was bad. They apparently don't think so anymore.
If you got a blaster and have softcapped defense, I don't envy you. But do you think it's fair that you, as a blaster, are a better tanker than a tanker?
It's magetanking. There is no simpler way to put it. Hopefully CoH2 won't be so horribly unbalanced in it's endgame content. From 1-49 the game is fun and fairly balanced. Once you hit 50 and start IOing your chracters out, you start to see that many archetypes are unnecessary on some of the toughest 'challenges' in the game. -

It's good to know that a blaster /w softcapped defenses is a better damage soaker than my Elec/Elec tank (rolls eyes). Game is broken in this regard.
Can we PLEASE get a fix to this? Seriously. -

My animation change/alternate 'yes list:
-Blaze -or- Cosmic Burst.
-Eviscerate
-Flurry/Shadow Maul (specifically 1-armed flurry of punches)
-All melee Weapons. They should all have alternate animations.
-Dark Melee kicks perhaps?
-Elemental Melee sets with weapons should have the option of all attacks having or not having the weapon. Fire Sword/Ice Sword/Stone Hammer.
-Granite Armor, alternate form?
-All Stalker Assassination attacks need a new animation.
-Dominator Domination color change? (please)

Just throwing this out there: Can Scrapper's AAO Not generate more aggro than my Elec Tanker's Taunt Aura?
Shields a great set, it really just needs to be toned down.
Also, can SR's Elude give free placate? that would be neat. -

No seriously, wait until GR hits, then get a Fire/Dark (or Rad/Dark) corr for your duo. This way, you have the useful controller and debuff of Dark complimenting Ill/Rad's already healthy supply of both. Fire or Rad will provide more AoE damage. Pick which ever one you want. -
This is why I hate the IO bonuses. the power of the IO bonuses have really skewed (screwed more likely) many powersets. Many powersets that were perfectly balanced around their defenses, weaknesses and abilities but IO sets have changed their effectiveness drastically.
IO sets weren't a bad idea, but the way they were implemented was, they weren't balanced. gaining 3.13 defense to melee is huge. Thats 6.26% melee mitigation from a minion of equal level from a single IO set.
I havent planned out a whining rant for this one but ill give an example so for all 4 people that read my posts don't have to read a whole lot:
A set that gives resistance gives upwards of 2-3%
A set that gives defense can go as high as 3.75%
But whats the problem? The defense bonuses are positional, thus they affect every damage type that is in that position. The ressitance sets only give resistance to that damage type, which may or may not be common in the enemy your fighting at the moment.
Stacking resistance from IO sets is impossible to do with all resistances and the bonuses are so low that it would be a waste of time anyway.
Stacking Defense is very easy considering how many sets have '+3.75% position defense' which is not only easy to come by but is astronomically better for surviveability when conpared to Resistance as a whole.
Positional resistance will never happen but could we possibly get sets that give 'spectrum resistance' that cover lethal,smash,cold,fire,NRG,NNRG? The bonuses dont have to be numerically equal to defense but it would be nice to have the option to stack resistances on top of my typed-defense characters (poor poor energy aura and ice armor) -

My traps/sonic defender would drop the traps and nuke every single time it was up if that was implemented. Just doesn't need a lot of endurance and would net the team -20 resistance to all and a 15 second mag 3 stun every 3 minutes slotted.
Your own Kinetic energy can already Siphon>FS>nuke>blue>transferrance and that's out of the box. A /dark nuke is the biggest to hit buff in the game, rad blast nuke is the biggest def debuff in the game. Energy is kind of lack luster in this respect however.
Personally, I don't care either way if this was implemented or not. It wouldn't change much other than some more people actually taking and using their nukes.
Does anyone actually use their nuke for the debuff? Or a more accurate question: do you use your nuke at the right timing to use the debuff? Do you slot to enhance the debuff portion?
So far Defender nukes do less damage that a blasters. Thisi s normal and I wouldn't change that. But it's implied use isn't part of the defender's overall role: buff/debuff/heal/DEFEND.
I'd just like to see some theorycraft about how this would change the way defenders are played on teams if at all. I doubt it would change much but new things and ways of play are fun.

A stealth power will reduce your over all threat thus it'll be tougher to tank for you.
second defense doesn't stack type-wise.
So 25% melee does NOT add with 15% lethal from a lethal, melee attack. It will be the highest value, thus 25%.
As an ice tanker, I suggest focusing on +Regen. Getting typed defense is tougher than getting positional.
I'm not a major expert on ice armor but +Regen is a same bet. As your enemies are not going to hit you often and are rarely even going to get the chance due to all the -recharge.
Also, isn't a stealth power's AoE defense reduced if your in combat? -

I always wondered why Defender Nukes never received the same bonus from Vigilance as other powers. Yeah they get the endurance discount but that's a moot point when your drained of all your endurance afterwards.
I wonder how differently defenders would operate if Vigilance reduced the end drain after the nuke is launched. If Vigilance is at 45% then your nuke only reduces your end by 55 (100 - 45) during the crash. You'd still lose recovery but you'd still be operational too.
Brainstorming on the matter, this would reward defenders for using their nukes as 'oh noez' buttons when the team is near death (when vigilance is more effective) and actually give them a reason for taking such a counter productive power.
I play a kin/energy defender so my nuke is always capped damage due to fulcrum shift. I don't want to use it all the time or else im approaching blaster or scrapper spike damage because it's damage is still in the 'over-kill' range. but perhaps if this was implemented, Defender nukes could be reworked damage and recharge wise to tie in with vigilance. Such as a lower damage and lower recharge or possibly just a higher recharge so blasters don't feel like sad pandas?
I didn't put this in the suggestions forum because I honestly don't have opinion either way. It would essentially just be useful only on Teams where Vigilance's end discount is around so Soloing is still painful for certain sets such as Sonic or FF. But it would help push defenders in another direction than corruptors and help them feel different.. we all wanna be special.
I'd like to hear more opinions on this. I like my nuke. But thats probably because I'm always at my damage maximum. I know some don't like their nuke because it's weak(er than blasters) and crashes their endurance. That could kill their team if they are unable to heal or rebubble etc so it's not a good idea to nuke a spawn.

Tankers didn't lose anything dude. Why are you complaining about a free buff? It's not like they said 'you'll get this nifty new toy but you'll lose 30% of X'.
Complaining about a free buff with no counter balance is like complaining about free icecream. go cry in a corner while secretly still eating your free ice cream because honestly, nobody cares. -
I'm suprised they didn't pull the 'cottage' rule on this. There are many other powers that are argueably in the same position or on the opposite end of the spectrum: Too weak to be viable.
Can we get a look at phase powers now please?

It isn't so 'doooom'y anymore due to the vigilance change but it isn't nearly enough sadly.
Deacon makes a nice point but you have to take inter consideration how much defense your team even need? if your playing with a lot of scrappers then that defender defense buff really isn't going to change much considering they already have mitigation powers. Not to mention IO set bonuses that people stack a lot. I'm not saying everyone has their defense soft capped, but most people already have 'some' defense and/or resistance. Squishy classes really shouldn't care about defense anyway as they aren't attacked that often anyway unless your on a team of 7 blasters +you.
Remember, "Death is the ultimate Debuff" and scourge gets you there sooner than later, whether in a group or not.
Also, Scourge stacks with -res and +dmg much better.
a defender's energy blast does 65 damage
with -50% resistance it does 97.5 damage
a corruptors energy blast does 75 damage (due to a higher multiplier)
with -50% resistance it does 112.5 damage.
with scourge it does 225 damage.
Corruptor attacks nautrally do more damage. But with -resistance or +damage stacked, it starts to scale up much higher than a Defender's damage.
