Quote:I have been where you are. So glad I finally found a job. Now I'm limited in play time by my desire to get money so I can eat. And then play...It's not just this game that I am seeking to remove my accounts from. Yes, I do sit at my desk too many hours, I do have health issues such as my wrists, from playing. Plus other anger management issues, the list goes on.
I just love how game companies, make it all to easy to sign up and start playing, but the moment you get hooked, and the player themselves actually see's their habits as a problem. They are reluctant, or do not build in the options to do such a task. I hardly believe they do not have the power to remove accounts. I am seeking other means to go about dealing with this problem. Having them removed is just one goal of mine.
I also disagree with your opinion about it being the "not the worst addiction to have" as it is a psychological addiction. Plus it's considered socially acceptable, it seems alot of people see games, as an ok thing to do.
"Addiction is one of the most costly public health problems in the United States. It is a progressive syndrome, which means that it increases in severity over time unless it is treated." -http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com
"Social learning is considered the most important single factor in addiction. It includes patterns of use in the addict's family or subculture, peer pressure, and advertising or media influence." -http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com
The only one who can do anything about this problem is you. When you're feeling stronger, ask someone in real life to help you step away from the computer. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, get out of your comfort zone and do it anyway.
You also might try Catholic Social Services if you're in the US. They can assist on your ability to pay. -
If you're patient, you can wait until the server resets, after next maintenance, I'd expect.

Sorry, I am apparently mistaken, and will not likely be around.

Quote:My sincere apologies, folks. I'm looking at my post, and even I can't figure out why I posted it here....I'm still trying to figure out where this ties into badges in some way...
I should have probably left the forums for a later time than I actually did.
I wasn't trying to complain, (though it sure looked like I was) just looking for insight. (in the totally wrong section of the forums!) -
For me, TW is garbage. But, only level 24 so far.(so I really should hush!)
Still, at this point, why consider Momentum? It's a gimmick. A player shouldn't need momentum to maximize dps. Just use the attack that's recharged and ready.
You know, the way a fire brute would. A fire/fire. Rage is nifty, doubly so with burn. But no rage crash with fire/fire, and no momentum to fuss about either.
Go with fire/fire. No gimmicks just burn, fire ball, Fire Sword Circle. Everything is pretty much dead at that point anyway. -
Just like the title says.
I can understand a lot of folks wanting to try something new. Sure, I get that.
But why these gimmicks?
Street Justice has them
Dual Blades
Titan Weapons
and now Water Blast.
Why? I don't want my attack chain to be "encouraged" in one way, shape or form because of some added benefit. I want to attack with a specific power because it might do a sliver of damage and I don't want to waste the end on the attack that the game has circled for me to use next.
I don't want to have to rely on Momentum to get a decent animation time.
What's the advantage in having these "gimmicks" in a powerset? They are "different", but I don't see the point in having them.
What's wrong with just leaving the gimmicks out and having the powerset dish out that much more damage?
Am I missing something?
If the average blaster dishes out 100 pts of damage on a +2 Boss, does the water blaster dish out more than 120-125 pts because of the gimmick? -
I'm sorry - but when you compare apples to oranges, you're going to get differences.
I find myself remeniscing, looking at Olepi's old ice blaster guide. There, I found the toon that became my main, an ice/ice (now mace mastery ) blaster.
I also have a fire/fire blaster.
Both are level 50, with tier 4 incarnate goodies.
The new snipe changes mean absolutely nothing to me.
I won't even play any differently. Still, the only place that snipe will get any use is the bomb clusters in UGT. It's essentially a set mule.
I might use it solo to get a piece of a boss, but I doubt it.
Aim-->Blaze--Build Up---> Fire Ball ...and that's usually all I have to do. Maybe follow up with FSC.
With my ice blaster, it's a different show. Aim-->freeze ray. (phone rings, hit BFR, answer phone) Shiver (casually pressed with one hand on mouse) Build up -- > Bitter ice Blast. (finish talking)
It's two completely different animals.
There is absolutely no need for changes of any kind to ice. Over 4000 hours I've logged, according to the npcs whose names start with M.
Some may not feel that ice is so awesome. And that's perfectly okay. I don't think stone armor on a tank is particularly awesome, nor do I find Shield Defense on a brute to be worth a second try. I also think Electric Doms are garbage (at least played the way I play mine, lol)
Some of you may think Ice needs more help. You're more than entitled to think that, but I'm suggesting that you are expecting something that doesn't need to be there to be competitive with any other blast set.
So ice doesn't have a snipe. Fire doesn't have a hold. I would not trade freeze ray for blazing bolt. Nor would I give up ice patch for burn or hot feet.
Would I like more damage and mez protection? Sure! That's why I have a fire/fire brute, and a fire/fire tank!
I realize I'm just one person, but my opinion is that ice is nice. Just the way it is. -
Because of the 2XP weekend ....August 10-12, I will not be forming the ugt on Friday after the msr, nor will I form the MoUGT on Sunday after the msr.
Other than that, UGTs will continue. -
Hmmm...how do I put this....
What it ultimately comes down to is how well do you play the toon that you have?
I don't care if you're on an emp/elec, arguably one of the slowest solo-levelers in game. (but I haven't played every power combination, so there is always room for debate!)
Just be the best emp/elec you know how to be.
If, indeed, waterblast turns out to be "meh", so what? Play it with as much efficiency (for me, that's fun.) as you can. (your fun may be different. If it's using silly plays on words like "Haha, Buckshot, you're all wet behind the ears!", then do so as well as you can.
There is no such thing as a "best performing" blaster. If there were, you can bet the nerf bat will swing. Fire blast is indeed awesome. However, you have to enjoy that kind of fast paced action. For a slower pace, you might try something else. Again, room for argument, because "best performance" is not defined.
Highest DPS given a specific attack chain does not equal "best performance". Endurance issue must be considered. Damage mitigation must be considered. Playstyle must be accounted for.
So, to answer your question, No, it is not obsolete. -
I was hoping to make 1400
but, the best I can do until I get MoCuda and head back to blue side is 1377. -
Quote:Please note that there would be no level shifts for your pets anyway, as when you try for the Really Hard Way, there is no putting out any lights. There goes my shot again at the very hard way badge :C

Y U MAKE ME UPSET D:
As for what I think of the Magi changes, I think if you change the difficulty of something, you should also change the rewards.
1. This trial should give an automatic rare/very rare. No ifs, ands or buts.
Procedurally, it's not terribly challenging, but in practice, a lot of players will suffer because their league may not have all the pieces of this puzzle.
(Buffs, debuffs and damage)
I've tried forming for this trial countless times, and I'll get plenty of melee and one empath (to buff 23 other players!) or, 8 defenders, a bunch of doms and controllers, but no blasters, brutes or scrappers.
Yes, I could "try" to proceed with whoever chooses to join, but I think a good leader won't proceed unless he/she thinks they can win, or alternatively explain to the group, "we're missing x from the league, it will be tougher than usual."
Alternative to the auto rare/very rare table, I think there should be an astral for beating 250 idf, an astral for beating each of the three avs, and an astral for beating black swan in addition to the two emps for winning the trial.
Aside from unlocking hybrid, or pursuing badges, there seems to be very little reason to run this trial other than the joy of dodging lightning flow. -
The price for getting older. I did something that I'd never done before. I have no recollection doing it - but it must be true, because I'd not done one weekly with the toon in question. I used it to make my alpha t-4.
A real bone-head play. Like I couldn't just run a yin and a numina or the respec. Ah well, so very glad I didn't rage over it like I ordinarily might.
Oh, Paris, you can downgrade a very rare to the rare of your choice.
In addition, you can break it down to a number of threads. -
A job well done. Pulling him into the flatlands made me nervous, but it all worked out, and well!
-
Ok..so I ran an MoUGT about 3 weeks ago. (almost MO - lol, missed the part about keeping des healthy -arguably the easiest part) Well, I got a very rare. On the toon in question, it was +2, missing a rare to get the
t-3 so I could make him +3. Rather than break it down, I decided to wait, maybe catch one in a subsequent trial.
Well, I have a lot of alts. More than a few 50s, and used some transfers to move some around to take better advantage of some of the more populated servers, so I could make room on my home server. Anyway, because there was some good Mo iTrials going on, I was going to break that very rare down, and well, it's gone. No rares, no very rares.
Just wondering if I'm getting confused or has something like this happened to someone else. I don't think I am, because I am looking at the badges for this toon, and I can see the dates they were awarded, and ugt is guaranteed very rare /rare - yet I have none in my inventory.
The sad thing is, even if I'm right (and, of course, I am fairly certain I am) I don't think the GMs can do anything about it.
This ever happened to any of you? -
Bah, I may have to forgo gaming. The family wants to take me out to celebrate me finally getting a job after almost a year of gaming for 4 to 6 hours a day
-
I have prior commitments an hour after your posted start time, so I can help with this unless it takes a very long time to form.
My only toon that can participate is my blaster, t-4'd in all the right parts. -
I can make this.
I'll bring Frosty Charms, earth/cold controller unless we end up needing a tank. -
A different idea - leave it as it is.
Simply stop making it the weekly tf. -
They can be traded and mailed. They can also be stored in your base.
They cannot be converted. I did not try to boost them, because they'd have to be slotted to do that.
I only ran the blockbuster long enough to get the badges. After a few runs, it's pretty much ho-hum for me.
When I see people asking how much these are worth on the market, my guess is anywhere from 25-50 million, depending on the piece. Some ATs are okay with 4, others may want all 6, particularly free players without an invention license.
Overall, I don't see myself running any more of these. The shiny has worn off.
The biggest problems we had were figuring out
1. Which of the 3 to talk to.
2. Where the safe is.
3. Whether to flirt or be crass.
The fights were just like tip missions, nothing in particular special about them.
I did chuckle when they "ran out of monkeys". -
I only have room for 1 channel. I'm primarily interested in iTrials and Task Force Commander TFs. Which of the zillions of channels would you recommend?
I consider myself a more than competent player - and I don't role play. -
I'd recommend fire/fire brute - but getting to 28 for burn isn't incredibly fast. But! Once you get it, you'll likely reach 50 in less time than it took you to get to 28.

Quote:I suppose that's true in a sense. My apologies. At first glance, I saw something about people using a team transport in a tutorial. I wouldn't have thought someone in a tutorial would be teaming with anyone, let alone some other character in PI.I already posted a very detailed reason why it's delayed. Then I stated that they could have made it level 3 instead of level 4, and clarified I didn't know why they didn't. And then said since it only takes like five minutes to get from 3 to 4, it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
However, the reasons why they delayed them have already been stated; you are simply choosing to not read them.
It never fails to boggle my mind that someone choosing to do something outside of my experience (team up with a level 50 during a tutorial) would cause such a ruckus. Why would a level 50 even want to be in a tutorial...
ah, no matter. I noticed that Pocket D and Base TP were also greyed out until level 4, and that didn't make any sense to me either.
Just one more thing that I think is stupid but will have to accept.
<sigh> -

Quote:You're missing the point.Getting from level 3 to level 4 (the difference in levels that the porters could be available at, which is what my entire post was talking about) takes about five minutes, especially if you kill everything in your path even between missions.
I have no trouble leveling. Not my first rodeo. My point is that there is no *reason* to delay the accessibility of these transport powers that have been paid for with points.
"Why" is the question. Not "how to work around it". Give me some credit. I have over 20 level 50s. I'm quite capable of getting from level 3 to 4 in a few moments.
It makes no sense to kill npcs along the path. There's no reason to do so. XP will come, I don't have to work for it. That's wasting even more time. Attack, attack, attack. Run 10 steps, attack attack, miss, attack, run 10 steps. Can it be any more dull than that?
The whole idea behind spending points for this is to use it right away to save me the trouble of the commutes. To save me time. So that I can complete missions in a more timely fashion. Not to just lash out at any npc that happens to be in the way. I'm after merits, not xp. I can get those merits faster by getting to the mission faster.
Sure, it could be argued, that if I would just shut up and fight a few mobs, I'd have my super speed and not have to worry about it - but then, I'd never know if there was ever a reason why.
Just maybe, one of those folks that "haz the powah" might answer the question, or say "Hmm...there really isn't a good reason to not let them have that power right away. Let's change that. "
Obviously, it's not likely to change, and the devs have a lot more pressing issues. But, sometimes, people hear things, and know the answer to these kinds of things.
