I have the feeling that I'm grateful I'm not overly familiar with that tune.
Going to try and start a posi at 9am Central
Followed by a Synapse at 11am Central
(That's 10am Eastern, and noon eastern, for all you time zone challenged folks)
There will definitely be a Synapse at 7pm Eastern, also.
As time and real life allows, I'll try to have at least one more posi and synapse in between, and maybe some others. -
I ...remember this! Well, something very much like it. I had just finished leveling my first toon to 50. An emp/elec defender, before most of the nifty temp powers, and slightly before and during ED. It took me about 400 hours.
Shortly thereafter, I got a spines/regen to 50 in 223 hours.
Now? With all the ease of leveling? It took my fire/fire tank maybe 90 hours? But - that's not using any Set IOs except for a couple of knockback procs and Lotg 7.5% recharges. (until she dinged 50)
The AT and powersets don't necessarily make much difference in leveling speed if you team with 7 others routinely, most of the time your on. If you're left to solo, it will take much longer. (unless you're running at */+8)
The process of bidding, buying, acquiring the salvage to craft the recipes takes time. A lot of time. I suggest using MIDS before you roll your toon. I suggest using an alt to bid on the recipes and salvage you'll need ahead of time, and have the enhancements ready in your base.
Still - let's say you got to 50 in less than 100 hours. Sure, you might impress some folks, but what about the accolades - not simply the badges - but the accolades the boost your end and HP. There are 4 that are non-clickable,(auto-on) and they're darn handy. Don't check your timer until you have your accolades. You don't want your toon walking around naked. -
Don't concentrate on the negatives, Hazy. I'll be running a few posi's as well, time permitting.
-
lol, I am going to check and see if I can watch the whole thing on Netflix.
Although I bear a strong resemblance to Mr. Grant, I could never talk that fast, nor dress so well.
And that reminds me, I might have to post another thread....much later- about the origin and pronunciation guide for Ukase Rex. -
I can confirm that one Synapse TF will begin forming at 9pm Eastern, 8pm Central, and 6pm Pacific, on Saturday July 30.
That will likely be the last run I do.
Others will be earlier. -
I just finished rebuilding my emp with some nifty recharge - and it wasn't cheap. Soon as I get him level shifted- which should happen by the time I finish his TFC (this coming weekend- shameless plug for my other thread)- then I'll bring him to the trials.
His name is Confidence. If he's there - the team will succeed. If your team lacks Confidence, well, you already expected to lose. -
No worries here about derailing a thread. I must confess, until the Keyes trial, I felt pretty much invincible with my main, ice/ice blaster Ukase Rex. So much so, that I would do really crazy things like run into the mob around the tank just to put down an ice patch.
Then, something like the Keyes trial comes along and offers me a nice dose of humble pie. But, you're right, we'll get it sorted out, sooner or later. -
No worries here, Steele. Just sorry you missed out on those easy merits, and in particular the way you missed them.
I told the group that you just might have thrown a brick through your monitor. I might have been transferring my own frustration, though. I can't count the times the game has crashed during the last mission of a task force, and I had to scramble to get back on, and hope all the while that the team didn't finish without me.
Let me know if Dear Ophelia needs a hand on her next attempt. I still have my ill/rad troller who needs the Manticore tf. -
Not just yet on a specific time. I'll be on most of the day and spamming on LB. I need them on at least three toons. As the weekend draws closer, I will try to pin myself down to a time.
-
This weekend, since double xp is cancelled, and because I have noticed that many of my toons don't have the Task Force Commander Accolade, I'm going to form repeated Posi and Synapse Task Forces.
I know that some consider Synapse boring, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs that for the TFC accolade.
Hope I see you. -
To answer your question, yes.
I'm sure in my case it has to do with memory; as this doesn't happen in the beginning, but always at the end of whatever event I'm doing, whether it be MSR or a tf team fighting the AV.
The tech forums can be helpful, but they can also leave you with more questions than answers. -
I think the main reason folks don't want to "lead" anything new, is a lack of confidence in what to expect.
There are a select few who don't seem to mind investing their time in Beta, Test and the forums to find out what works and what doesn't.
Of course, there are some others who know exactly what to expect, but real life and possibly other issues like a lack of patience keep them from leading.
Regardless, I am shamed, for not having mentioned other class acts like @Energizing Ion, @arbegla, @hazygreys, @its me Matt and several others whose names escape me because of my failing memory. -
Just wanted to take a moment and give props to @Wulfrich. It takes a special kind of person to break things down and help a bunch of folks get some badges that are pretty tough to get the first or even second time around.
My head was pounding, or I'd have jumped in the mix to go for a few badges myself. Still, it was good to see Wulfrich forming for the Keyes Trial badges.
Thanks, Wulfrich! -
Quote:I agree. I've played on a couple of Fire/rad superteams (controllers and corruptors) and there was never a need for a tank. Even the STF was done with our Corruptor popping purples(against Lord Recluse). It wasn't a thing of beauty at all times, but it was done. Not only are teams with multiple sources of control, buffs, or debuffs feasible, but they're incredibly powerful. Most of the single-AT superteams that I've heard of consisted of archetypes with buffs and debuffs that stacked up to awesomeness, and nigh-invulnerability.
As for your example of feeling less useful as a Tanker when there's lot of control, I know exactly what you mean. If you're concentrating on, well, Tanking on your Tanker, multiple effective Controllers can pretty much take over for you. I've found it useful to not really think of mezzing ability and tanking as seperate things when building a team, but merging them into 'aggro management'. In that category, they're really doing the same thing.
As others have said, the 'holy trinity' is not needed at all in CoH. You can make workable teams with just about any combination of ATs. Some combinations work better than others (and yes, the holy trinity works quite well), but it's pretty hard to put together a team of more than about five people and not have it work at all. Having a competent player is infinitely more imporant than having a certain archetype in this game.
I play all the hero ATs. The toons that seem the most useless to me are the buffing toons, like my emp - but that's a perception thing. When you buff well, you don't need to heal every 3 seconds. So, I find myself using secondary attacks in between mobs. I've felt useless with my tank before, as the controllers typically do a group immobilize and it's tough to round up a group that's stuck in place. As others have stated, it's all about your preferred playstyle. -
Am I the only one who finds this last-minute announced interruption of game play unacceptable?
True, they are going to do the maintenance while the servers are down, which is good.
But, they should have done this publish on Thursday, to coincide with the Scheduled down time. If, in fact, there was some game-breaking issue (or game fixing, lol) that needed to be addressed, this should be explained before the servers go back up, not after.
Patch notes should also be posted while the servers are down, not when they go back up. If they can't fix what needed to be fixed, they should know that from their testing prior to the update. Admittedly, there's much I don't know about what those devs do, but from a customer standpoint, they constantly irritate me with this lack of forethought. -
Quote:Hey, this is clever! Thanks!2 Billion on hand, per character.
You can email funds to your other characters, or place bids on items that do not exist (i.e. some Level 53 recipes)
Man, I just hope there's no glitch that makes a level 53 IO possible in the future, at least not without some advance warning.
I do know that waaaaaaay back, during a hami raid, someone did get a level 54 Hami-o. I saw it in the trade window when he showed it to me. -
First, welcome back.
As for when this gets started, it starts when issue 21 goes live. When they announce the date, I'll provide further details. -
Before you invite anyone into your sg for the specific purpose of inviting your alt - make sure your permissions are set to not allow the lowest ranking members any access to your storage bins.
You can change the permissions once your alt is in. -
So there will be an MSR Tuesday, July 19 at 6pm Eastern.
I think you'll get more attendance if you post that in the MSR thread. I almost missed it, I suspect others would also. -
Hazy, just say no to speed boost. Just say no.
Isn't being addicted to Adrenaline boost enough of a handicap? -
I've given it some thought, and I'm not heading to the VIP server. I don't see the point. The game, for me, will remain largely the same.
-
I sure hope I can still choose not to do the tutorial. Just drop me off in Atlas park. I don't need to rehash the rest of it.
-
After further review, some off-forum in-game discussions, I think opening up the Superteam to all */regen toons would be a better way to do things.
Also, since we apparently have the option to choose from the tutorial which side we go to, I think we'll start there, and go to whichever side the majority of players opt for.
I am inclined to go blue side because I know it better - which is why I'll vote for red side.
There's plenty of time - some folks think issue 21 won't hit until maybe Thanksgiving or Christmas - so please understand that things may change between now and then. -
