Willpower has typed defense. So, you should pick IO sets that give good typed defense bonus instead of positional defense bonus.

Since you picked the soul mastery patron pool, you can use darkest night, which has a pretty strong to-hit debuff. It can stack with your defense. If the mobs don't significantly resist the debuff, their to-hit chance will be pretty low.

The steadfast +def is not very expensive, so it should be ok. Willpower doesn't depend on +recharge, so the LotG +recharge is not really essential. However, it is nice to have as your attacks can recharge faster. You can slowly buy the Miracle and Numina unique, and LotG + recharge as you earn more inf.

    I re-slotted your build below.

  2. The build looks good. I only have a few minor comments. I would slot rise to the challenge with more endurance reduction instead of over-slotting the power with heal. For example, replace the heal generic IO with a heal/end from another IO set. I would slot darkest night better such that the power can be more effective. Maybe you can move the slots from boxing to darkest night. I don't really think you will use boxing.

For super jump, that's not a bad choice given that you don't have enough slots at that point. You can replace it by strength of will if you like. I think you need it sometimes. The purples are not really necessary, but they are nice. One of the focus of your build is defense. You can slot gloom with thunderstrike for energy/negative energy defense (maybe move the second slot from combat jumping to gloom). For the ragnorok, I don't think there are IO sets with decent typed defense bonus for targeted AoE powers. You can stick with ragnorok if you like. Replacing it by positron's blast is not bad an alternative.

Trials are supposed to be difficult. I don't think there is right or wrong about what the baseline difficulty of a trial should be. If the dev decides to follow your suggestion, I'm ok. For the current setting, it's definitely a challenge, but I'm also fine with it. I don't think every content in the game should be easily conquered by players.
  4. The game plays similarly using SO as in the past. While it is more powerful to use IO, a SO-slotted character is still viable. If your current build does not respect enhancement diversification, I suggest that you should respec it and keep using SO for the moment. Then you just join teams to do some high-level missions, tfs, and trials to have fun. Inf comes very quickly as you play. I made you an IO build below. What you can do is to go to the trainer and get a second build. You play and earn inf using the first SO build. You can slowly slot and work on the second IO build. With some time, you will get your second IO build functional and start using it.

    Welcome back and have fun!

  5. I would like the Sewer trial to remain difficult. If the +2 level and the minimum team requirement is a problem, then a warning can be put in the description about the level and the difficulty. Actually, the respec trial is a bit too easy now, maybe it needs a sewer trial treatment. Teams are usually ambushing the spawns at the doors rather than the other way round.

Yes, it's not easy to soft cap defense without maneuvers nor weave. If you're ok to lose hasten, then you can take a look at the build below.

  7. I think some powers can be slotted better. I would slot blinding feint like an attack such that it can hit. In addition, your defense toggles are over-slotted for defense. I would replace the defense/recharge IO with a defense/end/recharge one.

Overall, I think the build is ok. An issue with willpower is that there are not many powers that we want to skip. While for dual blades, if you want more than one attack combo, you have to take nearly the whole power set. So, willpower and dual blades together mean that you nearly can't take any pool powers after picking fitness and fighting. Below, I tweaked your build a little with only the sweep combo. I think the character is tougher this way. Maybe you think this is unacceptable, but you can take a look.

There are some personal preference here. So, I can only tell you what I think. Boxing's damage is quite comparable to your level 1 melee attack. For your case, boxing is quite similar to charged brawl. Both boxing and charged brawl are great to fill the time gap in an attack chain. I think it's sufficient to have one of them. I suggest that you can either skip charged brawl at level one and pick boxing at level 6, or use charged brawl only. For the latter case, boxing is taken just to open up the fighting pool. This way, your build will be more efficient. There is nothing wrong if you want to use both.

I modifed your first build. Please see below. It is better if you can slot damage in your attacks.

    Critique please?

I'll comment on your second build. It takes a while to get acquainted with slotting. It is not a surprise that the build doesn't look good on the first try. I think your power choice is ok. I would try to squeeze in build up, phalanx fighting (for higher defense), and grant cover (for higher defense debuff resistance) if possible. For your slotting, Frogfather already said it. I don't know how much inf you have. I made you a semi-budget build below. The set bonus is mainly to soft-cap defense. I suggest that you go for something cheaper at the beginning. You can upgrade slowly as you have more experience in the game.

I can get it started by making you one. The problem is that there is no unique way to make a build. You can post your current build here, and tell us what powers and power pools are essential for you, and your preferred patron. You can tell us your budget as well such that we can make a decent yet affordable build.
  11. There is a memory diagnostic program in Windows. In the search box in the Start Menu, type memory. You'll see the Windows memory diagnostic program. It will run when you restart. From your description, it looks like a hardware issue.
  12. Sometimes, new components can be defective. You can do a complete memory diagnostic test and a stress test for your video card to make sure that your hardware has no problem.

I modified your build to use IO sets. It's a semi-budget build, so it should be quite affordable.

I'm currently sitting at 18 and would like some ideas of a build that manages to fit Aid Self in it without losing much performance.
I think your build can be slotted more efficiently if the defense bonus can be more focused on typed defense instead of positional defence. You probably don't need to push your defense well beyond 45% if you use darkest night. For fitting in aid self, the main issue is that you already have taken 4 power pools, and you need to give up one of them to pick the medicine pool. One easy way is to sacrifice leadership. Maneuvers is not really a big deal. I would like to keep tactics for the perception and resistance to confuse and fear. The perception is needed for darkest night if you don't want it to drop frequently when fighting mobs with perception debuff.

Anyway, if you're ok to drop the leadership power pool, I modified your build as follows. The defense is still soft-capped, but a little lower. I try to keep it cheap as well.

  15. I played my ice dominator last night. I used shiver many times. My computer didn't crash (I think I turned down the particle count). It's possible that certain faulty hardware caused the crash, and somehow shiver seems to trigger it. However, if you think that the fault is not on your side, you can do some more systemic testing. For example, play other toons instead of your ice blaster to see if it crashes after a day. If you can find a target that you can just use shiver on it the whole night, it would be informative to know if crashes will occur.
  16. I would pick Gorgeous Glenda, the facemaker.
  17. You can take a look at the guides in the sticky thread. Feel free to check out my guide on energy aura as well. We can make you a build. It would be helpful if you can tell us your preference on power choice and your budget.
  18. Feel free to check out gadgets for girls for a giggle.

Ah, the former best power a blaster could have! Raises Tohit and perception for relativley little cost. The problem nowadays is that the effects can be emulated on any set with rather minimal IO slotting. This power needs something else (besides an interaction with snipe rifle) to make it stand out from what everyone else can do.
While it is not very appealing now, it has resistance against to-hit and perception debuff. So, the power does have something that stands out.
  19. Your build is ok. I get rid of your maneuvers, then you use slightly less endurance. Please see below.

There isn't much you can do about the end crash. Apart from the crash, the main endurance usage is your attacks. The endurance drain from toggles is actually less significant. So, you should slot your attacks better to reduce the endurance cost such that the effect of crash can be effectively reduced. I modifed your build to slot your attacks differently. And I soft-cap your s/l defense at the same time.

I think your recharge build is ok. I would slot the toggles better. I modified your recharge build with midnight grasp below. Without using ultra-rare IOs, it now has higher recharge.

    Dark/Fire

For your defense build, I don't think you need so many knockback protection. Your resistance toggles are very poorly slotted. There are too many powers that you took but seldom use, for example boxing, kick, burn, and maybe even shadow punch.

I modifed your defense build. Please see below. I try to keep the global recharge that you have. Instead of raising the s/l defense to 40%, I only make it to ~30% but take darkest night instead. I think the build is tougher with resistance toggles slotted well.

  23. Interesting way to proliferate shield defense to stalkers.

    The concept sounds strange.

With that long reach and those big knuckles, it’s simply easier to hit and countering after a block will result in a big-time *Punch* to your attack power. Note: this would give you some sort of offensive bonus after using Block! that would basically amount to another 'placate' in that it only last for the next attack. It could be a big +dmg bonus or a +crit% chance or both

    7. Block! (click PBAoE ally moderate +def all, self moderate +def vs melee/range, high +res to all except psi, *special*) Reach out that huge hand and palm any attack that’s aimed at you for a time while nearly nullifying the damage of any attack that you palm thrust away. Any nearby allies within 10ft of you will also get some cover. Incidentally, reaching out your hand sets up nearby foes for a hefty Strike! if they’re in reach. Note: This would be similar to Shadow Meld and Moment of Glory in that it gives you a defense bonus for 15 sec. It also bolsters resistance by a great amount but only for a very short time (like 3 sec) as well as activating the special of Strike! The team +def would be short lived as well (3-5 sec).
I think these two powers are the new thing, and they look quite good and thematic for stalkers. I think they are interesting variation of the original powers.

I would love something better and more interesting for this power.

FYI, perma-hasten can be archieved by 6-slotting hasten with ~90% of global recharge. So, it's a matter of whether you want to make it perma or not, or you're ok with a few seconds of down time. I think it's a personal preference whether the extra 2-3 slots are worth it. I enjoy perma-hasten. Maybe as you said, I'm probably clueless and no idea how to play the game.

My suggested build can attain nearly perma-hasten quite cheaply without using purple or pvp IO. The price is to put a couple more slots into hasten to squeeze a few seconds out of it. Actually, you don't need to give numbers, I already know it. Since you have a lot of inf to buy sets of pvp IOs, your build will be more slot-efficient than a cheap one, it doesn't mean that I'm excessively min-maxing. And to put fortitude on 7 people, you need fortitude to recharge very quickly (~17 seconds), so you want to avoid too much downtime from hasten. But of coz, if you don't care, then it won't worth the slots.
