SS/WP IO build: he;lp

Hello random internet strangers,

I came back to CoX semi-recently and have dusted off my old SS/WP brute in anticipation of finally grinding him through the late 40s to 50 because I'm a slacker who has owned this game for 5 years and has never once got a level 50.

I've started looking at some of the higher-end sets (right now I'm replacing Scirocco's Dervish in Foot Stomp with Obliteration, for example) and I thought I'd come here looking for some advice with respect to setting (pun intended) myself up so I've got enough defense to really wade through seas of hostiles and smush them all to bits.

This won't softcap me, and I don't expect to reach softcap easily - but I figure between the -hit from RTTC and with a Luck here and there I should still be able to rock things something fierce.

Granted - I won't be able to afford this build for a while. The LotG recharge alone costs more infamy than I've ever had, let alone the Numina +recovery and the Steadfast Protection +def. Mostly what I'm asking is if this is a good build to shoot for, or if it can be improved in any way without horribly gimping my wallet.

Willpower has typed defense. So, you should pick IO sets that give good typed defense bonus instead of positional defense bonus.

Since you picked the soul mastery patron pool, you can use darkest night, which has a pretty strong to-hit debuff. It can stack with your defense. If the mobs don't significantly resist the debuff, their to-hit chance will be pretty low.

The steadfast +def is not very expensive, so it should be ok. Willpower doesn't depend on +recharge, so the LotG +recharge is not really essential. However, it is nice to have as your attacks can recharge faster. You can slowly buy the Miracle and Numina unique, and LotG + recharge as you earn more inf.
