Quote:Dark/dark really is awesome. By far my favourite powersets. So, yeah. Dark/Dark? Awesome on paper. In practice, I hear they're totally badass, too. I'm not actually going to find out, though, 'cause that particular toon's not getting past 25. A shame, too. 'Twas a good concept.
My dark/dark/soul corruptor is usually faster than the team tank with getting to groups, taking them out with fearsome stare, tarpatch and darkest night.I could clear whole maps set for x8 safely with her, were it not that it would take forever to actually kill all of it.
The only synapse I ever did was recently with that character (I'm a villain at heart and that character is my main and badger). We started with 7, were left with 4 by the second mission and me as the 'tank' and pacesetter over the 2 scrappers we had. Whole thing still took almost 3 hours though. I hate clockwork.
As for characters I dislike. Dissonant, my energy/sonic corruptor, springs to mind. I love her concept, her costume, her name ... but she's just really tedious to play solo or in small groups. Firstly she sucks end like mad, even with an end red in every attack. I love energy blast on my blaster, but it's rather sub par on corruptors as far as damage output is concerned. But mostly I dislike is that she doesn't have a reliable way to defend herself. No reliable crowd control, no massive damage and no heals. All she has is a stack of resistance which isn't all that usefull without the HP to back it up and KB, which I like, but always fails to work at the worst moments. I leveled her to 50 in Strike Forces and Double xp weekend teams mostly. I like her well enough in large teams.
Maybe I should just IO her out and see how she does then. But even without IO's I already loved my dark/dark, ice/kin, fire/pain, ice/storm and rad/rad. They never felt tedious. -
Quote:That's the whole concept any MMORPG, or cRPG for that matter, is based on you know.one problem i see coming is this: we are now stronger, so we are asked to fight harder enemies, because we are asked to fight harder enemies, we need to get even stronger. but is it actually going to get more challenging? is fighting an even con minion at lvl 50 any harder then at lvl 10? the end game TFs are more difficult then the regular end game missions because our strength doesn't change but there are more/tougher enemies. if the ratio of "our strength" to "enemy toughness" stays the same, then what is the point of making us stronger at all?

It's awesome.
People that kick you for it are idiots. -
Quote:People already solo high end TF's and people already 'cake walk' solo through farm maps set for x8.One queston that I keep asking is "When will the other shoe drop?"
In the past every time they have given the players a boost, and equal nerf has happened to Balance it out. all this goodness, has to have a counter to it, right now the two incarnate TF have a -4 buff on the players, but normal tfs do not, what happens if after 2-3 incarnate slots get unlocked and people can SOLO some of the higher TFs? or if farmers start cake walking through some of the new AE missons they will create? will there be incarnate only zones? where we get full powers and other only some. or will they go the route of like diablo 2,with a normal, nightmare, hell mode? or will they go like with diablo:LOD where you convert your char and can not go back to normal type missons?
The -4 debuff only happens when you don't have an alpha booster slotted.
Also the idea that every buff gets countered by a nerf is just ridiculous.
Where was the nerf when lowbe accuracy got buffed? (or was it tohit?)
Where is the nerf now with inherent stamina?
Also over the past few years buffs to powers and powersets as a whole have been far, FAR more common than nerfs. Invul, claws, martial arts, mace, dark melee, energy aura, elec armor, archery, katana, stalkers, blasters, defenders solo, tanker tier 1 attacks, plentymorethatIcan'tthinkofrightnow. Nerfs? energy melee, the ridiculously broken shield charge, and you could call the rebalancing of Psionic assault as a nerf overall. The fury rebalancing and changes to domination were a nerf to top end players, but most players are better for it. -
Quote:There aren't any for my brute's secondary either. But just like with your empath he can slot a bunch of them in his attacks.edit. you might notice, there are no purple sets for empath powers. just sayin
If I wanted to that is. I don't bother with slotting purples personally. I enjoy the ridiculous profits I can make off of them too much.
Also, I hate tankers that agro a whole room, far over their agro cap, and then let everything run amok, and then dare to call that 'herding'. Piss poor playing is what I call it. -
Quote:I know the timer starts the moment you enter the door to the ground floor. And it stops once BM herself dies (duh). But I hear conflicting things about how it exactly works, so I'm not really sure.Well we did it as well, but didn't get a badge.
Do you know when the timer starts and when it stops...etc..etc?
Some say, that the timer halts for the second phase (the one where BM leaves and you have to fight off the ambushes.) and continues once she returns for the third phase.
Others say you need to complete all 3 phases in the 15 mins.
All I know for sure is that we did the whole BM fight thing in 13 minutes based on the 1 hour timer set at the start of the TF. -
I wholehartedly agree! Haven't done the Tin Mage TF yet, but just completed MoATF without dying once myself! For all I care they can make the next batch of TF's even harder.

Quote:I think Ramiel's arc isn't all that bad really. It has a variety of enemy types, the maps aren't to big and the EB fights have a few fun twists to it, compared to other, older boss fights. It's a heck of a lot better than the villainside arc to unlock Cimerora anyway.Ok in retrospect I will say I don't think the arc to introduce us to Incarnates is actually very good in terms of vehicle or story - but most mandatory arcs, the Montague Castanella or the Invention arcs aren't brilliant either and this comes up a shade below them IMO but it's easy enough to do so is simply something to be endured rather than enjoyed.

Quote:That's all fine. You enjoy yourself with the game and that's all that's needed. In my case, because I enjoy the general gameplay and the costume creator. I tried joining PUGs, and even an actual super group when I first started playing. I found PUGs less than likable because I seemed to constantly run into people who were bad players, or actual build fascists. And I ended up setting all my characters to hidden from my own SG, because I quickly got fed up with the other members *demanding* that I come team with them, regardless of what I was already doing. (Quite often, they didn't even have the courtesy to phrase it as a request. Not "Oh, hey fellow team member. Are you busy? Would you like to help me out with this?" No, instead I got "You're in our SG and we want two more people for this team. Get over here now.") Now all my characters are in one of my solo SGs, and all of them are hidden from searches as soon as they are made.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I play MMOs because I like something about the game enough to tolerate the fact that there are other people logged in at the same time. I play *despite* the massively multiplayer part, not because of it. Of the three MMOs that I spend any time playing, none of them particularly require teaming most of the time. I don't PVP, and I don't have any interest in "raid" style content. In fact, the main reason I'd stopped really playing the zillion pound gorilla of MMOs a good six months before I actually quit was that it became more and more apparent that there really wasn't much to do at the level cap if you didn't want to sign away your soul to a hardcore Raiding guild.
It's still not a good reason to make *everything* soloable imo. I'm glad the Devs seem to agree on that. -
Quote:Yep, got it yesterday. There's 2 teams on Union I know off that completed MoATF, which means there's probably a lot more than just 2.Anyone else got the already dead badge? My team just did the mish and I used a stopwatch for when Battle maiden was on the map and before we went to ground level.

Did one in 56 minutes yesterday. Not that impressive, except that it wasn't a speedrun and we did every mission from front to back 'as designed'. I was quite pleased with it.
1 brute (me), 3 scrappers, 3 corrupters and a troller that dropped in the first mission and never came back. -
Quote:I'm fairly sure you can get special chairs for that. You're kidding, right? That's the second most outrageous thing I've read in this thread yet. Seriously, I've never even HEARD of something this preposterous.
How do you SIT long enough to even play CoH when the left side of your butt is larger than the right? -
I actually like the use of colors for this. I just don't think it's implimented very well.
The colors aren't intuitive at all to me. I keep forgetting which color means what, and I usually have a feeling for this kind of thing (eg: the much hated SO names and colors don't phase me at all). Add to that that I can't find the meaning of the colors anywhere in game. (Am I overlooking something obvious?). -
Quote:This.I love it.
It's got me playing my old alts again, and having a lot of fun with them.
It allows me to either fix the worst issue my character builds have, or improve their strengths.
It's got people running TFs that aren't the ITF much more frequently.
The promise of shards is encouraging people to actually fight enemies instead of ghosting every single mission they can.
It's a great addition to the game.
Add to it that I'm really excited by the design of the new TF's (and the new midlevel arcs aswell! the hero arc is especially great imo.) It givs me high hopes for the rest of the 'end game' content.
It also helps that it brought a lot of old players I haven't seen in a while out of the woodworks. -
Can this increased drop rate also apply to the LGTF Hamidon? This could be pure luck of course but of the 3 LG's I did since I19 I got a shard of a mito each time.

Quote:Could you show me on the doll where the bad RNG touched you?If a shard drops, everyone on the team should get one, not just the resident goof-off. Sicne shards cannot be sold or traded, this would hurt other people exactly how...? It would certainly be more incentive to team.
We already have to endure the so-called "random number generator" with everything else: salvage, rare recipies, the works. I'm a little tired of having to endure it one more time, since as I've said several times before, IT SEEMS ANYTHING BUT RANDOM.
What seems to be going on is that the number generator actually picks one person to get the lion's share of incarnate stuff, not only for one mission but for the entire TF. Yeah.... I'm enthused. *flat affect* -
Quote:I did it on a SO'd energy/sonic corr with endurance problems. Knocked him back in the lava and let it wittle him away.Absolutely priceless. First he starts trash talking the game
Then has a hissy fit because people aren't blowing sunshine up his butt and telling him how right he is.
Too darn funny.
Yeah well I solo'd that same mission of a Psychic Blast/Kin defender that only has SO's. If my uber squishy can do this mission solo then the problem you're experiencing isn't with the game it's somewhere between your keyboard and your chair.
Edit: It's amazing what you can defeat solo when you plan ahead for a mission and bring along something like a Shivan or a Vanguard HVAS.It more than makes up for his regen.
-
Quote:Did you kill his clones he summons? They give him his regen. Take them out and he's a pushover. If all else fails toss him in the lava. It more than counters his regen.Like all the treads on purple drop rates the milage seems to vary :-(
It's 11:30 pm in Australia and there were no lvl 50's in oro or PI but me :-( (on CoH Justice) I tried to solo the trapdoor mission with my archer blaster and gave up after 1/2 hour, I just couldn't dent him enuff with all his regen.
I see the same thing in the new GR content the devs egged on by the games uber elites have made the damn things so hard that it is no longer fun.
Think a little. It helps. -
I love ramiels arc.
I've heard horror stories about trapdoor in the beta forums, but I've found him a real pushover as far as EB's go on every character I've done the arc with. Honoree and co + infinite rikti portals are a bigger challenge, My brute loved it, my dark/dark corr needed al her crowd management skills but pulled it off as well, my squishier corrs got help from a friend and as a corr duo it was a nice challenge (I don't do pulling, that's for wussies).
The Apex TF is a real treat. The whole thing is really well designed imo. Challenging and fastpaced, but relatively short in total duration. A few wel designed encounters are infinitely more fun than huge maps filled from front to back with the same mobs (I'm looking at you LGTF.)
Haven't done Tin Mage yet, but I'm looking forward to it. -
For villains, finding villainside tip missions, everything works as it should. At least for me.
Yesterday I found 3 tips in the space of 1 mission, and a new one, to replace the one I was doing, in every mission I did after that. -

Quote:Had this same thing the otherday. Tried it twice, but it didn't help. Dropped the mission and bugged it ingame.Silent Blade just wouldn't become an enemy.
I ran the mission 3 times at the behest of GMs after petitioning it-- four times total. Twice killing everything on the map. Reset the mish in between both by abandoning the mish and by doing a different mish.
I bugged it as well.
Just an FYI.
