I've run into this a couple times, myself. A recent situation was I had a couple padding characters in an SG from when we had the SG prestige bonus two years ago. I actually played a couple of the characters for a bit, but the owner stopped playing. He eventually auto-demoted and of course I ended up the leader. I played off and on for a couple months, but when I logged in one day, all characters in that SG, except for my leader character had been kicked. He apparently logged in, removed his characters, kicked whatever padders that were on and quit. The base is a decent size and there were quite a few nice enhancements stored - Numina's, Steadfasts, etc.
For awhile I really didn't know what to do. I sent him an offline message asking what had happened but haven't heard back from him. I was hesitant to do anything, but after a month, I figure it is mine now.
As pointed out before, anything you do to the base, except for the crafted base items, is not permanent. So I would edit the base as you see fit. It can always be restored.
As for items of worth stored in the base - that is a hard call. How long SHOULD one wait before you can claim it? -
My very first hero, created 4 years ago, is only at level 45. He'll be my first priority.
And my very first villain, created about 2 months later, is now level 28. Might push for 40. -
Seeing that myself. I've run Viridian's Conference of Evil arc a few times in Flashback, and I'll see them in the last room where the EB's show up, but not in the mobs that lead up to that room. And I ran another flashback arc (don't remember which) and didn't see a single boss.

Finally! Something on test I am actually going to be off from work for the day!

I hit 48 in November. The last time this came up there didn't seem to be so many people fessing up. Glad to be in such great company.
My just turned 4 year old (quite the gap, eh?) loves to play. He really just runs around in the Hollows on a level 12 character tabbing from one victim to the next while his auto attack fires off. And my oldest, 17, has been playing for 4 years. -
I, too have been on the receiving end of a disgruntled wife. I think we are at the point where she knows I'm gonna play the game; there's not much she can do about it. But I try to cut back on game time when she's around. I had considered trying to get her interested, but it's enough of a battle trying to get time on the computer with 2 little ones also wanting to use it.

Yeah - that happened to me twice in a Frostfire mish. Kinda disappointing. No recognition. No uberness. Nothing. And, yeah, I was exemplared.

It must be a matter of timing, or a vocal few. I never have a problem with teams. I run solo mostly because of RL interuptions and I don't like to leave my teammates hanging. Almost always I run hidden from searches, and still I get tells asking if I'm looking for a team. And the few times I do remove the hidden option I almost always am hit with several tells. Sure there are times when it is slow. To be expected. And I play mostly on Triumph, Pinnacle, and Liberty - not the highest populated.

We've had many years where purples didn't exist and the game was still fun. Your insistence that you need purples is what is keeping the prices so high. You're willing to grind for inf instead of enjoying the game at other levels and you feed the market with your spending.

Woot - open open open

You rock Kat! I was wondering if these were adjusted, too. Thanks for the info!

To get the ball rolling on my new characters I just search for level 50 rare recipes that have many for sale and 0 bids. They vendor for 10,000, and you can easily pick up quite a few for 1 inf each. In this way the newbie might start learning what items are in demand.

Don't open that door . . . you may not like what you see.

Quote:I think it depends on what you mean normal players. I don't think of normal players trying to IO out their characters or needing purples.Normal players of this game can not come close to affording these prices.

Quote:You think peeps will keep playing when they can't IO their toons? -
The zero giveth, and the zero taketh away. I've posted bids for stacks of salvage and not realized my initial attempt at bidding didn't post, and suddenly I'm buying salvage instantly, but for a lot more than I intended.

Recent Steals - bought about 10 level 45 crafted recharge reduction common IO's for 1 inf each yesterday, and sold them all for 200,000 to 600,000 each, hero side.
Out of curiousity, Kare - how quickly are your listings moving? Is there an immediate response to your posts? -
He should show up as a small green arrow on the map if you have.

Fortunately I have multiple characters per SG/VG and a means to promote them up should any of my leader characters switch sides and we lose access to the groups. What I will be disappointed with is losing credit for all the prestige earned. I have one character that has earned almost 3 million that I plan to switch over.
What would be nice is if with GR you get the ability to belong to more than one SG/VG, and either be able to equally split the earned prestige, or the type of mission you are working on would dictate where the prestige would go. Just a thought . . . -
My main hero server is Pinnacle, followed by Liberty and Infinity.
My villain server is Triumph. -

Yeah - a little frustrating trying to log in this morning before work and now after work and no access to the game. Understandable why, but still disappointing.

<dips big toe in water> This will take a bit to get used to . . .

If you are in no hurry, you can wait until the Halloween event and hopefully pick up enough inspies that drop from the doors to vendor off in a base, and thus have some starting funds to list the Halloween salvage at the markets. Of course there is the obvious risk . . .
