...I buy a crafted IO for less than the cost of the rare salvage required to make it.
...I end up franken-slotted for less than the cost of a set of lvl 50 SOs.
...I buy anything at all for 42.
...I be earnin'. -
Would estimate the rez's range at around 40ft (possibly more), and breaking LOS doesn't do anything to help.
-
Their rez is the worst. Saps ya and debuffs recovery. It works like the dark armor rez and as far as I can tell they use it every time.
I try to finish em on my scrapper by jumping back and nem staffin' but that doesn't always work. -
I honestly don't get why people are so bent out of shape about powers at the market. Sure, it can be a little annoying sometimes, but to get this upset suggests that perhaps your life is dreamily devoid of ACTUAL problems.
That being said, I like mac's suggestion. -
Awesome post, Rodion. You've assessed and described every problem I have/ had with PvP. I like your solutions too, although, as you point out, your proposed rep penalty/reward system sounds "tricky".
I agree there should be no penalty for fleeing when outnumbered, but I'm not sure I agree that groups should lose rep for attacking loners; they already share the rep across the team and part of PvP is using strategy--turning numbers in your favor certainly is part of this.
Perhaps the loner could get buffed exponentially for each extra opponent and/or be up for increased rep reward/ pvp recipe drop chance?
Great ideas. -
I don't think it's the baddies that are more challenging so much as their arrangements. It seems like there are bigger groups and more ambushes launching more rapidly.
That being said, I would certainly balk at using the words "hard" or "difficult" to describe Praetoria. My wife and I have cruised through on a KM/FA x2 scrapper duo and the only mission (that I've done so far) that I would say was hard was the one with the "kill 100 destroyer" ambushes, and that only because the baddies didn't drop rewards (loves me my insps).
-
I do find "gold side" a little tougher than red or blue, but I like it that way.
-
In the specific example you use, the person is abbreviating the power sets they picked. In this case the only valid "psi/em" combo I can think of is a Psionic Blast/Energy Manipulation Blaster, but it's very common practice and you will find it easier as you familiarize yourself with different ATs and power sets.
Other useful abbrev's to know are "lft" which is "looking for team" and "pst" which is "please send a tell".
Good luck and welcome to the game! -
LOL. A farming guide? I think everyone already knows how to farm.[/ quote]
Fine. Everyone already knows how to farm. Therefore, everyone already knows that farming is a viable way of gaining inf and recipe drops. Everyone. If you actually think this is true, then your entire thread is redundant and pointless.
It seems that some new peeps think the only way to make inf is to "play the market", when thats not true. [/ quote]
But--everyone already knows how to farm! Hence aforementioned knowledge of it's rewards! New players, therefore, not only already know that farming is a viable means of financial sustenance, they know exactly what/how/where.
Please either clear up this paradox or go work on your guide. Unless of course, you WANT new players to suffer?!?! *dramatic violin* -
I see this circus repeatedly referred to as an experiment.
What, exactly, is the hypothesis here? What are we trying to determine?
Farming makes inf? Farming gets drops? Farming takes you to the inf cap? Things can be sold at WW for inf?
Indisputable facts aren't normally tested experimentally, but maybe I'm just missing the point.
Eryq, you love farming, you're thrilled with your results from farming, and you've piqued some others interest in improving their own farming techniques: why not just write a farming guide? -
My initial reaction was "Well, that depends on how far you're willing to delve into market philanthropy..." because, for me anyways, the spend cap on low level recipes like these is around 10k. I'm also not picky about the level; I pick things up from around 14-21 and just supplement anything I can't get right away with IOs.
However, upon further consideration, it may be possible to carve out a little niche for yourself if you are super dedicated and vigilant. People are uber rich these days, and if you controlled most or all of the supply you could probably ramp up prices a lot. The amount of guesswork and patience involved seems daunting though.
Final conclusion:
I honestly can't see it being fun OR profitable >.> -
Wow, all this AR/Dev love; I could never get into it myself. Someday I'm sure I'll try again.
Low lvl TF (Psyche or below) I rock My Fire/Fire Blaster, although I've just gotten into a Rad/Sonic Def that may dethrone him...
Everything else is a tossup between Fire/Kin 'troller, Spine/DA Scrapp, and, if I'm feeling particularly saucy, my WS. Redside, I don't think I'll find more fun than there is to be had with my Plant/Fire Domi.
Of course, I'm usually just altin' it up... -
This all sounds like fun and genuinely exciting stuff! Great Job! (Not the sarcastic Tim and Eric one, but a REAL one!)
-
I foresee no significant changes.
Those who know how to earn with the market will continue to do so, those that fail at the market will continue to complain.
I suspect the supply/demand equilibrium will not shift in the way many seem to expect, and within a month it will be more or less indifferent from it's current state.
When this happens, the dialog will shift from "Yay merged market!" to (a return to) "Devs need to increase drops/make purps available for purchase from NPCs."
I will always be (pretend) rich.
/crystalball -
I have probably logged more hours on my fire/kin than many people have logged on the game in it's entirety (not bragging, this could easily be considered sad). Not farming hours mind you, I seriously can't stand that yawn-fest, I mean serious 8-person team TF sessions and whatnot. There are two things I am a little sick of hearing:
1) Fire/Kins don't buff/are stupid/are selfish. This is a silly generalization that could just as easily be applied across all ATs.
2) I can't sb b/c I want to use my other powers. Targeting assist. Seriously people it's not hard. Target Blaster, sb *plah!*, flashfire *chorm!*, target tanker, sb *plah!*, FS *chinkydink!*, Fireball *floom!*, target defender, sb *plah!*, It's an emp no target!!, target scrapper...etc
And even if this is too difficult to manage, it still can be done on the fly in between groups.
That being said, I have never, and will never criticize that lack of sb/absence of sb in the build of another kin, and I will never ask you for sb. Ignore the jerks who "need" it (i.e. ask for it if it drops even for a second/ask for it while it STILL ON THEM!), and have fun. -
Quote:I actually find this even MORE annoying than what I will call "bad herding" (as designated by someone above me).As long as we're talking "herding" and things that stick in people's craw, let's not forget the inept Blaster that snipes into the mob (or worse multiple mobs) prior to aggro being established, or the Controller that locks everything down before it's effectively gathered....
My craw is bursting! -
As this is something that sticks in my craw, I'll take this opportunity to request of you, and all of tanker nation: Please, please...stop herding*.
Herding used to be a very cool and effective tool for killing masses of baddies. Now, it's just a way to make a giant mess while long-recharge buffs wear off. The agro cap makes it such that it is much faster to just crash over missions like a wave. Lead the group, get into mobs first and take alpha, maybe taunt, and start punchin' stuff. Waiting for a gather kills any active inspirations and buffs like AM and RA. Furthermore, on a large team, you will wind up agro-ing more stuff than you can hold, thus dumping messy aggs onto the squishies. So please, stop herding and tank.
*I am assuming a full team, in a smaller team, it's often useful to combine multiple groups.
PS--I love you tankers. -
I'm surprised no one mentioned Sonic Dispersion. This is a great teaming toon that can hand out 35% resistance to all damage except psi (shields +bubble, unenhanced). It also has EXCELLENT -res capabilities (sonic siphon, sonic disruption) as well as mez protection in the form of the bubble (which will help you too) and clarity. Paired with something* that can hit w/ -regen (rad, dark, kin to an extent) it's pretty awesome. On a TF where the AV/AVs are usually the primary concern, I always like to have a sonic around.
Not trying to argue any kind of superiority, just wanted to encourage folks to roll this nifty set as I rarely see it out there.
*Edit: ie, another team member -
Except those that actually NEED market guides are not good at selling ANYTHING. (or buying for that matter)
-
If you want to role-play a tea party, knock yourself out. Just let me know so I can find a team more interested in smashing than exchanging hollow pleasantries.
-
Just to update, wife and I tested this bug and clarity (Corruptor) and CM both worked normally but Enforced Morale appears to be bugged just as you say--A rikti lieut was able to perma mez me through 3 applications (while domination was up, but not activated). Not exactly game breaking but pretty annoying. At least I know why... :/
-
I generally try to get my recharge slotted by using acc/*/recharge 3 parters (or acc/rech in some cases) which works well in just about every case except TAoE. This is because, for some reason, there is a shortage of sets (there are more freaking taunt sets if you don't count purp/pvp) and the sets that exist are mediocre. That being the case, TAoE is pretty much the ONLY time I use the Dam/Rech eh (but I still pass on the Posi because I'm a miserly *******). Although, iirc, the Air Burst version also calls for a rare salvage piece...Detonation ftw!

Thanks for the replies!
Quote:This (bold) could be it. That would be the point where I don't have mez prot. from dom and EM also ceases to function--makes sense. I'll have to check that more closely. There is a bug regarding Enforced Morale (EM) being applied on a Dominator with Domination running (and I think when Dom is charged and ready to fire as well--can't remember). Essentially EM is completely overridden. I've tested all the other ATs, and it only happens with Doms. -
Mornin'!
My wife and I duo quite often and have recently been rolling with a Fire/Pain corr (her) and a Plant/Fire dom (me). It has been an awesome time so far. However, one little kink seems to be in the performance of Enforced Morale. As far as either of us can tell, the mez protection portion of this power is exactly the same as Clear Mind, however, we have been noticing that I seem to get mez'd through multiple applications of the power, even when the mez's are not stacked (or at least, do not show as stacked on the buff bar).
Has anyone else had any similar experience? Are we misunderstanding the way the power works? She sent a petition but we got the "read the forums/knowledge base, we don't have time for this nonsense" brushoff.
Thanks!
