TF toon
I have loadsa toons, and alot of these are pvp characters but I would like a level 50 Taskforcing toon, something that will make players happy to have on the team so I was wondering what AT and sets would you like to team with?
What makes your day to see join your MoSTF, Itf, Lgtf, Kahn, etc etc.. ![]() (I tend to lean towards defenders/controllers btw...) |
As far as the others go, it doesn't matter a whole lot to me as long as the person playing it is competent.
Rads are always welcome, and I like teaming with Cold Domination characters.
Actually, Ill/Therm would be a good addition to ANY TF at any level range. They can ghost the low level ones, and get their heals early (which are nice to have in low level TFs before tanks' defenses mature). The shields help tanks and scrappers survive before they have al their powers, and are useful for giving tanks more resistance to tank Recluse and Reichsman.
So, I guess I'm saying go with Ill/Therm

When I'm forming TF teams, I like to have several Controllers and Defenders. I don't really worry about powersets. I do tend to shy away from Empathy though.

I think Traps would be a great choice. You get a mixed set of buffs and debuffs, and Traps gets all its best powers early. Not all that difficult to softcap your own defense to everything either. With Hasten and some global recharge, you can double stack Acid Mortars for amazing -resistance. If you want to get really silly, combine Traps with Sonic for some really over-the-top resistance debuffs.

Maybe mind to TK Av's onto mines?

I seem to remember that even a really big stack of mines doesn't do much to an AV- 25% of HP, something like that.

@Boltcutter in game.
I like seeing bubblers, rads, and TAs, but anything that buffs is nice.
For my TF toons, I pick up a way to stealth a mission and Recall Friend, and if my build allows, to rez them.
Another good TF toon, , is to kill everything asap.

Rad/Rad defender. Good debuffs and heals. Also AM is very helpful
We had a lot of success with cold/ice defender on our MO runs.
Cold/ dark/ traps/ rad/ or cold/ defenders are my favorites, especially when they come with sonic blast.
Any kind of 'troller is awesome.
I like blasters, too.
I'll be happy to take one other tank, but I don't like to bring a third or more.
Scrappers... meh. If they join, fine. If I don't get any, great.
That's pretty much my feelings for Master run or regular. I'm never picky, though. I take the first seven people interested and go. I like buffs, debuffs, and controls, but mostly I just like people who can have fun.
Where to now?

Ok building a Traps/Sonic in mids, seems tight to get everything in, there are loadsa powers I want :P I might even skip epic set and stamina all together...
Anyone think there is something from epic power pool that I shouldn't be missing?

My Illusion/Radiation Controller is always welcome on every TF. Ill/Rad doesn't conflict with other controllers, and the Rad part stacked with other Rad 'Trollers and Defenders makes everyone better. Phantom Army helps the tank and can fill in for him, if needed. Whenever I list the characters I could bring to a TF, the Ill/Rad is chosen far more than any other. I have one build with Perma-PA, and the other build has Teleport and Recall Friend for stealthing missions.
Earth Controllers are wonderful if he/she is the only controller on the team.
Warshades are great on TFs, too. The ability to do whatever is needed is very useful. Fill-in Tank, Blaster, scrapper, a little bit of control, with Stealth, teleport and Recall Friend. And the ability to run in, nuke, and almost immediately refull my blue bar.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

A Rad is always welcome. (Heals/Buffs/Debuffs)
But 2 things you should have. Some type of Stealth and Teleport Friend.
I second the colds, it puts enemy values in the toilet without the time consumed with ta or traps. Those are both great too but on a good team you'll barely have time for a couple of debuffs per mob. Sonic is nice too if you can stand to level it, and dark is great all around.
Consider pairing with sonic attacks to floor enemy resistance even more.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Sonic Dispersion. This is a great teaming toon that can hand out 35% resistance to all damage except psi (shields +bubble, unenhanced). It also has EXCELLENT -res capabilities (sonic siphon, sonic disruption) as well as mez protection in the form of the bubble (which will help you too) and clarity. Paired with something* that can hit w/ -regen (rad, dark, kin to an extent) it's pretty awesome. On a TF where the AV/AVs are usually the primary concern, I always like to have a sonic around.
Not trying to argue any kind of superiority, just wanted to encourage folks to roll this nifty set as I rarely see it out there.

Open the pod bay doors, Hal.
Sonic dispersion is indeed a great TF character- and is rarely "rendered unnecessary" (like when you have three def-buffing characters on the team...) Almost nobody's capped on resistance, and everyone can use a hula hoop of extra damage.

D3.
Although, I'm bias...have 3 of them on different servers and play loads of tf's with them.
Running my own tf. I love rad/rads, ill/rad, sonic anything and traps. But traps seem to be quite rare.

I more or less just tell people to bring what they think will be fun.
Enjoy your day please.
I would probably say my favourites are Cold Domination, Sonic Resonance, Dark, Rad and competent Traps. All of these can do some serious debuffing regardless of what controller primary or defender secondary they're paired with.
The reason I say "competent Traps" is because Traps is quite static by nature, so the player has to know when to throw down your gadgets so that they aren't recharging when you need them. Traps is definitely in my top three in AV/GM fights, mostly due to the diverse buffs/debuffs it can provide of which the most important is completely shutting down most AVs'/GMs' regen.
